[Archived] Striker Signs!

Beat me to it SDS - I can only presume that BRFCS.com website address isn't handed out in the Rovers induction pack -
Well after that fantastic piece from Four Lane Blue it's obvious to me who the best right back of all time for BRFC is. While we'd all like to vote for Lucas Neill ( ) surely there can only be one winner here, Bob Crompton.

Hughesy... Well that's that cleared up then. He's tall, he's quick ( ) and he's played and scored a few goals in Serie A (which isn't easy). I've got a bizarre idea - I'm going to wait until I see him play before deciding if he's any good or not -

Tremendous news. I'm very happy indeed. One thing - in the two years that he's been at Rovers what has he done to convince anyone to buy him? What has Steve Bruce seen in him to suggest that he should give him a contract? Sorry but I've just not seen it myself. Then again I sit on my arse in an office all day and Steve Bruce is a Professional Football Manager. He only had to ask me (I'd have lied BTW). Like I care Nice one Steve -

A bit like a poor horror filum though Bryan - where they say "Thank God that's all over - it / he / she's dead" only for it / he / she is still alive and there's another massive scare to come. We've been here too many times (well at least twice) when we've declared "Thank God he's gone". I'll believe it when I see it on Sky or on the Official Site - and even then I'm bolting the doors tonight. -

Ricky will have to do a lot better than that Did Portsmouth actually make an official bid? Anyway, Souness has given Yorkieo a second chance and let's be honest he hasn't taken it. Jogging around after his old team mates on Saturday said it all for me. Hopefully this'll go through and all will be well. I'd sooner see Gallagher and Jansen given the chance - Yorkester was only getting in the way of their progress IMO. Anyway - one side note for those that care about the SPL - this'll give Rangers a chance to catch Celtic now after the title looked all but won. Kamy - you've five more minutes and then I'm afraid you'll have to stop being silly and come back to reality. -
Matt needs to start going out night clubbing for a few weeks, not work hard in training, just generally go off the rails a bit, then when he's fooled everyone that he just doesn't care he should start trying his heart out again. Before you know it - Bingo!! He's our number one striker!

Have a look here Hughesy - on the front page - about half way down on the left hand side. It's all on there you know. -

Link!!?! I'll take a guess at Souness' right hand to Wiley's right hand. -

Ah, yes, but - I'm sure I read in one of the Sunday papers that referee Alan Wiley is expected to be out for at least a three to four weeks after mysteriously breaking every bone in his right hand sometime during Saturday afternoon. -

Manchester Blue, as well. What a load of crap. The fella is allegedly paid 35k a week. The least he can do is run around a bit, perhaps put O'Shea under pressure for a second or two instead of just jogging slowly towards him and letting him clear the ball. I'm not blaming anyone for the lack of 3 points - other than the ref - and I do appreciate that it was a hard job he had on his hands when it we were down to 10. BUT - BUT - Work your socks off man! Do the business! Pretend you give a sh*t at least! Run yourself into the ground for 30 minutes. Don't get me wrong - If Yorke had scored the goal that Dickov scored today I'd be right behind him. There seems to be a bit of confusion on here now and again, that hard work and good goals aren't compatible. I find that quite incredible, considering that Alan Shearer once played for this football club. -

No, fair play to Yorkie - made me proud. The way he jogged around closing players down. That silly Dickov chose to sprint around all match, chased the impossible. How silly. Did anyone else see Yorke welcoming the United team into Ewood on Sky? Made me really proud. I thought, "There's a player who doesn't give a flying ....... how we get on today. Thanks for your tireless jogging in closing players down Dwight. You thief." accyrover - Nuff said. Spot on. -

Well if you're looking for positives, we haven't lost a single game this season when we've scored first. -

Well if you're looking for positives, we haven't lost a single game at home this season when we've taken the lead. Indeed, this is true away from home as well, with the exception of the Southampton game. -

No chance of that happening. Yorke will start on the bench and only do his "Caribbean slug" (copyright AESF) impression in the second half. I've prayed to the lord grand master, chief wizard of Cheese. Although I've not heard anything back to date, I've a feeling that we're going to do it. 2-1 to the Rovers - and we'll get a penalty. Don't know who's playing, don't know where they're playing, don't know who scores - we'll win purely because no one likes this lot. The fans will put their growing frustration to one side and concentrate on getting behind the team and giving united a good hiding. Arsenal away was a completely different prospect. This lot are beatable, as it'll no doubt be pointed out to us on several occasions by their fans if we do win, they have " 'alf a bleedin' team awt guvnor - and you bought the ref / title / some players" etc. -
Don't like the sound of that! Based on the number of "passes"? What if he's having a blinder and passing all over the pitch to all and sundry? He'll cost us a fortune. "and in that first half Perdersen made an astonishing 127 passes to his team mates." "Yes that's great news for the lad Andy, but it's cost Blackburn £12,700. If he keeps this up over the course of the season he'll cost them another million!" Cut to the second half and the Rovers Directors are going mad "Take him on Morst Gamst Pedersen!! Don't pass!! Take him on!! Skin him!!" in scenes reminiscent of that time back in 1927 when there was last an atmosphere on that side of the ground. Actually, I've changed my mind - great idea. I look forward to seeing him tomorrow, hopefully he'll leave that cretin Neville in bits.

[Archived] Verdict On Souness
bob fleming replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I agree with all of the above. I think I'm getting to that stage where the jury is out but they have jumped off the fence and are fighting over each other in their eagerness to get back into court. I've heard the Gallagher rumours as well. He'll no doubt be getting the "big head on" then. I keep telling myself that it was Arsenal that we lost to last night, that it was to be expected and that I shouldn't be too upset (I lost £2 by the way Hughesy - my solicitor will be in touch). I'm losing patience with the whole set up to be honest and I'm clearly not alone. I can only see this going one way I'm afraid - and that doesn't make me feel any better at all in the slightest. As Alan said can someone please convince me that Souness is still the man. That he's the manager to take us forward? Happy days. -
Ha! Ha! Very good! Ha! Wibble. Ziiiip. Baa!! Mooo.
-
Hughesy!! We're 10/1 to get a win for heavens sake. They've not lost in 42 games. Did you see them on Sunday against 'Boro? 3-1 down and then they just stepped up a couple of gears to score four without breaking sweat. Only a lunatic (and West Aussie) would predict a win for us. If an Arsenal fan came on this messageboard and saw that we'd all forecast away wins he'd be entitled to think that he'd actually logged onto www.roversfansonacid.com For what it's worth I'm going to put a few quid on us - but I really can't see us doing it.

Get "The Real Thing" and "Angel Dust", probably their finest moments. Also check out "Introduce Yourself" - very good indeed - it's with their first singer Chuck Mosley (?) and is a bit different to their later stuff - it has the classic "We Care A Lot" on it. Which reminds me I'm gonna try and get that album on CD.
