1000 to 1 (Nah I'm kidding, think it was 200 to 1...although the below post also saying 1000 to 1 makes me think I did indeed see that somewhere) -

No excuse for not getting off the ground there. No good being quick if you can't jump or out muscle and you're meant to be a centre half. May be a bit lucky with that penalty call. One angle looks like a clear yes, the other looks very soft. -

No, mistake that eventually led to the goal and also a failure to close down the scorer. But yeh I don't think he has been so bad overall that he needs hooking yet. It would help if he hadn't been stupidly wedged into one of the least suitable positions for him on the pitch...again. -

Buckley the prime culprit for that goal. Terrible loss of possession, I shouted out what the fuck are you doing!? Then failed to close the scorer. Should have got back level there, why didn't BBD shoot? -

I think drying the ball with a towel before throw ins should be banned. If you can't throw it long cos it's wet, so what? Adapt to the conditions, you've no divine right to lob the ball into the box from the sideline. Every other time the ball is in play everyone has to deal with it being wet, why are throw in takers so special? It also wastes time when it being out of play already wastes time. -
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-injury-update-lenihan-ayala-21680986.amp A little concerned that Ayala had issues with cramp, since he is playing again 3 days later. Hopefully not a sign his body is starting to feel the strain. Cramp can happen to very fit players tbf.

I think it's churlish to say that you're forever in the Mowbray out camp, unless you're exaggerating. I'm a long way from being convinced by him, there's a lot of history to undo, but are you really saying that if we, for example and I know it won't happen, won the league, you would still be saying Mowbray out? Unless he has shagged their missus, there has to be a point at which any reasonable fan of the club would accept him continuing as manager. Edit - FWIW I still think we will collapse too, and that some fans are being premature in heralding him. But they're probably mostly the fans who only decided he wasn't up to it relatively recently.

Tbf for a club like Preston I can see the logic in that approach. We have rich owners and academy spend isn't counted for FFP so it makes sense for us to maximise our youth output as long as Venkys never call in the debt. Especially since we routinely fly close to breaking FFP, meaning our budget gets restricted suddenly and we need to use the u23s for squad fillers. Preston losing Dolan was a failing of judgement rather than a failing of strategy. They could have retained him with or without an u23 team, they just didn't rate him highly enough to do so. Well, they were apparently going to at first until the budget looked too squeezed, but if they'd known how well he was going to do for us I'm sure they'd have signed him on anyway. He was on peanuts here at first.

We have made a great start, but it's early to be declaring Tony the right man to stay in the job, especially given we have years to judge him on in it. I'd still take the first three over him (personally never wanted Cook), as form is temporary and class is permanent. TM is on his way to convincing me he can do a good job here in spite of his flaws, but it's still a long way to go yet.

Safe Standing - Your Thoughts

Fantastically constructed counter-argument, I bow down. I don't know why you're getting passive aggressive about it, I was just having a discussion. Leave you to it. -
As usual I wouldn't have made any of the subs he did (well, I'd have done Carter for Lenihan if Lenihan had a knock as they said, otherwise I'd have rather took the chance to rest Ayala ahead of a 3 games in a week run). But at the end of the day we set up right, won 5-1 against a good team, and none of the subs directly backfired (like the potential Gally injury I was worried about), so absolute credit to Tony and the boys today. If he sticks with the counter attacking approach all season, and Ayala stays fit, I'm starting to think we could actually upset the apple cart. But it's early days yet.
