  1. I'm working in Huyton this week. Tomorrow will definitely be different, as most of the footie fans at Knowsley's IT centre are Everton fans and they were all up for Milan winning! And they still think Liverpool will get the 4th Champions League spot instead of them, even though they've been told otherwise. Oh, I can't wait to start winding them up!
  2. Click HERE to take a look at the HP Pavillion range of notebooks. Don't baulk at the price, you get a LOT of machine for your money. I've had the 17" zd7050ea for 16 months and it is THE best laptop I've ever used (and I've used a few!).
  3. I heard Radio Lancashire's interview with Parkes on my way home from work. He was asked to explain the comment he made during his speech at the end when he said something like "See you all next season". Rather than being back working at Ewood(!), he's simply going to come and support the team like the rest of us. Anyway, like everybody's already said - what a top night and cheers, Tony.
  4. Here's the final Premiership table:- 1 Chelsea 2 Arsenal 3 Man Utd 4 Everton 5 Liverpool 6 Bolton 7 Middlesbrough 8 Man City 9 Tottenham 10 Aston Villa 11 Charlton 12 Birmingham 13 Fulham 14 Newcastle 15 Blackburn 16 Portsmouth 17 West Brom 18 Crystal Palace 19 Norwich 20 Southampton and here's my prediction at the start of the season:- I got a grand total of 3 correct placings, but overall I thought my predictions (Everton excepted!) were pretty accurate. So, how did you do?
  5. The Dingles excepted, for me this is the most attractive game of the season at Ewood Park. Compared to some of the crap that we've had to put up with for almost 2 YEARS, this is a chance to really enjoy ourselves (remember that?), no matter what the result. We get a final chance this season to cheer the players after the damp squib that was last week's post-match lap of dishonour. We get another chance to appreciate what we really had in our midst 10 years ago. Will this moment ever happen again? Probably not, as the Championship winning team are not getting any younger and many will soon be past the stage where they can make guest appearances in showpiece games. The logistics of getting them all together must have been a real headache, a nearly impossible task. But they are ALL turning out again in tribute to one man. A man we are unlikely to see emulated again in our life times at Ewood Park. Finally, but most important of all, we the fans get to say a very big THANK YOU to Tony Parkes, a man who gave 35 of the best years of his life to our cause. For you and me. For Blackburn Rovers. A man who pulled us out of the sh1t with almost monotonous regularity. A man who I can honestly say I've never heard a bad word about, be that from fellow fans or via our blood-hungry press. A man who handled the debacle of his sacking from our club with the utmost dignity. And the ground's only going to be around a third full? I really do despair over our "fans" sometimes.
  6. [smug Mode on] It couldn't happen to a nicer club! ! I can't wait to walk into the Woolpack tomorrow evening - I can hear them moaning already! It's just a pity they've had their last home game of the season. Or was that merely a wise move by the Yank?
  7. Got my tickets late Monday afternoon. Just 8 days before the game I was able to get 6 bang in the centre of the Blackburn End, which surprised me as I thought this would have been the 1st area of the B.E. stand to be snapped up.
  8. Got my ticket - row 8, seat 10 - near the corner flag. The mini-bus leaves Haslingden at 11am, so we should be on the lash at Anfield by 12pm. Will probably go in that strange, triangular-shaped pub opposite the school, just down the road from the ground. Hope to see some of you in there.
  9. AWESOME (again)!! Well done the BRFCS SAS!! I just hope Andy Cole is injured for Sunday, otherwise he'll get a season's worth of chances in one game against that leaky Hammers defence. The 'keeper's not bad though .....
  10. Great news. Todd wasn't exactly my No.1 player for his first 12 months or so at the club, but I'm honest enough to admit that he's won me over big time. That stint at the Dingles must have really hit home how low he had sunk! And I can't see beyond him for a 2nd successive Player of the Year.
  11. Cheers for the link to my website Glenn, but the credit for this animated GIF should go to our own LeChuck via this post HERE. I simply saved a copy for my own use.
  12. Quality writing Sox. But, if my eyes didn't deceive me, you'd only opened 1 can of ale by the time you hit the M4. Very disappointing. Prediction: 2-2 after extra time, with Rovers to win on penalties.
  13. Just bought 9 tickets for Cardiff. The only £45 tickets left were in block U3. The girl that served me stressed that after this block is sold out it's the £55 tickets or nothing because the West Stand tickets will definitely not be going on sale. When I came out of the club shop 30 minutes later there was a queue of around 15 people, so, it's likely that we may yet sell out (of tickets that went on sale, that is!).
  14. This is the FA's official line with regards to why the semi-finals are at Cardiff this season and then at the new Wembley Stadium each season after - Click me. Another BBC link detailing the top 10 clubs in the FA Cup's history - here - makes good reading for Rovers fans.
  15. Re: Chelsea v Barcelona Sometimes it's a privilege to watch a game of football. Some games are just meant to be. This was one of them. Enthralling from the first minute to the last. Well done Chelsea. Oh, and AC Milan!
  16. Almost time to review this thread, but having a sneak preview, it's amazing just how many of us predicted Everton would be relegated!
  17. I reckon there were only 400 or so Rovers fans there. Definitely the worst following I've seen for a long time at such a local match. But I'm not blaming anyone for not attending. The Cup run has meant that we've all had to pay for a lot of matches in a short space of time and not everyone's blessed with an overflowing wallet. Plus, there's more big games to shell out on over the next few weeks. I don't know how it came across on TV, but the Rovers fans present gave the team tremendous support right from the first minute. By comparison, all we heard from the home fans was the odd chorus of "Emerton" for some strange reason! That result really was massive in the context of our season. The weekend's other results had dragged us right back into the relegation dogfight, but that win keeps us 7 points above the Saints. That's 3 games where they've got to pull points back on us and they've only got 9 games left (including a defeat at Ewood to come!). I reckon it's going to be an enjoyable last couple of months of the season. Here's to 2 trips to Cardiff and our first win at Old Trafford for God knows how long!
  18. Like others, I can't see much further than a less-than-thrilling 0-0. draw, though if I have to be stretched, I might just suggest Nelson popping in his 1st Rovers goal from an MGP corner. [strange offer time (why would you only need a lift one-way?). I'll be going to this one straight from work on Sunday, so I'll have an empty car if anyone needs a lift home to East Lancs after the match. PM me if interested.]
  19. I see the Dingles are repeating their money-making exercise of last time and charging the inbreds £3 for a seat on the coaches to Ewood - Click here. And they reckon they're going to need 150 of them!
  20. Am I the only one struggling to rediscover the "kid at Christmas" feeling for the replay that I had for the 1st game? No doubt it will change come this time next week, but at the moment it feels like just another game. Even the non-stop banter with my Dingle mates has dropped to no'but a trickle. Having said that, I still can't bear the thought of possibly losing to the inbreds!
  21. Went to see Paul Weller last night at Manchester Apollo (superb, as usual). It was interesting to see that Tris was on keyboards again, just like last time, although when quizzed he always denies that it's him.
  22. BLX to her Gav. Footie v the Dingles is more important than any woman. Acquire the ticket at your first opportunity and don't look back. If all goes well, we'll see you in the ground come Sunday.
  23. This stupid git is showing himself up to be a complete @#/? every time he opens his cavernous, porridge-swallowing gob. Anybody who knows anything about English football knows that Rovers v Bolton is NOT the derby match in this part of the world and will see through him like the used piece of bog roll that he is. It doesn't matter how he tries to justify his return north of Hadrian's (should be rebuilt) Wall, he knows, we know, EVERYONE KNOWS that he failed in England.
  24. This is a real no-brainer ..... Gav, put her in her place. Tell her you'll buy her a new iron to use while she's watching the match. SAVE GAV. DON'T LET DEBS WIN.
