  1. I’ve Tweeted some thoughts from BRFCS - trying to think of a benign explanation...

    - obtain planning permission, increase value of assets in the balance sheet, window dressing exercise

    - frees up some equity from the estate...move the STC to another site ?

BUT...more likely...sell off part of the land, consolidate into smaller site, cash inflow reduces debt owed to VLL.

This is what I feared would happen 8 or 9 years ago TBH.

For the club to not issue a press release suggests they hoped it wouldn’t get picked up or they don’t care what we think.

This is likely just fantasy, but I don't suppose there's any way to automatically block posts that quote a user you have on ignore is there?

    Thanks.

My understanding is sadly, No...but if it turns out I’m wrong I’m all ears 😉

Unfortunately this is technically  not the case.  The share capital conversions are in the VLL company. Within the BRFC company it is all loans. I.e. VLL can call in the loan and demand  payment from BRFC.

Of course that's not to say that the Rao's ever will do this but they retain the legal right to do so.

I've just checked back and the last filed accounts for BRFC show £127m owed to VLL at 30/06/19 within creditors payable within 1 year. There will have been much more loans since then with no share capital changes since then.

You are correct, I was referencing VLL re the share issues. The funding from the ultimate parent in India comes in as share capital.

Stuart is right.  This is like what happened with Bolton, we are not in debt to any financial institution but we are in debt to Venky's and if they decide to recall that debt then we will be in big trouble (not that there is any suggestion that they will do this at the moment).

There are different scenarios where they could sell the club and write off debt etc.

I don't feel like that they are some sort of heros for continuing to put money into the club, they created this mess and I give them some credit for not walking away but all of this is their fault, they did not listen to people who were giving them proper advice when it was clear to the even the biggest idiot that they were being taken for fools.

It’s a bit more nuanced Kamy...they tend to convert the debt to shares thereby signalling that it’s a permanent investment in the balance sheet. If it remained as “on call” loans then that might signal a cause for greater concern.

Frankly, whether loans or share capital, the only realistic way that they ever get their money back is turn us into a solid Premier League side that can count on ever-growing TV revenues...or we develop 11 Phil Fodens through the academy...

  5. Quick heads up to let you all know that we have teamed up with Rovers Radio to use our podcasting...er...expertise...to produce jointly a show bringing together football & music in a Rovers theme.

The first episode is in the can as the professionals might say & Rovers Radio will publish the first episode next Sunday morning on their site & hopefully it will become a regular feature.

More details to follow later this week....👍🏻

OK, well I’ll qualify it with a serious response, just incase.

We’ve always changed thread titles. It’s just with the latest forum software you can see (or I’m guessing you can) who changed the title and when. When I say always, usually it’s not for attempted comedy like in this instance, usually if a thread goes off topic or details about a game change / aren’t included I will tweak the thread title to be suitable.

I changed the title of the thread because I found it funny. I really enjoyed StevenSK getting wine recommendations half way through the thread because I was expecting chaos when I logged in — which usually happens when we lose. To his credit, Mercer took it very well and I’ve had a few laugh out loud moments this evening reading the replies. I’ve also found it thoroughly refreshing that the thread isn’t full of arguments and bickering. We’ve had two reports tonight in this thread, usually after a loss we’re closer to ten.

I may have misjudged the situation, honestly from viewing the replies I can only see that you’ve found offence, if it’s only you then my honest thoughts are ‘so be it’ but if it’s genuinely upset anyone else please do speak or (either on private message or publicly here) and if the general consensus is that it’s not appreciated I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Either way, as always, thank you for having an opinion. This website is run at this stage solely by a small sponsorship deal and volunteers, it’s sometimes great and sometimes a bit of a burden. We won’t always get it right but we will always try to do the best to keep the site going, improve on it and at a minimum keep the community open to anyone that wishes to be part of it and respect it.

This site is run on “benevolent dictator” principles....we just need to master the benevolent bit & we’ve cracked it 😁

I’m so pissed off with this teams consistent failings when it comes to the top six. I could write a long post trying to emphasis the point but at this stage, I’m with StevenSK, I realise it’s pointless and instead should turn this into #MercersWineClub.

@MercerI’m looking for a white to go with sea bass tomorrow evening, maximum budget £20, typically stay in the NZ Sauvignon territory. I’ll be buying from Whalley Wine Shop, so ideally something they will have it stock.

    Cloudy Bay (Sauvignon)

    is Mrs H’s recommendation 👍🏻
