So many wonderful players in that list. I was shocked to see that snake Dougan.
In the early fifties we were struggling to avoid relegation to the third division (which would have been for the first time). Quigley and the ageing Langton were game changers as were Kelly, Elvy and Briggs.
I've voted for the most obvious ones having to leave out the wonderful fans favourite Ferguson. People think of Garner like I do of Tommy Briggs.
Who tells the story…not 150 best, favourite…👍

You're going to be getting me in trouble for buy all these bloody Rovers shirts.
+1 here.
Short sleeve? I know the originals were long sleeve but this style is a really good summer shirt.
There may be other solutions for short sleeves…take it into a local seamstress 😉
The challenge is having to hit minimum production runs in two designs.

How quickly can you turn around a white kit with a blue maltese cross, with a 135/15 logo on the inside, sold with an independent assessment of the last 15 years of Venkys ownership, at less than £90?
I notice rumoured 150th anniversary kit has no trademarked items on it.
About 8-10 weeks…

We're pretty unusual as far as I can tell in the badges that we've had during our long history.
There's the uncertainty / confusion / lack of evidence around the Maltese cross, but even if it was adopted and used it wasn't really a club badge and certainly doesn't appear to have been worn for very long, maybe the first couple of years or so at most.
Then - I hope I am right - we didn't have any emblem or badge through most of our history from say the 1880s until the 1970s - aside from special occasions like the 60 FA Cup final when we wore the town coat of arms on the shirt
Then from the 70s into the 80s we had a boring and limited effort of the 'red rose' badge with simply 'BRFC' underneath. I would be interested to know the background to this - I suspect a decision was made in the 70s in keeping with the direction of travel in football that we needed an emblem or badge and this was the easiest/quickest thing they could come up with.
I also suspect that by the late 80s they realised with the rapidly changing world of design, trademarks, kits and everything else that the red rose badge wasn't acceptable in the modern era and we needed to get ourselves a proper badge with the club name on it, which is how we ended up with the current badge.
The current badge - which has been through a few different forms and reincarnations - has a confusing history too. As per the above this appeared on club programmes as far back as the 60s, but not on the shirts until the late 80s/early 90s.
Strange that we would design and adopt a badge to use on programmes and letterheads etc. but not use it on kits and then use a totally different badge of the red rose on kits - maybe because that one was cheaper and easier to transfer to shirts than the quite complex design of the current one.
It probably all comes back to the uniqueness of the blue and white halves which have always been the club's USP and for what it is known around the world and this previously negated the need to have a badge. Obviously in the modern era we need a modern badge that meets trademark requirements and can be mass produced.
Back to the anniversary, I'd have preferred either for us to 'update' the current badge for the occasion or if we wanted to go traditional either not have a badge at all for the special kit or perhaps use the town coat of arms version for the special occasion.
This was the club badge when I first started going to Ewood in the 60's - it was on decals in the Nuttall St stand for sure & started being used on the programme (replacing the town crest) in 67/68.
The Tudor rose badge is the first (non-town crest) badge I recall on the shirt - replaced eventually by "the club badge".

Surely it's a nod to those founding members in 1875. A celebration of the club's foundation and the men who gathered to form the club. The club have been aware of those original minutes and have acknowledged them with a kit that those original founders envisaged in 1875. Personally, I think it's a fitting tribute.

Well I'm writing off their blunder I genuinely can't be arsed dwelling on it anymore, the big voices amongst our fan base spoke out and threw a ton of ideas forward to make this not only a memorable occasion but to produce a shirt that will get people excited and wanting to own a piece of history.
Theres been nothing in the club shop, the game is Saturday, nothing was even marked anywhere for yesterday, no happy birthday no fk all. Theyve really soured the xelebration completely.
if stocks last ill be buying one off @Herbie6590 soon, and marking our 150th in my own way by putting my arse in JW upper and having the day off from all the junk these owners have produced for us.
It's our heritage and we should be proud. 15 years is a long time yes but not a patch on our triumphs and heroes that have all come before us.
We have M, L & 2XL left...£63 inc P&P - DM me if you want one...

Not answered my question:
So even if it was very briefly a badge for some players, in possibly a white shirt, why has the entire anniversary season been built on that mere foot note, not 148 other years of history and achievement? I.e said achievements in blue and white?
Someone at the club (probably in marketing) has said something along the lines of
Marketing Guru: "If we market another blue & white halved shirt it won't sell as well as a differentiated product will...there is a belief that we wore a white shirt once...we should produce a white shirt as the anniversary kit then we don't cannibalise sales of this season's home kit..."
SP: "Make sure you bump the price..."
MG: "On it..."

OK...the badge first worn by (some) of our players 😉

Just my opinion but if we played 140+ years in blue and white. Let's have blue and white as a shirt on the 150th year anniversary.
It’s like someone organising my funeral and needing a photo to represent my life, and they choose a picture of a girlfriend I dated for a year instead of my wife of over sixty years. Utterly baffling. 🤣I agree with this entirely - the kit consultation group (that was almost entirely ignored) made this exact point...I wanted the Bob Crompton shirt for our anniversary kit...we might have to do a BRFCS version then eh ? 😉

The club, for a very short period, may well have worn a white shirt, no pictorial evidence, but ok.
A few players with certain Midland public school connections may well have worn a Maltese Cross, certainly an interesting tidbit.
However, Blackburn Rovers, if known for anything is our unique blue and white, the blue and white all our achievements have been enveloped in… yet, the regime has ignored all that and focused relentlessly on the Maltese Cross which was a mere footnote of our wonderful heritage, why?
Because it has been documented (albeit only in writing) that it was our 1st badge...

Agreed. Apologies for that. At the end of the day people will believe what they want. Personally, until I see evidence to the contrary, I'm sticking with the white shirt for the initial games and then at some point in the first two seasons it changed to a form of blue and white.
It certainly wasn't a criticism...it was an observation that we seem to be looking for a stick to beat the club with & I suspect you too are exasperated at the circular nature of this discussion 😉

Maguire’s major issue is that he tries to spread himself too thin with financial ‘insights’ into all clubs.
So it’s all very superficial. ‘The Venky’s put in 20 million s year, great owners’ is as far as the ‘analysis’ goes.
Agreed…he can rightly criticise Steve Dale, Dai Yongge & Chansiri so by comparison, Venky’s look supportive. If they owned Brighton his view would be different.
