  1. Just a thought but if exiled fans get such a kick out of watching / writing / reading about BRFC then is their no way that they can be coerced into parting with some of their hard earned? Donating annually half the cost of the cheapest season ticket would be fine for starters. I am sure such a measure would make em feel a lot better and a lot greater feeling of being a part of the club.
  2. Well its probably a bit dearer now than their £10 ticket out Jim.
  3. I wonder how many would sign that petition if the alternative was to simply forfeit the game? They'd get a far different and better supported petition up then I'd expect. Moving to 5.30pm is showing respect enough. Playing then or moving to another day will not bring any of the dead back. btw Are these the same fans that annually remind the mancs of Munich? btw again....... whilst we are on the subject I do not recall the Mancs ever objecting to playing on the 6th February!
  4. I can only assume that they have got the wrong way round! The early press reports in the Guardian and Times come down heavily on the side of the rovers and the 'luck' that Spurs enjoyed. BBC2 didn't think fit to show the rovers 2nd half penalty claim either despite highlighting the 3 other handball incidents. All is not yet lost though as Tottenham have just 4 home games from their 10 remaining fixtures.
  5. Sky Sports think differently. http://home.skysports.com/matchratings.asp...0&clid=5&cpid=8
  6. Correct Napoleon. Jeff Winter was right up there with all the other 'I'm a celebrity' breed of Referees. btw I read an extremely good report on saturdays referee in the Sun. Anybody who went agree with that?
  7. Surely this cannot be after two full terms and a bit of a Labour govt! But then I'm sure also that I cannot recall any mines being reopened, any shipbuilding and any British car manufacturers etc etc in the last decade either.
  8. On what grounds Philip? Whilst not particularly intended to be complimentary its hardly an exaggeration or an inaccuracy is it?
  9. He won't do. Tugay made him look a 1st Div standard carthorse at Ewood a few weeks ago.
  10. As for Shefki. He definitely brings something to our attack that has been missing for 10 years in desire, strength and effort but his first touch is so bad that yesterday one attempt at control cannoned off a Wigan knee and set Bellamy up to perfection. Oh and from what I saw on the tele in the pub his intentional passing was so bad that it probably cost us two goals. I can't help liking him though.
  11. The value of the Graveson / Carsley partnership never seems to get mentioned. I really do wonder why? No matter how unlikely it may be but Graveson would be a superb aquisition for us.
  12. Like a crock of gold at the end of a rainbow, hens teeth and a 9 bob note, there is simply no such thing.
  13. Shouldn't that 'believed' rather than read Den? Some very high profile Blackburn 'Suits' in the pub afterwards informed me that it was only switched on in the morning of the game. Surely undersoil heating is designed for -6 degrees of frost? Cock up imo.
  14. Anybody know when this will be re-arranged for? I shouldn't think this will be played for quite some time given our fixture list over the next few weeks.
  15. 300 miles? From Accy? You should have asked for a SatNav for Christmas.
  16. Given the height of the stands and the height of winter sun I would doubt very much that the pitch will see any sun at all between November to March. Doesn't that just mean that they haven't selected a new groundsman yet?
  17. Well I think that if Jack were still alive there would be one or two senior arses twitching 20 to the dozen tonight.
  18. Laughable to remember how many people used to claim that Ashley Ward had a high work rate! He's not in the same league as Kuqi and Dickov on that score.
  19. We've had it with the attendance imo. Averags take a lot of clawing back and we are half way through the season.
  20. The side looks stronger with him in, he is strong and quick with plenty of ability. BUT he reminds me of Brian Clough's assessment of Glenn Hoddle (this is not exact but the gist of the quote is right) "He (Hoddle) is not a naturally quick player but he is so good because thinks quick and he has the first yard is in his head'. Think about it. Cos our Brett's the bloody opposite! And that cannot be coached.
  21. This makes predicatably good reading doesn't it? Anybody still daft enough to prefer Stead to Kuqi?
  22. From experience of reduced ticket prices they ALL appear unacceptable to the majority.
  23. Sure it's dear but cheap tickets never improved any attendance at Ewood imo. Burnley laid on cheap tickets for the Watford game but it didn't increase the crowd much. In fact in the LET Cummings was having a right old gripe at the Burnley 'faithless'. Here....... Stephen Cummings column: Surely the shopping could have waited? THIS column has not been reticent in its criticism of certain areas of Burnley Football Club's pricing policy. The board's decision to slap a £3 tax on anyone buying a ticket on match day, for example, has proved counter-productive, alienating the very kind of supporter it was designed to attract. So in the interests of balance, it's only right that the club should be praised for dropping admission prices to a very reasonable £10 in a bid to attract more fans to the Watford game. They may have been slightly disappointed with the crowd of 13,185. OK, so the manager's wish to see 17-18,000 inside Turf Moor was a trifle optimistic, but with prices so drastically slashed, Kilby and co might reasonably have expected a crowd in excess of 15,000. The stay-away supporters will presumably offer Christmas shopping as an excuse. But really - couldn't Auntie Doris's tartan slippers have waited another few days? The disappointment is that the board listened to fans' complaints and acted in the festive spirit, but not enough supporters reciprocated. Sadly, there will always be an excuse for punters not to attend no matter when price cuts are made. Start of the season? Let's wait and see how they do. Mid-season? Not doing well enough. End of the season? Saving up for summer holidays. The point here is that if the club has a responsibility to help out its supporters every now and again, then the supporters have a responsibility to help out their club when the opportunity presents itself. Meanwhile, as you tolerate unwanted guests and trade unwanted presents next weekend, pare a thought for the chairman who will spend the Christmas period on the horns of a dilemma - whether or not to make funds available for a play-off push. Burnley lie just four points off third spot and with half the season elapsed have shown they can live with most of this league. With a couple of quality additions, there's no reason why we can't maintain their top-six challenge. Understandably, Kilby will be wary about pushing the boat out, remembering what happened last time - and no-one will want to be remembered as the chairman who cost the town its club. Then again, managers, squads, momentum and opportunities such as exist at present don't happen every season. Can we afford to pass it up? A Merry Christmas to you all. Maybe the Rovers should start a 'club' for the supporters who pay by DD. The Monthly ST direct debit could actually be increased at the behest of the purchaser. Any extra sum could be used for times like this or in case of cup failure be knocked off the ST cost next season. The real fault of course is the fixture shenannigins which sees us play home and away games in unwieldy 'lumps'. I guess its a good job that Paul does not support MU or Arsenal because this type of cost is incurred far more frequently with them than with us.
