is nobody eating out at the moment? Or trying anywhere new? I keep looking for a good recommendation so that we can try somewhere new but haven't seen one for ages. See the Feildens have got their early bird offer back.

I wouldn't judge him on this. I've known quite a few people who just suddenly realise they can't do it, whatever it is, any more. Happens a lot in teaching where a member of staff just realises that the cumulative effect of the job has become too much. They ring in sick and never reappear. He's out of form anyway and maybe part of that is just that he doesn't want to be there, hasn't wanted to consciously acknowledge it but it's been in the back of his mind for a while, and the current situation, with the ashes gone, gives the selectors chance to have a look at what they need to change, because results and attitude say we need to change something pretty soon.

Thought it was just me who dreads England winning a football game.
-
I would too. I read the comments by the other guy and didn't look closely but did think they were odd in the context of what you've said in the past. Only now realised it's not you!
-
Question is, do you see a queue forming for his services from any clubs in the upper part of the football league. No, of course you don't. Most football fans aren't begging their board to go out and get the guy because they've heard about his successes, have heard he might be interested and know he's going to be the next great thing. He's a no mark in football terms regardless of nationality, race, creed or colour. Bringing him in could be the final nail in the coffin for our fans, just when, even if we don't think bowyer is the greatest thing since sliced bread, we are beginning to be able to talk about the football rather than off the field antics, again.
-
Well they can look forward to a real backlash if they are stupid enough to appoint him. Oh heck - I forgot. They are that stupid and arrogant as to think that it matters not one jot what we, the fans, think

Lived in Somerset rather than Devon - 3 years in Yeovil and 3 in Martock just outside Yeovil. Going back 30 years though. My 2 eldest were born down there.
-
Unfortunately he died last year, but, as I said, did do quite a lot of other decent places around there with him. Somerset and Devon had loads of good restaurants that were very reasonably priced when we lived there.
-
Yes many years ago. They had signs up as you went up the drive saying "keep going" " you are still going the right way" the drive was in such a state although the place itself was lovely. I can't remember eating there - I think we just went to visit the I laws who were staying there for a couple of days ( we lived near Yeovil at the time) Did eat in quite a few posh places in that part of the world because my father in law fancied himself as a bit of a gourmet and would sometimes buy us a meal

Went to the Plough and Flail last week at Mobberley. Very good and because we booked online and it was our first visit we got 25% off everything. Definitely worth trying

The last few years have stopped the desire to chant anything but Venkys out or Kean out. Keep winning and the chants will start coming. You can't manufacture them unless you're Man utd and even then, they've had nowt new for years

tms guys all reckoned it was the right decision.

Nobody's advocating cheating - just playing to the rules which nowhere state you have to walk. And we're all hypocrites to some extent. Fact of life.
-
So how come is it cheating? He did not deliberately set out to deceive anyone. He simply stood still till told by the umpire whether to go or not. What next? goalkeepers admitting the ball may have actually crossed the line? Players asking for a booking when they foul someone, even if the ref and linesmen don't see it? Why should cricket be any different? If you deliberately seek to gain an advantage by pulling the wool over someone's eyes that's one thing but for a professional to stand still and wait (I'm presuming if the umpire had given him out, he'd have gone without a complaint) till the umpire who is in control of the match says "Out!" is surely the norm in most sports. Yes, we might all wish it were different, but it isn't and to hate someone and call them in the way you have called Broad says far more about you than it does about him.

Ashes games have been won by the odd run or 2. Need to stop the opposition getting those odd few runs - it might matter
-
Quite agree - I wish he'd been out for the 6 he probably should have been out for. I can't believe the sympathy for him. When it comes to the Ashes there's no room for sympathy or feeling sorry for opposition players

I don't like tennis but watch cricket too. Cricket's meant to be a slow sport - doesn't mean it's boring

Just been watching an article aboutthe flooding that's hit Central Europe. prague zoo had to evacuate its tigers -
Very expensive too and most people don't eat them
-
and there's me thinking I'm coming to Korea for a holiday!
-
Surely the point of eating out is that, whatever you choose, you don't have to shop, prepare, cook or clear up the kitchen and the dishes afterwards. That's why, evewn if we have gammon or steak or whatever that is fairly easy to do at home, we enjoy it - it's an easy option. and cooking steak at home is very difficult anyway

If I knew, I'd put a stop to whatever it is that's going on but it's been an issue with that lot since year 8 I think. Every now and then one of them just says cheese and the rest of them fall about laughing. I put it down to their being immature little boys and one of these days they will move onto something else. This week it was the staple of all schoolkids everywhere - paper aeroplanes. If they were half as good at French as they are at those, I'd be in teacher heaven

Not the folks i was looking at last Sunday! I'm not young myself but these folk were seriously old. anyway food was good and service was pleasant and if you find yourself in clitheroe over a Sunday lunchtime it's worth a try
-
Ate Sunday lunch at the Old Post House in Clitheroe last week. Very good value at 10.95 for 3 courses and the coffee was included. Made me feel young again too as all the people in there were at least 70 and many were older!
