  1. How would you feel if you were signing the cheques ? It's easy when it's other people's money. We've spunked enough money in the past on signings that didn't make any real sense.
  2. Who would you rather have - Armstrong ( a wide forward ? ) or a fully fit Chapman ( an out and out winger ) ? I know who I'd chose out of those two. There's a lot of rubbish talked about modern football , the game hasn't changed that much over the years.
  3. Now there's a player who threw his career away.
  4. I don't want " defensive " wingers especially the ones that are " defensive " because they're too slow to be " offensive ".
  5. I believe Sunderland are considering re-appointing Coleman.
  6. If we spend £1.5 million on a player this Summer I'll be amazed.
  7. I agree with that. If we aren't planning to play Armstrong up front in partnership with another striker anything over £750,000 is a waste of money. He's never going to be a winger in a million years.
  8. The likes of James Collins are way out of our reach financially. As an established Premier League player with a London club he'll be on at least twice as much as our highest paid player, maybe even three times or more. We aren't shopping at that level anymore.
  9. No, Chaddy would prefer 3 centre backs.
  10. Why are Bradford releasing him ? Just asking. I have hopes Nyambe might make the grade and Bennett might fancy making that position his own. Do we really need another right back given how light we are in other positions.
  11. Is he an improvement on what we've already got ?
  12. Caddis was in the Scotland team ! What at , Darts or Pool ?
  13. That's my thinking also. Nothing they've said or done regarding our promotion leads me to think otherwise. We'll know better when we start signing players. If Mowbray does come back with a good wedge I don't think he'll be announcing the fact.
  14. It looks like Mowbray has been busy. Let's hope he can find another " Dack " standard of player or two.
  15. Crouch is possibly on more than our first 11 players. Let's be real about this.
  16. Sounds like he was playing with a groin injury, let's see what he kicks like when that is fixed.
  17. There isn't a rational explanation for offering Conway a new contract.
  18. I thought he could have been the new " Eyal Berkovic " for us in that midfield role but he never really took the game by the scruff of the neck. Cairney never really demanded the ball and seemed content to be a bit part player. Berkovic would want the ball no matter where he was on the pitch and no matter how many opponents were marking him. I remember Cairney playing out wide on the right against City in that FA Cup reply when we got battered 6-0. He was the one player on our team that looked like he was good enough to play for them.
  19. When he was good for us he was very good. On other days you would have hardly known he was playing. I had high hopes for him here. He seems to have come on somewhat at Fulham. I've said before players come in two categories. The ones that get you on top in a game and the ones that dominate the opposition when the first group have got you on top. He belongs in the second group.
  20. I said at the time I suspected it would be a season too far for him and I stand by that now. You can only judge players by what they contribute to the team. If we would have had 11 Whittinghams out there we might have got relegated again. As poor a signing as Dack was a good one.
  21. One thing about him, his attitude will be right. I used to work with his dad. Smashing bloke.
  22. So he'd from day 1 to New Years Eve to take the shirt of the likes of Evans and he couldn't. The bottom line is we dropped a bollock signing him. It was a season too far for his body. It comes to all players and it can come really suddenly.
  23. It's being good that matters most. It's the small guys you need to watch in my experience. Speedie, Dickov, Batty, you know what I mean. There are of lots of big, soft guys. I do take your point about us lacking height though.
  24. Age matters in football. That's why Dougie isn't still running rings around opposing full backs.
