  1. You must be in your teens, right? Worst you've ever felt? So not the multiple relegations. Not the tyrannical reign of Kean where he had to be shamed into resigning as he was never getting sacked. Not the 5 years of listlessness under Mowbray? Curious.
  2. It's a warm weather training camp, not an 18-30 lads holiday.
  3. Huddersfield didn't create any chances to finish.
  4. What style of play does suit the players we've got?
  5. Last man and no genuine attempt to play the ball? It's what Cancelo got sent off for a few weeks ago - carbon copy.
  6. Down to 10 men and 1-0 down certainly changes that game. He's bottled it because he's a coward. I never want to see a Premier League ref again in this league, they've got too used to VAR bailing them out.
  7. Agreed. JDT turned down Champions League football to come and sit on a cushy number at Ewood Park. He's definitely not an ambitious personality - you can see that by his so-so playing career and walking away from Malmo after winning back to back titles looking for a bigger and better opportunity. He's just topping up his pension fund, the bastard.
  8. Once he bottled the big one - the straight red and penalty - I knew were were in for one of those refereeing performances.
  9. Ok, last reply on this thread / match then I'm going to go outside - it's only a game of football after all, it's not that important. Garrett, Mola and Travis all put in crunching tackles in this match. Unfortunately the referee was only blowing for fouls one way - so no matter how much you 'give a fuck', it doesn't make a blind bit of difference if you're blown up for everything and their CF can push your GK into the back of the net / hit your CM late and no-where near the ball without a booking. This was also the game where Gallagher was desperate to play on despite a very deep gash to his leg. I don't question the commitment of these players, I question the ability - I always have.
  10. He was a promising Academy player 5 months ago, now he's being asked to save our team against a squad assembled for £30m+. Sounds reasonable.
  11. He's not trying to turn Ayala into Beckenbauer. Our CBs aren't being asked to play make - just play the ball forward to a team mate. The problem we suffer from, at times, is that our midfield isn't good enough off the ball and in possession. It's s no coincidence that it all clicks when A. Wharton is on the pitch - he finds pockets of space and has the touch / vision to move the ball on to someone in a better position. I like Travis as a player, but he can't do that. I thought Buckley would thrive in this system too, but so far no dice.
  12. I wonder how long JDT has to deal with the likes of Low, Benson et al. I know they were part of the package deal when he was appointed, but I'm sure he's sat in Broughton's office during the last five months and said "C'mon, Gregg, sort it out, they're useless".
  13. I'd stop bothering, to be honest. Pre-JDT's appointment in the summer (that 5 week black hole where the club stood still and let 12 players walk out the door whilst all their rivals were busy signing players) many of us thought this squad would be mired in a relegation battle. A few shrewd permanent signings, a decent loanee and several Acdemy players breaking through have papered over the cracks of what is still a very average squad. JDT is performing miracles, but for some reason people think we should be pushing for automatic promotion whilst playing cavalier football. You can't reason with them I'm afraid.
  14. I think he'd find far more time and space in the lower leagues. His game is all about playing the ball into his feet - he actually has some nice touches when he gets the ball under control.
  15. Well let's hope we've got £9m+ lying around in January then because we desperately need a striker on top of those two 'decent midfielders'.
  16. I genuinely think they've extended his contract as they see him as an asset to be sold i.e. we're sick of losing players for nowt. They got a fee for Magloire and I think that's the plan from now on, the Academy has to bring in money from those rejected for our first team (as well as providing like 5 starters in the first XI like it has done for the last few years). He'll drop down to L1 / L2 for £250k or something and have a career for himself.
  17. If anything he'd have thanked him for a good time.
  18. We'd have to buy about 8 new starters if we got promoted. This team / squad would set record low points totals.
  19. Really? You clearly have much more faith in our players than I do! I look at our bench each week and think "Bloody hell, there's no-one to bring on who can change a game". First change today was Jack Vale and you can't even really call him a trier!
  20. If he wants to continue to play as he is then unfortunately there's no room in the side for Travis - his vision and passing isn't good enough for how he wants his CMs to play. Assuming Mola can cover LB the three areas of concern for me are CF, RB (backup) and CM. I like Morton, I think Garrett has a future, I wish Buckley would start pulling his finger out and I think Wharton is a future superstar... but I'd LOVE an established player who can pass in there to ease the pressure on the two first-year Academy graduates and a misfiring Buckley. Morton has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet and, quite frankly, he's not that good.
  21. I knew we were going to lose going into the game and didn't get tied up in the hype of the 'top of the table / oldest derby in English football' the media were spouting all week. They normally couldn't give two hoots about the game. As I said earlier this week, this game wouldn't define our season and I think JDT is performing miracles with a very limited group of players (and some very exciting promising youngsters). We competed for 55 mins, let in a disappointing goal then fell apart when our only other recognised striker went off injured and we switched to a more attacking formation against a team with better players across the park. So no, not really.
  22. Did you think this squad would be 3rd going into the World Cup break?
  23. He'd be in prison if he wasn't a footballer.
  24. We're third on merit (the table doesn't lie), but by no means do we have the third best squad in the league - or even the third best starting XI in the league. I think fans have got carried away with the league position, personally. In terms of spending, Burnley are Manchester City this year - they've spent nearly £30m on transfers (+ wages).
