  1. I've no problem with that at all. With Kuqi we are a bit better placed at that than we were last year with just the small of stature Dickov struggling manfully away up front on his own. In fact Hughes may well have elected to play 4-5-1 more often this season but for Bellamy's total unsuitability to such a formation. Dont forget we got banjaxed at Upton Park with Bellamy playing the full 90 mins.
  2. Maybe his spirit is still alive at the Reebok. Big Sam seems quite able to get the best out of Billy Big Time has-beens.
  3. Not clearing the ball but rather giving it away to an opponant in a dangerous position is nothing to do with the centre-half position is it not brfc4eva? imo it's their first duty. Many times in the course of a game when picked at chalf Zurab will find himself pulled over to that rb position so he knows as well as anyone how to play there. I know everybody can make mistakes and I am not criticising him for making one but whether he was picked at left back, centre half or centre forward I'm sure Zurab held his hand up and apologised for the goal in the dressing room afterwards.
  4. Steve Bruce? Saw Alex Ferguson on tele this morning. Dead man walking.
  5. Strange that. Only recently they ludicrously voted Cantona as their best player of all time! Imagine the fuss if he'd pegged it instead of Bestie.
  6. Sorry BRFC4eva I misinterpreted your earlier post. I thought you were joking! Now that I realise that you were not joking i'm even more flabbergasted by your defence of Zurabs mistake.
  7. Happiest man around will be Freddie Shepherd. Now that Rangers are guaranteed a huge amount of filthy lucre he will not have to give Souness yet another huge cheque for another awful Rangers cast off player simply to help him bale them out of the mire again.
  8. 7 Prem clubs, all doing well, in the North West and 2 in or around the play off positions in the Championship. The plain fact is that there are simply not enough fans to go round. Personally I know of 2 families with split loyalties who have deserted the Rovers this season because of such poor fare over the past few years and now have season tickets at Deepdale. We cannot do much about the big 4 but like it or not PNE, Bolton, Burnley and Wigan are our enemies in a business sense. More than mere rivels really, for us to prosper they must not be successful.
  9. He was on the pitch wasn't he? I'd only accept that if he had been left back at the time. As in left back on the bench.
  10. Are you sure about that one? Apart from a couple of hundred thousand Chelsea fans and the odd newspaper editor surely the rest of the country would just love to see him returned to Russia in chains.
  11. Have you not understood Philips post? QPR have a say in determining the admission prices for the game and they cannot be expected to play ball to their own financial detriment.
  12. And maybe that would be the earliest time to consider his return, and also the time that we found that we could no longer afford him. Catch 22 eh?
  13. Wasn't Zurab mainly responsible for giving a goal away at Charlton? Or does it not matter if we end up winning?
  14. It appears Gascoigne has been swayed by so much public forgiveness of Bestie that he has decided to court the wrong type of publicity again. Is jealousy at the root of this latest incident I wonder?
  15. The annoyance is that the referee never saw it, the handball although intentional was minimal and there should have been some benefit of doubt given as in most other cases. Beattie would still have had a hell of a lot to do to score from there. Was Heskeys attempt last night at conning for the goal not far worse? Yet he simply got a yellow. Remember this is not a court of law with definite rights and wrongs, this is a spectator sport which was ruined to varying degrees for 22000 paying punters. Given the price of attending football matches in this country and even the cost of pay per view, widespread declining attendances sendings off are a marketing disaster and should be avoided at all costs.
  16. This is turning slushy and sentimental. Dunne needs to play a lot of games on the spin, prove effective and fit and keep his weight down for a long period of time before he is even worth thinking about. How often are real assets like Tugay, Reid and Savage injured? Compare them to the likes of other crocks that we have bought and simply wasted money on that would have been better spent elsewhere Steve Agnew, Dahlin, Amoruso etc to name but a few. I think the return of Dunne would be a disaster. His personality would ensure that he played a conquering hero and prodigal son all rolled into one. It's a long held belief in show business that you should always leave the crowd wanting more and Dunne seems to have done that. Duff would be a different matter.
  17. Perfectly illustrating the ultimate effect of what a league with all but two clubs devoid of any hope of success whatsoever and with all ambition stifled can do to the public interest in professional football. btw apparently the purchase of Hearts was in the region of 4.5 million.
  18. Not having won a home game all season resulted on lots of empty seats at the big club. Anybody see the Heskey booking? I know it's at the other end of the pitch but Heskey's hand of God impersonation kinda puts Todds recent misdemeanor into perspective and at the same time shows up the rigid and inflexible interpretation of the laws of the game to be flawed. Todd denied Beattie a possible goalscoring chance from 30 yards out and was sent off whereas Heskey blatantly and openly tried to cheat West Ham, the Ref and the public by putting the ball into the nett with his hand, then playacting disappointed and disbelieving of the decision and all he got was a yellow! Incidentally it was a topdrawer spot by the referee. Well done fella.
  19. I was searched at Man City. I was asked to take my phone out of my pocket and raise my arms in the air while some bloke frisked me. I asked him what he was looking for and he said without a moments hesitation 'aerosols'! So sod knives, darts, lead pipe, sharpened coins, firework rockets etc the big danger on the terraces now apparently comes from aerosols for pity's sake! Whether Lynx is particularly more deadly than Femfresh I'm not really sure. I must say the daft sod looked very shamefaced and flustered when I started to laugh at him and he realised how daft he sounded but surely the worlds going mad.
  20. It all should provide strong motivation when the team plays at Goodison.
  21. From the Times Blackburn had been reduced to 10 men with Andy Todd’s dismissal, which may have further repercussions if the club is reported for something apparently thrown at assistant referee Mark Warren, whose raised flag effectively signalled Todd’s departure. That 'something' was an empty paper cup.
  22. And that in a nutshell is what will have to be addressed by the powers that be. Crowds are not falling away for no reason. Yesterday given that Everton brought about 4500, and that we have been playing better of late I noticed a slight increase in home attendance. Imagine the effect on these paying punters of Halsey effectively curtailing the spectacle after 20 minutes or so? In marketing terms the laws of the game are a shambles.
  23. My mate's a scouser living in Blackburn but of the red persuasion. Yesterday he went to watch Everton get beaten and he also took his two little fella's to the game (under 10's) and they sat in the familiy stand. Afterwards in the pub he asked me to guess the cost of his tickets. I had a wild guess at about £35-40. It turned out that the 3 tickets cost him £62 quid! Now I am no expert but asking neutrals to shell out that amount of money is beyond the pale and is maybe why crowds are reluctant to come to Ewood. Perhaps if he had paid that amount and had a 30% discount voucher thrown in for any future games this season he may have viewed the value of his investment differently. If I put myself in his position by moving to another City with a team in the Prem I'm damned sure that I would have difficulty parting with that sort of money and would instead simply buy the relevant sky package which would give me access to my own teams games in the evening.
