Damned embarrassing TS. Ten players out through injury/virus that's hit the club this week. That would have been enough to scupper most squads but even so, we still had several internationals playing who should have given a better account of themselves. I am driving through Warrington tomorrow, so I'll be taking the Wigan team replica out of my windscreen in case any eggs get thrown at the car! Still, (and luckily) nowt's won in April. -
Absolutely made up for AJ. Didn't watch the fight but look forward to doing so shortly. I don't get too worked up about Fury tbh. For twenty years I worked in an industry where you regularly came across gypsies. Some of them were what I termed absolute vermin but others (admittedly a much smaller percentage) were just fine and you could have a laugh with them. They have their ways and it's in their genes and how they are brought up. When AJ and Fury meet, assuming Fury still holds his belt, Fury will get knocked into kingdom come.

Hardly. A flare had been thrown near the pitch towards the end of the game by a Salford fan. Family and children of some of the Salford players were in the same stand and two of the Salford players went over to make sure their kids were safe. Obviously words were exchanged and it certainly seemed to get heated (pardon the pun). No scrapping at all. -

Yes, we. First game in 1994, started going regularly in 2000 and me and the Mrs have been season ticket holders for several years :-) -

Pretty good performance by Wigan today and a great atmosphere amongst the 4200 travelling away fans. Thought we could have won by more to be honest, with a few of the 50/50 decisions going Saints' way. We defended resolutely especially in the second half and with a bit more luck could have sewn things up a lot earlier. -
Damien Duff Hangs Up His Boots

Don't remember him TS, only Beattie and Thomas. I know that for some cup games they were allowed to merge the two youth teams. May be it was Beattie and Thomas when they did that but I don't remember Cassin or whoever. Perhaps he played prop for the Hornets? :-) -

One of my all time favourites. I used to watch the youth teams down at Brockhall in that period when Duffer played for them. I even watched them away on one occasion and that was down to Duffer in the main. Unbelievable player, Damien I salute you. The lad that played up front with Beattie was James Thomas. Just as good as Beattie at that level and time but, whilst he played professional football, did it in the lower leagues from memory. -
I'm not a boxing expert by any means but just watched Cardle v Dodd. What a fight, two lads slugging it out to the finish. If you enjoy boxing, these two guys gave their all.

It's not really a lovefest, Simon, it's just that originally coming from Darwen, I have always been a believer in supporting my local team, be that association football or rugby league football. Wigan are that. Yes, I also salute Leeds' achievements this season. They are a great side and I suppose with Peacock and Sinfield leaving it was written in the stars that the treble was on. I have a lot of time for Jamie Peacock. A really nice bloke and a learned one at that in addition to one at the top of his game for so long. -

Ok, my middle name's 'unlucky.' Five visits to Old Trafford for the Grand Final, five defeats. Disappointed, yes but all you can ask is for your team to play well and give their all. They did that and it could have gone either way. In fact the last two visits to Old Trafford could have gone either way. That little bit of bad or good luck can often be the difference. I'll definitely be looking at Leeds' second try again though, more than a hint off a knock on and they certainly had enough looks at it on the big screen. -
Called in to see the boss a few days before his first game and asked to shave. Givet added, 'I have not converted to Islam.'

Ordered two £40 tickets yesterday dinner time, landed on the mat this morning. East stand behind the sticks. -

What do you mean, my middle name's Lucky! Didn't realise England were playing. That will account for the stupid hotel prices. One we looked at wanted £800 for one night! -

Well, whilst I think the place should have been packed to the rafters, I suppose people have their own reasons including financial restraints. This game wasn't covered by your season ticket so season ticket holders had to pay. The Grand Final next week will be an expensive day out. Tonight's game was on a Thursday and Thursday games haven't gone down well generally by Rugby League supporters across the board. Sky dictate when games are played and the game was on TV. People at work the next day and so on. Roll on next Saturday and another day of food and drink in Manchester! -

Great game tonight and great atmosphere given the attendance was only 10k. Very clinical by Wigan who were dominant throughout. Made up for John Bateman (getting m.o.m), he never takes a backward step and is a real warrior. This will be my 5th Grand Final and I still haven't seen them win....yet. -
Where Are They Now?

I think Walney Blue is downright genuine and I've enjoyed his posts. Anyway Captain Pugwash is calling so just off upstairs to check for Seaman Staines, Roger the Cabin Boy and damn, I can't remember the third one! Edit - Master Bates! -

Superb Wigan second half performance tonight Clare and yes the Super8s have been a great success. I think, on balance, I would prefer to play Huddersfield rather than Saints in the semi. Not taking anything away from Huddersfield (they keep getting nearer) but derbies are hard to predict. Anyway, you just have to play whoever are put before you. We are the form team at the moment but it'll be a close 'un. -

Didn't see it woolfie as we're over in Greece at the moment. Sounded a good game and very close. I was keeping touch via the BBC sport app. I am quietly confident regarding Wigan but it's a bit too close to call. If Huddersfield can beat Leeds next week, they will take some stopping but they've never really had that big game mentality. Wouldn't like to have to put money on it though. -

Haha, we don't want them anywhere near Wigan pal! They wouldn't dare set foot in the place anyway! -

Went to the Hazel Pear at Acton Bridge (a few miles west of Northwich) on Saturday night. Another 'restaurant in a pub' experience of which there are many in this neck of the woods. Excellent food, two mains, two sweets, two pints of best bitter and one large glass of wine came in at £50. About right for here. The lad that served us was a season ticket holder at Ewood to boot.

Prior to Super 8s each team has played 23 games, ie. each other team home and away plus the Magic Weekend fixture. After the 23 games, the top 8 teams are therefore the ones in Super 8s. These teams then play each other with the points from the regular season being carried forward. Each team therefore plays 7 games, 4 at home and 3 away dependent upon where you finished in the table after your 23 games. Once all the games have been played, the top four placings play semi finals (1v4 and 2v3) for a place in the Grand Final at Old Trafford. The winners at Old Trafford are the champions! There are 12 teams in Super League. The bottom 4 teams at the 23 games stage then play in the Middle 8s, which follows a similar pattern to Super 8s, the other 4 teams being from the league below, the Championship. They play for a single place in the Super League.
