Parsonblue's match report is now published to the front page here.
Thanks for that Parson, that makes for better reading !

Rugby League started dieing with advent of Super League, all the greedy, selfish clubs couldn't see further than the end of their own noses. This is just more of the same. It's a great game being run by parochial, short sighted people.

I think we might need more than 3 points. Watford bottling it against 3 of the worst sides in the divison on the bounce seems too optimistic imo. That said, Bowyer has done wonders to give us a chance.
Given what Bowyer has said in recent days it seems pretty clear to me he will get the gig full time next season. From what I have seen he deserves the chance. Good luck to the bloke. I hope he can get the most out of the squad in the short term and get us over the line. If / when he gets the job permanently I hope he sees merit in bringing in players like Jones who will fight for the shirt and are proven at this level. If our finances allow such luxuries that is.
Bloody hell Patrick you're a pessimist ! If we need more than three points I'll be surprised.

You're only two points behind us matey with Bristol City to play, it's far from over yet, We'll need another 3 points from somewhere I reckon. Just our luck that 50 points will be nowhere near enough.

Bloody good job we won tonight. It's not over yet but at least we're in the driving seat. Come on Rovers.

If Dunn was anything like fit I may have fancied starting with him. He seems to a catalyst for the club recently. I can only assume he's being held back for a rescue mission.
-
we are going 3 in the centre. Southern, Norwood and Clayton. Danns out wide, Vanghan centre and Scannell on the other side, standard back 4. Easy enough to swap to 442 if needed/required. flexible and balanced.
strong powerful and quick wide and centre.
lets see what happens...
That's why you're bumping along the relegation zone like we are.

It's a gamble playing Givet given his lack of game time, however our choices are pretty limited. A match fit Givet would probably be most people's first choice centre half. The young kid from City would be gamble as well. Who'd be a manager ?

" Rock Your Baby " - George McRae.

Pedersen ! Why don't we just play with 10 men and have done with it.Would honestly prefer Rekik to Givet. His time has come and gone and I think the youngster has something to prove after a difficult time at left back.
Real blow to lose Kazim, he's a real focal point and the onus is once again thrust on the shoulders of Dunn to be our outlet.
Would like to see Pedersen brought in for Kazim, particularly if Morris is going to play left back. MGP offers a lot defensively and his experience can only help young Josh. Also brings the long throw ins into play, the situation the way it is, it's hardly going to be a footballing classic!
Sandomierski
Kane - Dann - Rekik - Morris
Lowe - Williamson
Dunn - Jones - Pedersen

Yep but Gilliver first goal, seem to remember it was the Darwen end, not sure what year but sticks in the mind? Maybe an ageing thing?
You've got me thinking now. I'm pretty sure we scored the opening goal of all the leagues in the 68-69 season. That was v Derby at Ewood but Eamon Rogers scored that one from the penalty spot.
I liked Gilliver, he was a real trier but you could see he was handicapped by the slipped disc. I used to go to the same osteopath that treated him, I'd done my disc as well.. This guy told me Gilliver had decided to have a disc fusion as a last resort and he'd lost a lot of movement in his lower back as a result of that treatment.

I don't remember Gilliver scoring the first goal of the season at Ewood. He may have sorted the first goal of the season after we got relegated in 1966 but that game was at Derby County.Come on! When everything kicked off at 3-00 on a saturday everywhere, Gilliver gave us the first goal of that season in the leagues anywhere. This was at Ewood and that is now history. Maybe history is unfortunate but history is the one and only thing that cannot change! Then again I can remember Coddington taking a penalty which was terrible, the ref blew because of an infringement, he took it again and result was same. Seem to remember he ran from the centre circle to hit the ball both times, What joy?
I remember the Coddington penalties very well. He'd never taken one for us before. He started his run on at goal on around the edge of the centre circle and ran in like Jimmy Anderson. I thought " this one will either burst the net or end up in Darwen ". When he got to the ball he weakly side footed the ball straight at a bemused Palace goalkeeper who never moved !
For some reason the ref told him to take it again. I couldn't believe it when he did exactly the same thing with exactly the same result ! I've never seen anything like it before or since.
Later on the ref gave us another penalty ( he must have had us down as a home win ! ) and Eamon Rogers calmly scored that one.
The team that day -
Barton
Newton Wilson.
Clayton, Coddington, Hole.
Ferguson, Rogers, Martin, Gilliver, Connelly.
sub Ben Anderson.
It's amazing when you look at that team that they let Coddington get anywhere near the ball for that penalty.

The season so far comes down to this. A win and things are looking good, lose and we're back in the kean. We've had some under performing players from Hudds over the years. Alan Gilliver, John Coddington and that guy who made Jason Wilcox look like Gareth Bale , the one and only Brian Hill.

"Twist and Shout"- Top Notes
(whoah, somehow had a song up that had naught to do with the previous post, so in a hurried way, I posted this)
I used to have that on an old " London " label 45. Then I got divorced and my wife got all my records ! So called weaker sex ! They're having a laugh. Crap record though, The Isley Brothers version is the boss version.
