Pederson is far more useful than what Jason Lowe is.
Mm, that's what we used to call " damning with faint praise".
-
Your opinion is that he's useful, mine is that he isn't. Players tend to look at high earning lightweights and think " Well if he can get away with it so can I ". That's how teams end up getting relegated. Top earners have to set an example.

That's daft. He's certainly good enough to play his part as we saw on Saturday. If we're paying him we might as well get something out of him. No point paying him to swan around doing nowt. Regardless of your opinion he's better than most we've got and is always willing to play. He doesn't throw his toys out of the pram if he's asked to sit on the bench and come on to be the scapegoat for the failings of the team as a whole - he's a pro. there's a guy behind me at Ewood who couldn't praise Pedersen if he scored 3 goals a match and singlehandedly won us promotion. You sound like him. You see all the daft stuff he does, no worse than what most of our team do, and none of the good stuff. I'm not even a great Pedersen fan but people who can see nothing good in the guy get my goat. He's our player so we need him to work because if the tales of financial ruin are true we're getting nobody else, not even players commanding minimum wages and no up front transfer fee.
That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it.

His wages are irrelevant; the last sentence is your opinion and there are plenty of people who think the team is better with him in it and he has alot more to contribute. You're like a broken record stuck at 78rpm.
JIM, I said earlier it was my opinion. I think that should make it pretty clear. On other issues ( politics ) it could be said you are also like a broken record. It doesn't mean you are wrong concerning those issues though does it ?
-
You need to read what I actually said earlier. We can't get rid of him, that's obvious,. In spite of him being such an asset nobody else will take him off our hands. For now we'll have to let him laugh all the way to the bank. I just wouldn't play him the team. When we last renewed his contract I and a few others said it was madness. So how do you suggest we get rid if he has a year left on his contract - we'd have to buy him out presumably

But thats just plain daft. He's costing us big money whether we like it or not, we cant move him on cos of his wages and his age granted but the midfield (imo and that of many others) is much more compact and performs better when he is in it. I suggest that MGP should hand over all free kick and corner kick duties to Jones (if he stays) so that Jones will end up getting all manner of sh1t heaped on him from the fans when he over/under hits his deliveries. Lets be honest how @#/? was Jones corner kick that led to our equaliser at Millwall? Afraid I wasn't there so did he get booed for it by our travelling 'jury'?
Why not save your ire for the lacklustre and immobile Portugese who don't have a bloody tackle in them and players who skip training and watch vids down at the soon to be officially named 'The David Dunn Treatment Room' down at Brockhall most days. Pederson does put an honest shift in which is more than can be said for the likes of the more talented wastrels like the two Davids for starters.
How about the two midfielders Murphy and Etohu who are on significantly more money and manage to patrol a piece of the pitch roughly the size of my bloody patio between them just so long as they don't have to break sweat to do it! MGP for all his faults is worth more to the team than them put together. That should be your first port of call if you want to bury your hatchet into someone! ORr How about the scouse right back who was so far up Kean's arse that he copuld see daylight... the one with the quick wit and the even quicker V sign whose (lack of) pace is becoming legendary...... amongst opposing wingers! How about him?
How about having a go at our cross between Jake la Motta and Daffy Duck or that Simpson from Hull or Olsson Minor? How any of them have escaped the ranks of part time football is a complete bloody mystery to me.
Problem with the likes of you Tyrone is that you contracted the scapegoat syndrome which has been a feature amongst the Ewood faithful as long as I can remember. You need a public enemy No1 out on the pitch and as soon as he leaves you just have to move onto another or you aren't happy.

I haven't got a problem. What I have got is an opinion. That opinion is we can no longer afford to pay bit part players a sum northern of of a million pounds a year. Be they Pedersen, Dunn, Murphy , Etuhu, Bentley, Nuno Gomes, Givet, Robinson, the list is a lengthy one, and that's only some of them. Those days are well and truly over. Anybody worth a million pounds a year at Rovers needs to play 40 games a season and be worthy of a place and are not being played because we are paying them daft money. I.E. coming on at half time and doing a bit is not what I'm referring to.
You may have a problem with that opinion, but you won't have for long.
-
So what would you do with him if you were in charge?
Which part did he play in the goal v Palace?
I wouldn't have in me the team. We can't move him on because nodody else is daft eniough to pay him that sort of money. There must be a reason for that.
-
Thank you chaddy. First time you've posted something worthwhile. Tyrone's talking through his ringpiece when it comes to Pedersen.
Mm, a mere £ 24k a week. I'm feeling better already.
-
Couldn't agree more jim. We looked far better balanced in the second-half with Pedersen on the pitch. He linked up well with King and Morris on the left and gets through an awful lot of work which goes unnoticed by many. Gary seems to value him as part of the senior squad and hopefully he will be with us next season. As you say, there are any number of players you would be happy to see leave before Pedersen.
We're talking about a guy pulling in £40 k a week and you're telling me we couldn't do better ! He's not on his own, we've got plenty in the same situation. We aren't Jack's team anymore. That's £ 2 million pounds a year. And for what, knocking a few short passes around and taking the odd corner and free kick that we never score from ! Winning headers that go nowhere ? It's no longer sustainable. There are people on this site that need to wise up pretty quickly.

Currently in Mister Thomas's Chop House in Manchester, fantastic
The steak and kidney pudding used to be great. A few years ago you could have a combo of a of a third steak and kidney pudding
, a third of their cheese and onion pie and a third of their corn beef hash ! I never tried it myself, although I've had each of those and they're delicious.

I think you are judging this guy harshly Gordon. In the last few games, yes he's flapped at a few he really shouldn't have, but he's also made some really incredible saves you wouldn't have expected most goalies to make. As for his kicking, is it really worse than Kean's? I agree with you about Pedersen depending on length of contract and how much he'd want paying. He does make daft mistakes and is a bit of a wimp, but the game improved enormously yesterday when he came on. He can put in good little passes that take the opposition out of the game, like the ones he was slipping down the left yesterday, and he is still one of our better headers of a ball. Generally too he seems to try to move forward. He's nowhere near the player he was years ago, but who will we get better? There are times when, if affordable, the devil you know is definitely preferable.
Who will we get that's better than MGP for £ 40k a week ! Where do you want me to start ?

Re MGP never getting injured. - He won't if he never gets a tackle in. Re left footed strikers of the ball.- I take it you were left footed then matey ! I tend to agree with your comment though, left footed players are usually excellent strikers of the ball but their right is normally strictly for standing on.From what I saw yesterday he is certainly not commanding in the air (flapped at one he should have caught easily) considering his feet must stick out of the bed by about 18 inches! Also considering that he is left footed and left footers are usually blessed with accuracy and power he kicks very awkwardly.
He won't do full time at this level and I may be being too judgemental off just one sighting but a 3rd choice keeper for a Championship club is exactly what I saw. I trust his wages aren't much.
Sucker punch was down to that 'good' central defence parting like the red sea.
They all had a better second half once that Portugese bloke had been winched and replaced by MGP at HT. Ped still commits elementary errors but the midfield is so much tighter with him in there and he is much more suited to championship football than random latinos..... plus he wins just about every header that he goes for. That backpass was scary though!
btw.... A big plus for retaining MGP is as outlined above, plus and this is a massive plus.... I can hardly ever remember him getting injured! Compare that to Dunny! Dunny's much more skilfull of course but now he doesn't need to play he's 'on the sick' again. It's not a physiotherapist that he's needed all his career it's a psychiatrist.
Yesterday we passed him walking from the DE car park to the main entrance with the flakiest put-on fake limp that I have seen since Darren Anderton was once selected to play for Spurs against Wimbledon! I'd love someone to be able to reckon up what Dunny has earned over his career divided by minutes of the pitch! I've a feeling he'd make Yaya Toure's 250k pw look like a bargain!

Who's on the bench ?

4-2-3-1 with goodwillie on the right and Gomes behind rhodes
That's how I see it. Goodwillie and King out wide with Gomes just behind Rhodes. It's a really attacking line up, We'll either batter them or they'll batter us. I can't see it being a 0-0 draw somehow.

I've just been looking through Utd's injury list. They've got Scholes, Young and Fletcher out. That's 3 players with all the games they've played this season. Fletcher's is really because of illness rather than an injury. All the top teams have very few out injured, the teams down at the bottom all have plenty of injuries !

Most of that post is written in the past tense. What's gone is gone. We've lived on memories and reputations for too long at this club. They count for nothing in this league as we've just found out. Is he going to play a signifcant role in us getting out of this division at the right end ? Is he the sort of player that will shine in this division ? I think even his admirers know the answer to those two questions. That's all I'm concerned about, will he strengthen the team or weaken it going into next season ?
