Better players then an striker who's been playing in an Irish division I could score 20 goals in

    Thats one link.

Nixon hasn't had a clue or got anything right about Rovers since his mate wee Coyley left. So calling him a reputable source in terms of Rovers is pushing it. Calling Nixon a reputable source full stop is pushing it too be fair.   Big Scottish Fud. Don't even get me started on that tosser Cross either.

    Im just asking the question.

I haven't seen us linked to one player by a reputable source yet

What a reputable source? Is Nixon and Cross a reputable source?

Not overly enthused by some of the players we are linked with

    Why?

    What were you expecting?

Really pleased to see Graham sign a new deal. Never expected anything else amidst the rumoured multi year deals apparently on offer elsewhere.

Only speculation, probably agents promoting their players or whatever, but not sure thats what we need. Hector is an ok Championship defender but cant see him dislodging Mulgrew or Lenihan, nor being happy as a back up. Not seen Chalobah but surely it would make sense to loan an attacking player, maybe Hudson-Odoi, who can give us something a bit different?

    Dont know Hudson Odoi..

On us being linked with these 2 players, i deffo dont see it as paper talk at all. Come from a respectable source John Cross.

Would you have him at Rovers ?

Yes if Mowbray leaves but hope Mowbray stays along time here.

That’s all well and good, but if they don’t win football matches, he’ll be out on his ear post haste.

This isn’t a do at you by the way Chaddy, but I also don’t know who Swansea think they are by talking about a ‘philosophy’ as though they’re Barcelona. Delusions of grandeur or what?

    Not for me.

I would like to Rovers have philosphy that is played from academy level to first team level..clearly sometimes you need a plan B and play differently

Nobody, including you, know what terms DG has been or may be offered by Rovers. That is the current state of this game.

If he signs for us it will be against the terms offered. It could not be otherwise.

sorry But Mowbray wants him to stay here but we shouldn't be paying over the odds or a contract longer than 1 year due to him being 33 years old in August. We have to be very sensible and cautious

If either of these lads are decent, pretty certain they'll be out of Rovers' reach as Chelsea charge top dollar when loaning out their decent young lads.  The dross they'll let you have for nowt if your pick up the wages

    why out of Rovers reach?

Chelsea loaned players in recent seasons to Bristol City and Hull City who are similar clubs to ourselves.

I think Hector would be good loan option because of his experience and knowledge of this league.

Never seen Trevor Chalobah played so cannot comment at all on him whether he would be good, bad or what we need

Potentially concerning. Getting someone like Graham tied down to a new deal should be the first and easiest piece of business to do this summer. He's already here, clearly wants to stay here, he deserves at least another season and it really is a no-brainer to have someone with his experience in the squad for this season. To see it dragging on in such fashion is not encouraging.

Conway is less serious/urgent as he didn't perform/contribute as significantly as Graham did last season and moving forward will likely only be a squad/sub player at best, but where we stand today Graham is our primary and only striker of proven Championship quality at the club. If he goes then we're looking at needing 3 even 4 decent forwards to rebuild the attack, unless relying on Samuel and Nuttall is the plan.

If we're attempting to keep him but risking losing him by trying to get him on lesser terms than those contained within his 1 year extension option rather than merely activating the option it is a very dangerous game.

I remain confident he will stay but I'm sure he will have numerous other options in the Championship should we not cough up. We need to pay the going rate or struggle.

If Graham wants to sign here he will for the wage he being offered. I don't see him playing every game next season and I wouldn't be paying over the odds for him either.

Just had a look and Hector is one of those like Todd Kane who has had a vast number of loan clubs over the years. He's 25 now so obviously won't make a do at Chelsea and is reasonably experienced for the Championship.

I'm always wary of signing young 'talent' on loan especially after the Byrne, Samuelson, Hendrie fiasco last time round.

I can understand the point about being wary on talent from PL clubs. But we have a better manager in place than the manager(if you can call him that) at that time

Understand there's another club in for Graham as well as Bolton - bit of a surprise really.

    what other club?

Yeah hopefully not another Rekeem Harper

If Mowbray doesn't think the likes of Tomlinson and Hardcastle are not up to it they should be sent out on loan or sold.I don't see any  benefit for  them or us playing another year of u23 football

I agree on the Tomlinson/Hardcastle point. But it seems that Travis is ahead of both in the centre midfield

Another gamble on an inexperienced manager by a relegated club. Fair do's to them they're putting their faith in a young highly rated British manager but like with Moore at WBA he's got no experience of working in the pressurized environment of the Championship.

I think its a good appointment and someone who will get Swansea back the team they were under Martinez and Rodgers playing style wise.

Mirror reporting we're after Trevor Chalobah and Michael Hector on loan from Chelsea. Don't know anything about either of them except I think Hector has been at Reading on loan in the past.

Michael Hector is centre back. Was on loan at Hull last season

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michael-hector/profil/spieler/157490

Trevor Chalobah is centre back, right back, defensive midfielder. Only 18 years old

Mirror story linking us to these 2 players was written by John Cross

Cheers pal. Any reason why not? Have you been to watch him? Thanks in advance

Played 12 times for Rochdale last season. Only there for 5 months until 1st January. And didnt feature or even make the bench in the last 9 games of his loan spell.

Didnt stand out against us either.

Another one in the bin for me

Even though you said the other day that youd pick Dier over Henderson?

Thought it was Dier in not henderson. My fault..

    Just now, RevidgeBlue said:

That's an exceptionally negative line up for me. Essentially you've got 5 defenders, 3 midfielders, Sterling who half the time couldn't hit a the proverbial cow's backside with a banjo and Kane.

If that's the line up then for me Southgate is guilty of overthinking it way too much.  I would also have Rashford in ahead of Sterling who I expect to be a massive flop yet again.

Guess the proof of the pudding will be in the eating as always.

I see it has a good attacking line up. 2 attacking wing backs, 1 holding midfielder, 3 attacking midfielder and 1 striker..

Because maybe In your opinion you think we should and could give reasons why which would add to debate. You could still suggest what you think Tony will do and if you agree or not

I think young players is the right policy at this time given the transfer budget and wage budget Mowbray got from the owners(based of all the comments made from the owners trip by Mowbray and Waggott).

I think some suggestions of players from PL are far from realistic and pointless like Ki from Swansea. Wages would be massive problem. As alot of PL players who are out of contract would be.

Now if an outstanding player above 25 years old can available and fitted within our transfer and wage budget then fair enough but I feel this very unlikely to happen

Sometimes I think you misinterpret that it's your personal opinion of what should be done, who should be bought etc. Not what Tony thinks or has said. It's your opinion we are interested in. We all know what Tony has said/thinks

And you and some others misinterpret that my opinion is based around the manager comments who has specific the age group of signings he looking to sign from. So I based my suggestion of signings around that.

I didnt see the point of suggesting players out of that age bracket.
