  1. Why couldn't he be out there from the start then ? The ECB is a joke.
  2. It's been really depressing waking up every morning to hear the constant stream of bad news. This could be the worst side we've ever sent to Australia. I've no answers but I suspect Cricket is on the way to becoming a minority sport in this country. The Ashes mania the swept the country in 2005 has been squandered on the altar of financial short termism. I heard Stokes has been selected for the one day team. How does that work ?
  3. It's about time we had a Socialist then.
  4. Don't give up the day job Phil.
  5. Your dedication to our National Game does you great credit. It's a crying shame what with all the money sloshing around the Prem that you can't get funding.
  6. Doyle coming along nicely, makes the signing of Hart a bit of a mystery.
  7. Sheffield Wednesday played 4-5-1 today with Rhodes as the 1. Then they say coaches know more about football than the ordinary Joe on the terraces. Just been reading the comments on their board. To say the Owls fans are seething is a massive understatement.
  8. Thanks for that. A fascinating insight into how kids football has changed since I was 15. Your dedication to football does you great credit. Keep up the good work.
  9. Once he needed surgery he wasn't going to be back any time soon.
  10. Without being unduly pessimistic as soon as I heard he was having an operation I thought we'll not see much of him again this season. That's a serious injury for a footballer.
  11. Same as the football team. We're breeding nice guys who aren't winners. We can't deal with pressure, as soon as the going gets really tough we roll over. We've never white washed the Aussies because we lack that killer instinct. As soon as we win the Ashes it's game over let's all go out and get pissed. With the Ausses it's let's make it 5-0. The bottom line is they wanted it more.
  12. I've only seen him the once but he did pretty well. He's a bit more of a " no nonsense " type of centre half than Wharton. Two good lads there for the future. I remember saying that when we had Taylor and Johanneson playing there but it didn't work out that way.
  13. The wickets and climatic conditions in England aren't conducive to outright fast bowling unfortunately. Fast medium bowlers using swing and seaming the ball off the wicket have traditionally been how fast bowlers have had success over here. Until that changes really quick English bowlers will be as rare as hens teeth.
  14. That's a sly one. If you get a proper dead leg your night is over.
  15. Reading the report in my paper Rhodes was subbed after an hour. Injured or just nor at the races ?
  16. Yeah, that's the way of it these days. And most of them still struggle when a corner comes in !
  17. I hope so. Apart from that he had a decent game.
  18. I think so, I've only seen him once. He played pretty well but his lack of stature was an handicap in the shoot out.
  19. If the keeper you mean is Fisher he needs to grow about 6 inches taller.
  20. Yeah but no thanks to the Cook and Root. What's gone wrong there ?
  21. It always looks worse from the side lines. Keeley knew how to " quieten " opponents, no problem. We'd all shake hands after games like that.
  22. Yeah, just one of those things. The conditions were a factor in that incident. It was the only time I've thought a player could have been killed at a football match. He could have easily broke his neck there.
  23. To be honest with you he's what I expect Evans to be only Evans should be smarter with all his experience.
  24. Being fair from what I saw of Gladwin I think he's the sort of player who could do that in training. He looks to have a decent touch. Can he do it in a game ? That's another story.
