  1. Think that is quite accurate, especially that both Gallagher and Armstrong are not hold up players like Graham. Gallagher for me is quite similar to Samuel, probably an upgrade. Armstrong lacks height and power, but is quicker, more dynamic and more of a goalscorer.
  2. Do you have any suggestions? Last season only two players reached double digits, Vydra and Grabban. Grabban just moved to Forest for 6 million and Vydra would cost far more in and is on 30k at Derby. Season before that you had Chris Woods, Dwight Gayle, Tammy Abraham and Glenn Murray with 20+ so you are looking at a very limited group and very expensive group with 20+ credentials. As I mentioned before it have to be punt on an old-timer, a PL loan or a lower league prospect. Could we revive someone like Ross McCormak without disrupting team morale? Would Nchema be the next Tammy Abraham? Seems like most of the lower league prospect like Marriot, Eisa and McNulty has already moved this transfer window.
  3. Problem is that very few get 15+ in Championship and players who have done are usually at bigger clubs or PL. So your options either going for another Graham (aging striker who done it before but not delivered recently), a young potential (Gallagher, Nchema etc) or lower leaguer (can they make the step up?=
  4. I doubt he was suprised by the Bamford fee. If anything if was less then expected by the media. Could be Gallagher's linked 7 mill move to Stoke, which suprised most people.
  5. I didn't read it as they being on the D list. Appearantly they where very much in the mix so they could be anywhere from lower on the B list all the way to D. It was clear that he was aiming higher which is interesting as those two are highly rated among the supporters. He does set himself up for a bit of failure if we don't land them or someone better though.
  6. Think so, but we could never afford those wages which was the reason he couldn't agree a new contract. Far too good for Championship so I reckon he will have a payday in China or somewhere exotic.
  7. That list of signings looks very similar to the Coyle summer list when we went down. Some might turn out ok like Mulgrew. They have a better manager then Coyle, and they will probably have more fight than quality. Magennis is an awkward customer, though never prolific. Otzumer has quality, but I'm not sure how he fits in in Parkinson's tactics. He couldn't get the best out of Armstrong so I have my doubts.
  8. Harrison has signed for Ipswich. Ipswich are also rumoured to be interested in Kayden Jackson of Accrington Stanley who played well against us on Saturday.
  9. People shouldn't trust https://twitter.com/McConnellJamie as a source. He just seen Bennett's interview and done a spin on it, hence he is not giving the name of the second player.
  10. There is nothing unusual, that's the result of running a 2 mill decifit each month. That's 24 mill each year. People overestimate the impact of transfer fees, when it's wages that kills you.
  11. Where did he say that? The only thing I've seen is that Boro wanted to see him in pre-season before any decisions. Rich Sharpe says he always thought a transfer for Chapman would be more unlikely than likely. Wonderful run, would really like him back.
  12. QPR settles FFP violation with transfer ban i January and 20 million fine https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/qpr-settle-ffp-dispute-with-efl/
  13. That was my whole point. Mowbray claims he has a budget he can work with so surely the responsibility lies with him. No doubt there has been some misjudgements somewhere regarding getting players in, I'm also worried about permanent signings turning into loans at this stage. You're not the only one sick of repeating yourself, but I'm not going to put you on ignore. No point being on a message board if I want an echo chamber, so stay active
  14. Samuel played for the most part right winger. Changed sides with Bennett a couple of times and I think for the last 5 minutes he was deployed as a striker with Graham dropping down to right wing. He did well to be fair. A bit of enigma that at one point powered through 3 defenders and in the next moment fails to control a simple ball.
  15. EH? So you trust Mowbray, but not what he says publicly. Mowbray has been given a budget he seems happy with: "The Owners understand that, to that point that I think the budget we've been given is going to be substantial enough to add some quality players and not break wage structure" https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/may/tony-mowbray-qa-part-two/
  16. Excellent performance. This was probably very close to our starting lineup. You could tell that this was the backbone of the promotion team. Well organised and suprisingly fluid (given our lack of attacking options). Dack was MOM, but also credit to Smallwood and Evans in the midfield who never gave the ball away. Won a lot of second balls with high pressure.
  17. Kasey Palmer would be a coup. You take that kind of quality even for half a season.
  18. There is nothing to suggest that the delay lays with the owners. Mowbray has had full control over the last two transfers windows and have gone public saying he has a budget to buy players. He has also said that he is confident that he will get there. So if there is a lack of trust it has to be on Mowbray.
  19. Apperantly Ipswich's manager is also getting his patience tested regarding transfers: “It all takes time and patience is a word which I have to keep using and it’s certainly testing my patience.” https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/34034
  20. He played 36 games, 26 starts. Certainly played a lot of games with Payne and was used in different positions as winger, central and attacking midfielder. Oxford fans seems to think he has the ability to play in the Championship but need consistency in the performances. I think he's bought as a squad player with potential rather than a starter. http://www.soccerbase.com is an excellent site for those who wants statistics
  21. You could argue that Rothwell was his replacement but he is more of a midfield type than an attacking midfielder that unlocks defences.
  22. I belong to the positive camp, however JHRover has a valid point. It's not that we should sign Antonsson og Payne, but they need to be replaced. Antonsson for all his shortcomings was an option on the left side that brought some goals. Payne was useful as an impact sub and also the only one who could fill Dacks role. Right now we lack 3 players to fill those roles. The pace of Armstrong, Antonsson's goal and Payne's creativity.
  23. The team Maddison was close to join was WBA. The PBoro chairman tweeted Yesterday that the deal was that WBA moved out McLaren first, then they went and got a loan winger instead, so he didn't sound too pleased. We were never in the running apperantly. Currently Maddison played for PBoro and doesn't seem to go anywhere. Marriott has gone to Derby and it seemed the PBoro auction wasn't that successful as Derby was the only team bidding.
