Premier League
Claytons Left Boot replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He just has taken them forward. He’s won their fourth European trophy, the last one being 41 years ago. They last won the league 64 years ago and they’re not going to win it any time soon, irrespective of who their manager is. Slow and steady progress is the key with Spurs but, like most clubs, they just will not wait and want more success now. I’ve got news for them. They ain’t gonna get it. He told them he’d win a trophy in his second season and he delivered. A good trophy it was too. -

In their ‘corporate-bullsh!t-statement’ they say Ange was sacked ‘after significant reflection.’ Pull the other one. Absolute disgrace after what he has just achieved for them. Perfectly sums up the English game and the need for success and the need for that success now. Or in Spurs’ case, the need for even more success now. -

Wow, that’s some statement. Thankfully, it’s incorrect. Have another go.

Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
Claytons Left Boot replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Good find Halo. If anyone ever wondered what corporate bullsh!t looks like, just read that load of utter garbage. Bullsh!t of the highest order in its full glory. They forgot to mention that the applicant will have to have knowledge of power washers, as the stadium needs a good old clean from top to bottom. -

Great article. What we wouldn’t give for someone like Tom Wagner at the helm. -

Attendances in the mid 1980s were dire and weren’t much better in the late 70s, especially in the old First Division..Three weeks after the Grimsby game, I was a married man..😳 -
Pre Season 25-26

I did a walk at the nearby saltpans last year and must have driven a couple of hundred yards from the training complex without realising it. We also do a walk at the nearby Cabo Roig. The club mention Benidorm in the report but Benidorm is some 80 miles (or 128 kms) to the north. I know you’ll know that but I’ve mentioned it in case folk are thinking of staying in Benidorm. -

For all the ‘pea brains’ who are in denial about Rovers ever being taken over, Livingston have just announced Calvin Ford becoming the majority shareholder there. He is the great-great grandson of Henry Ford and said to be worth ‘billions.’

FA Cup Final today, at the ridiculous time of 4.30pm. Gone are the days when the English and Scottish cup finals were on the same day and at the traditional time of 3pm. One used to be on BBC, the other on ITV (or vice versa) and I used to flick from one to the other for scores, updates etc. It’s difficult to want Palace to win anything, any time, for obvious reasons but I always opt for the underdog. I detest Citeh with both their oil money and obnoxious, Neanderthal support and with the added Wharton factor, it’s Palace for me. -

Yes, I probably worded it incorrectly but was meaning from a Director of Football perspective, something you alluded to in your final paragraph. -

You could write what those two know about football on the back of a postage stamp. Neither of them are fit for purpose and genuine Rovers fans, who know the game, would be delighted to hear that both of them had been sacked. -
After a couple of nervy moments, it tuned into a routine win for the Celts yesterday, in balmy Glasgow, 3-1 against Hibernian. Nice to see 17 year old midfielder, Sean McArdle get his league debut, coming on late in the game. Will be good to have Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership next season, first time for fifteen years and let’s hope Partick Thistle do the business against Livingston (and their horrendous artificial pitch) in the play-offs.

First match attended
Claytons Left Boot replied to wilsdenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They certainly were. I was sat up in the Nuttall Street stand because I’d broken my leg playing football and I had a full pot on. It was May 15th 1982. The Chelsea lads, all dressed in ‘casuals’ posh gear, walked right past me and I can remember telling a few of them to mind my leg. They were really polite and seemed nothing like football hooligans. They then proceeded to shin down over the front row and dropped onto the terracing in the Blackburn End enclosure and, from there, into the Blackburn End. How the Blackburn End ran away from that lot, I’ll never know. -

There must have been well over 10k Rovers fans in the 13k gate. We had both ends and both sides from memory. We could have travelled together for that one Tony. I was definitely on the special train with EiT and the rest. As you say, we were all on the pitch carrying Meccy off. Everything was top notch in those days. Rovers were on the up and the town was a great place for a night out. Loads of pubs and clubs, most lads followed the Rovers and everyone seemed to be pulling in the same direction. Cut one of us and we all bled type of thing. -
It’ll never end Gav, never. The majority of fans are decent enough but there are idiots on both sides of the divide and the idiots up there are off the scale. We talk about this sometimes on the way up on the bus. Some areas of Scotland are as bad as, if not worse than, Ulster. I hope away fans aren’t banned again, as it’s been good to see half decent followings this season at both grounds. PS. I can do the Tina Turner doll for you at half price £4.99 😬🤣

I’m not sure the footballing authorities in Scotland will particularly want to do anything about that tifo but they will no doubt have to in view complaints etc coming their way. Another glass bottle on the pitch as well. At least it wasn’t multiple pieces of broken glass, like at the Ibrox game when Joe Hart was in goals. Jagged glass that could have cut and injured Rangers players as well as Celtic’s. Were Rangers ever punished for that? It’s always good value watching Chris Sutton get the better of Kris Boyd, especially as he doesn’t hide his wry smile. I’ll be up on Saturday for the Hibs game. Probably been up more times this season than ever before. 41st season and counting. 🙂

News From Other Leagues
Claytons Left Boot replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Huddersfield with just under 21k on today for a ‘dead rubber’ as they’re well outside the play offs. Similar sized town to us with a large Asian population and probably a similar sized catchment area. A delegation of 5 year olds from Blackburn could nip over the county boundary and have a meeting with Huddersfield’s board and then put in place a similar scheme at Rovers to bolster both attendances and season ticket sales. Come to think of it, those 5 year olds could no doubt replace Waggott, Pasha and Gestede and do a much better job. Instead of paying them up to a combined £1m per year for their services, they’d be happy with a bag of Haribos each. -
Season Tickets 2025/26
Claytons Left Boot replied to JHRover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No, we have billionaire owners allegedly in charge and who could have easily afforded to send £20m over prior to the January transfer window. In the 1970s, we were a relatively well run club with local businessmen at the helm. Whilst they did their best, they operated on a shoestring budget and, at times, we could barely pay the milk bill. This is not the 1970s. Our billionaire owners are not interested. Had they been, with relatively little investment on their part, they could be well on their way to recouping a large part of their own money that they have already wasted. They need to f*** right off.- 1085 replies

Premier League
Claytons Left Boot replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Good that. We were up there in the top few clubs in the country, from the start of the football league until just a few years ago. During that time, two things changed things. - The abolition of the maximum wage in 1961 - The arrival of Venky’s in 2010 Thanks to Jack’s vision and a lot of hard work, we managed buck the trend of most clubs that were of a similar size and standing to ourselves, following the 1961 change in wage structures. It seems like it will be a lot harder to rid ourselves of the cancer of Venky’s. -

Yes, I know. I’ve already agreed that fact with the first poster that said the same. Celtic probably won’t want to sell him, as he’s become a decent squad member. Just trying to point out the amount Celtic would want to receive for him, in the hypothetical situation of him becoming available. It’s a non starter.
