  1. Not everywhere www. brfcs .co.uk Garner in the LET
  2. It is now available on line, just click lockers link. Dunns interview is at the top.
  3. I'd have been higher up the table if it hadnt been for West Ham. Think I'll join the gang of 4 or is it 7.
  4. I remember Souness making an announcement before a game, that Dunn leaving would be over his dead body.........and we all know what happened next. Somehow, though, if Hughes made a similar statement I would be more inclined to believe him. Unfortunately if a player wants to go he will ie Savage / Birmingham. What we as fans must do, is not to give Benni an excuse for wanting to leave. As long as hes wearing the shirt he should NOT be booed.
  5. Paid on the gate at Wembley, can you believe that. The first ever game that my son went to. Remember him finding a rosette, that he kept in a box for years afterwards.
  6. Oh come off it, he, like many a footballer, they are robots, who have been spoon fed from their teens by coaches and managers, they havent been taught to think for themselves; heck they wouldnt know how to wipe their backsides if it wasnt for instructions from their agents. Just look at the number of players that burn themselves out before their 30's. The number of players who are inteligent enough to stay fit into their late 30's and continue at the top level can be counted on one hand. I would suggest that Hughes and his back room staff are attempting to cure that lack of physical training that Dunn hasnt had for the last 3 - 5 years.
  7. Lucas played for Ray at Millwall, when Ray was the Millwall and he recommended Lucas to Rovers.
  8. A goal late into injury time by Rovers Captain Lucas Neill gave Rovers a 1-0 win against Nancy, to put them through to the next round as Group Champions. match report by Paul Interesting how people can see a game so differently. I've never seen Nancy play and only knew several people on here rated them highly. I arrived at Ewood expecting a very difficult game. Despite this Sparky had chosen to start with just 4 recognised first choice outfield players, the rest of the side being second choice players and youngsters. Fair enough, we'll either get stuffed or it'll be a glorious win! It's true Rovers didn't play well but this was a side without six regulars, has probably never played together before, and in a strange formation. Add to this Nancy had no interest in winning this game, the referee and linesman were determined to whistle or flag everything plus the slightest physical contact resulted in a free kick. Had Todd stayed on the defence would have looked more solid, Nolan did OK but he was clearly nervous and has a way to go, there's hope for him. Given all this its no surprise we put in a very average performance. To say we were second best is grossly unfair and doesn't take account of the circumstances of this match. If we'd been offered some competition on the park then we could judge these players. Nancy proved to be a very, very poor side, totally lacking in any urgency or competitive spirit. If this is the level of competition we can expect I see no reason why Rovers cannot progress further, even reaching the final. I know little of the remaining teams but to date we haven't seen a side, home or away, seriously threaten us. Salzburg are the only ones to give us a game of football yet. Of the remaining teams we can potentially draw, in the next round and going by reputation alone, I guess Auxerre, Besiktas, and Fenerbache could be considered a threat. This UEFA cup experience is new to most of us, for me it has opened a door on European football I haven't seen for many, mnay years. My feeling is the UEFA cup is 90% populated by poor teams you've never heard of, most of them play unimaginative, no contact football. The officials are unlikely to allow any form of physical contact. In many respects it's no wonder the attendances are poor, this simply isn't the football we are used to watching. In fact a second division team will give the fans a better game in the FA Cup. If this is second-string European football it's no wonder the PL, for its myriad faults, is considered the best in the world, most of this lot are simply awful. I'm enjoying the success but it's clear we have to wait for the fimal rounds for the sort of European nights I remember from my childhood. The competition is a money-making exercise, a ridiculous format, and designed to make the national leagues more competitive by providing "the rest" with something to play for. Ironically I suspect most of the clubs lose money hand over fist in this competition.. I hope we win it and I won't be judging any of our youngsters on last night's match Rovers: Friedel, Neill, Todd (Nolan 28), Ooijer, McEveley, Bentley, Savage, Mokoena, Peter (Pedersen 67), Derbyshire, Gallagher (McCarthy 67). Subs Not Used: Brown, Tugay, Nonda, Gray. Booked: Mokoena, Ooijer. Goals: Neill 90. AS Nancy: Lapeyre, Lecluse, Diakhate, Puygrenier, Chretien, Berenguer, Andre Luiz, Gavanon, Biancalani (Sauget 73), Kim (Curbelo 76), Dia (N'Guemo 64). Subs Not Used: Sorin, Hamdani, Keita, Brison. Booked: Dia, Gavanon. Att: 12,568 Ref: Gerald Lehner (Austria).
  9. Despite a spirited second half fight back, 10 man Rovers failed to pick up any points against Newcastle at Ewood this afternoon. A lack lustre first half display by Rovers resulted in them going in 2 – 0 and a man down after Henchoz was sent off in the 40th minute for a professional foul. Newcastle took the lead on the half hour mark through Martin and increased their advantage 5 minutes later through Taylor. In the 40 minute things went from bad to worst for Rovers, when Henchoz was controversially sent off for a professional foul. Rovers came out for the second half full of battling spirit and were rewarded with a goal within a minute of the restart when Pedersen curled in a shot from 30 yards. However despite their spirited fight back the equalizing goal never arrived and with the final whistle looming Rovers threw everyone up front, including Friedel for a corner. Unfortunately the ball broke for Newcastle and with the Rovers goal unattended, Martins slotted in his second of the afternoon and Newcastles third. Final Score Rovers 1 Newcastle 3. Rovers: Friedel, Neill, Ooijer, Henchoz, Gray, Bentley (Todd 46), Savage, Tugay, Pedersen, Nonda (Derbyshire 46), McCarthy. Subs Not Used: Brown, Mokoena, Peter. Sent Off: Henchoz (40). Booked: McCarthy. Goals: Pedersen 47. Newcastle: Given, Solano (Rossi 67), Ramage, Taylor, Babayaro, Milner, Butt, Emre (Pattison 54), N'Zogbia, Martins, Sibierski (Huntington 86). Subs Not Used: Srnicek, Luque. Booked: Babayaro, N'Zogbia. Goals: Martins 31, Taylor 35, Martins 90. Att: 19,225 Ref: D Gallagher

  11. Rovers are back in European action tonight when they take on Nancy at Ewood Park. Kick off 7-45pm. Whilst Rovers have already qualified for the knock out stage of 32 teams, it is imperative that they get a win tomorrow night, in order to top their group and avoid one of the clubs that have dropped down from the Champions League. Stephane Henchoz is ineligible for tomorrow nights game and with injuries to Emerton, Nelsen, and Zurab, Saturdays second half substitute Andy Todd could retain his place in the team, whilst Matt Derbyshire could replace Nonda as Benni McCarthy’s strike partner. In a must win situation for both teams this could be an entertaining and exciting night at Ewood. Tickets are available for the game at £15 for adults or £10 for adult season ticket holders. 12. A youthfull Rovers reserves team, drew 1-1 with Liverpool reserves this evening at Christie Park, Morecambe, to move into 3rd place in the league.
  13. It’s got a bit parky now hasn’t it? Gone are the long barmy days of October, only to be replaced by the cruel harshness of winters favourite mistress, the slag that goes under the name ‘November’. So pour yourself a wee dram if you will and let’s fight off the tarts cold advances as we travel back in time to… Thursday 2 November. Blackburn Rovers 3 Basle 0. 13,000 braved the Siberian conditions to get down to Ewood and pay the extortionate price of £15 to get in. Well actually £7.50 if you were a season ticket holder. The clocks had gone back the previous week so it meant it was darker than normal as well (I blame the Ticket Office). Plus the match was also being shown on Sky’s Super Stella EuroSport. Add that to the fact that we’re always in Europe, every single season without fail, and always will be. continued. CLICK HERE
  14. Rovers reserves take on Liverpool reserves tomorrow night at Christie Park Morecambe, kick off 7pm. With a number of regulars out on loan or having been upgraded to first team duty, a number of the youth team squad may get a run out in this fixture, as Mark Hughes prepares his first team squad for Wednesday night UEFA Cup game against Nancy,at Ewood Park.
  15. Well that cant be said at Rovers, due to a small first team squad and numerous injuries, the reserves is made up with a number of academy players on a regular basis.
  16. The reserves are playing Monday night, they may not have the stamina for another game so soon.
  17. An interesting read from the TimesAcademies Face Closure, From the Times.
  18. I didnt get to todays game, or Wednesday's game against Charlton, and have had to draw conclusions from the radio commentary and comments posted here by members who attended the matches. You can therefore disregard the following comments if you like. We cannot continue to blame injuries or referees and linemen for poor performances. I now know how Fulham supporters felt a couple of weeks ago, On Wednesday night and the first half today, the team never turned up. I can accept defeat when the team put in an effort, but from what Ive heard and read there are to many players that arent prepared to battle for the cause. I said it in another topic. Without being pesimistic and we get into the religation dog fight how many of the current team would you want in your corner. More so how many of them have the bottle or experience to battle it out.
