    I get it okay!

Even Vince Grella passed a medical when the Rovers' Sports Science team was, IMO, far more clued-up than today's set-up!  A medical DOES NOT measure how the body will stand up to physical stresses and strains, however, a player's track record will give you a pretty good indicator.

Ayala hadn't kicked a ball in anger for 8 months through when we signed him and you only need to have read the M'boro forums to see what they thought of Ayala and injury!!!  The alarm bells should have been screaming in the heads of Waggott and Mowbray especially given Ayala's age!!!!

Some players are injury prone as we know to our cost - look how many games even some of our younger players have missed with injury (Nyambe, Lenihan, Davenport, Rankin-Costello, Travis etc).  I would put money on each of those 5 players missing at least half a dozen games this coming season through injury.  You can predict injuries, given a player's track record, with a high degree of certainty!!!!

There’s far more injuries these  days due to pitches and footwear than there used to be, obviously some are more prone to injury than others, the ones you mentioned are mostly high tempo players, it happens at every club.

Well he isn't much use to the club is he.

Dack has done a lot for this club. What has Ayala done apart from prop up the treatment table? Dack also started and ended the season with an ACL and yet he still played more games than Ayala.

Yeah we know, but if you get injured early on that’s life, how the hell can he show what he can do if he’s injured…

and most folk thought Etuhu and Danny Murphy were decent signings !!!

As far as I know, there was only the Middle Eastern option on the table for Ayala - I wonder why !?

Therefore, especially in light of the 'serious groin injury' you refer to, Rovers should have de-risked the deal.  A one year deal with decent basic but big appearance bonus together with a one year option in Rovers' favour.  It's not rocket science!  If Ayala had said no then we should have moved on and we would have been no worse off, in fact in employment costs and medical bills we would have been £1million+ better off.

I wouldn't let Waggott, Mowbray, Venus run a corner shop - IMO, they are not fit for purpose.

Not sure you get it, you have a medical and pass it, you sign the player, he got the groin injury later on, think your last paragraph is really what you mean, re the owners and manager etc, to most level headed fan it looked a decent signing but no one can predict injuries..

Give him a chance? He's had a whole season and been a complete and utter waste of space. If he performs then he will have the fans behind him but if he continues to prop up the treatment table whilst being one of the higher earners then he is obviously going to cop some flack.

So if a player is injured he’s a waste of space, pathetic, like I said Dack is propping up the treatment table but he’s ok is he? Do you think he’s made the injury up, how can you be an utter waste of space when he’s out injured..

I've already made my judgment. I've seen enough already and won't be sucked in by them again - this is how they keep going indefinitely - by large scale turnover in players - self-inflicted - that leaves people craving 'stability' and constantly awarding them more time to oversee the changes.

I think I said we would only sign either a loan or free in defence. Which is what happened. I also predicted that we would be left short in defence, and lo and behold ended up borrowing a couple of teenagers to see us through the second half of the season.

I thought Ayala was a decent signing. That doesn't mean I would have given him a 3 year deal and that was also before the club started crying poverty and put prices up by 25% to cover losses.

We ended up with 3 serious long term injuries, what we supposed to do, we brought a couple of premier youngsters in,1 class player 1 not as good at c/b, and a classy midfielder in Elliott and I bet most of the other clubs in our division would have liked to get him in.

We signed Ayala in Sept 2020 on a three year deal when he hadn't kicked a ball in anger for 8 months!

In the calendar years 2020 and 2021 so far, out of potentially something like 70 Championship games, Ayala has appeared in just 11 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my book, those statistics are damning and I think he's a crock.

We need players who are going to be fit and available for at least 85% of our games (39 out of 46 league games).

To give a bloke of his age, who hadn't kicked a ball in anger for 8 months, a 3 year contact was, IMO, the height of expensive folly and a scandalous waste of money.

In your opinion, most folk thought it was a decent signing, and they do a very stringent medical these days, he got a serious groin injury, it happens, like I said Dack had two serious injuries, it’s part and parcel of the job, in hindsight we wouldn’t have signed anyone who ended up with a long term injury..

Yes - completely at odds with the wailing and whinging from Mowbray and Waggott about financial hardship.

So skint that we have to squeeze more and more out of disillusioned fans, yet enough room on the budget to hand out a 3 year deal to Ayala. Same goes for Smallwood, Samuel, Leutwiler and Graham who were needlessly given contract extensions in the midst of a pandemic for no reason. Another 5 figure sum down the drain.

The two sides to Rovers these days. Always find the money from somewhere if certain people want it but then the basics like looking after your support and stadium are neglected.

Think you were perfectly happy signing him at the time, you thought it was a decent signing, after saying we would only sign loan players in that position. You also said we wouldn’t pay a transfer fee for a goalkeeper, we did and a very decent keeper.
Now you’re saying we shouldn’t have got rid of players leaving us short, let’s see who arrive before we can make a judgment.

If there was a market for Ayala being injured and missing the start of the season then I would be all over it!

I honestly don't think we will get more than a dozen games out of him.

Why do you think that, the lad got a serious groin injury, everyone saying we signed a crock but he played over 90 games for ‘Boro in the 3 previous seasons before we signed him, that’s not a crock.

Dack has had 2 serious injuries out for much longer but nobody says we signed a crock, which he isn’t, same with Wharton another long term injury, no mention of a crock, just both unlucky.

Ayala is a very decent c/b let’s give him a chance and see what happens, just seems a lot of fans pick on a certain players.

The conclusion I arrived at some time ago is that the people running Rovers thrive in the uncertainty.

They certainly don't like sharing information unless they have to - like the training ground stunt.

Only thing to draw from it is that it is either bad news that they are scared/embarrassed to release or there's some advantage to them keeping quiet.

So basically it’s either bad news or good news, think one of them could be right.

It’s because of Venky’s track record, they aren’t exactly the most trustworthy!

Yeah think we are all aware of that, but recent seasons they’ve improved, obviously not ideal but unfortunately we’re stuck with them and whatever people on here say and will never accept them, I don’t think there would be a queue to buy us if they decided to sell.

Just saying whatever the club do, certain fans jump in with their bizarre theories, where in fact no one has a clue, only them actually involved.

Nobody on here has any evidence of anything.

Unless you believe word for word what the club comes out with. That isn't evidence its just taking their word for it. They've a history of lying.

You’re right there, no one has any evidence of anything but you seem to think you do, why is it whatever Rovers do, you seem to twist it round to some conspiracy theory, think 90% of Rovers fans are pleased for Bennett and sensible from his point in his career to move to league 1 and closer to his home.

Some things the club do get right like signing up a lot of our youngsters on longer contracts, plus slowly getting pen to paper on first team players.

The Nyambe saga, who knows what’s going on, he might be wanting silly money that Rovers don’t think he’s worth it, it’s all about negotiations on both sides but you can’t just give in if you don’t think he’s worth top dollar.

Everything isn’t perfect down there as we all know but to just slag everything off they do is just pointless, some things they do get right, but everyone has their own views but some just seem to put the club down at every opportunity mainly due to their dislike of the manager/management/Owners.
