World Cup 2018

Wow, great strike and what support from Argentina. The noise when that went in was akin to that at the old Hampden when either Scotland or Celtic used to notch. -

Umtiti, the French defender, currently on for ‘baby of the match’ trophy. The Argie’s hand just caught him in the face and he went down like he had been shot, face etched in pain. A great little clip on social media a few days ago highlighting the difference between men’s and women’s football. Ronaldo, challenged by someone (who didn’t actually make contact) went down, holding his face, rolled over a couple of times, in apparent agony. The next bit of the clip showed a lass, blood pouring from her nose, obviously having been properly whacked in the face. She just carried on running and spat out a load of blood. These ‘men’ should be hauled before the cameras after the game and made to explain their actions. -

Ah, I remember this one from my eleven plus. Now, let’s think, what did I put? Hmm, left! No...right! Damn, I can’t remember. I’ll come back to it. -

Just how can the modern day footballer be refereed. Watching the Portugal v Iran game and the lot of them are like petulant school boys. I love football but, as one who has had a keen interest in Rugby League for twent five years, cannot believe how every single decision is argued by the players and nothing is done about it. Any one who surrounds the ref, mouthing off, should be booked. End of. Turning to VAR, what a farce. No way was that a penalty. Again, it should be like Rugby League. Let the ref referee the game. Give him the responsibility but, if he is not sure about some major decision, let him ask the VAR team for a second look. The football way is going into it way too deeply and taking the responsibility away from him. He may as well not be on the pitch. I won’t go into the blatant cheating, rolling about, feigning injury and so on. Effing *ankers. -

German lad just got a proper (accidental) kick in the mush. Blood streaming out of his nose. Full credit to him as he just lay there waiting for treatment. 99.99 % of footballers would have rolled over several times, faces etched in agony. -

Germany just got away with what should have been a clear penalty to Sweden. Not even looked at via VAR. A blatant shove in the back. -

Well done Fulham, glad they won. Grealish is a great player but at the same time a petulant, cheating little bar steward. In the clumsy challenge by the Fulham player who was sent off, Grealish milked it for all it was worth. Odoi didn’t particularly catch him anywhere, more just clattered into him but for some strange reason, Grealish was rolling about holding his right lower calf. Prat. -

READ ALL ABOUT IT, READ ALL ABOUT IT !!!! BRFCS EXCLUSIVE !!!! Chaddy and Stuart finally agree on something !!!! ♥️ (Sorry lads, just couldn’t pass that one up) -
Great stuff Stanley. I watched a fair few of their games during their rise through the lower leagues. Can’t be easy being sandwiched between Blackburn and Bonlah.

Wow. Not sure how they do it but Preston’s continued surge up the league is packing them in at Deepdale. Another bumper crowd of 11k witnesses their win against Bristol City. One giddy Nobber was heard to giggle, ‘the stadium was bursting at the seams!’ The rest of the Championship can only look on in envy. -

Around 12,900 home fans on Deepdale yesterday. They continue to pack ‘em in over in Preston. Magnificent support. -

I think it said on Sky Jim that ten thousand Leeds fans had been consulted and had opted for it. However, there are currently fifty thousand signatures on a petition to get rid of it as soon as possible. It’s hideous but as a club that I dislike as much as any, I think it suits them fine. -
I worked with his son in the 80s. He supported Burnley :-)

Any self respecting Darrener would welcome a split between Darwen and Darwen North. Bring it on! ?

Only eleven thousand odd Preston fans on Dumpdale this afternoon. I really wish they would let us into their secret of how they pack them in. -
I have one of a Goshawk (bird of prey) on my left calf and love it. Head and shoulders of the bird roughly three inches by five. Being a Rugby League fan, I have been used to seeing tattoos for years on League players, who generally adorned themselves with them before their football counterparts. I just like them. May just get another on my right calf, perhaps a head and shoulders profile of an owl. Not decided yet. My son doesn’t have any whilst my daughter has about six, very discreet as you wouldn’t guess if you saw her out and about.

Little Preston seem to be doing ok as well. Another win tonight. Their crowds this season have been pretty poor, between 10k and 12k when there are few away fans. I thought Rovers fans were fickle but that lot take some beating. -

Can't agree I'm afraid. Leeds has a population of 774k and if they get 30k on the odd occasion, the media ejaculate. Football, as far as their fans are concerned, only started in 1960 because, before that, no one had heard of them and they had won the square root of sod all. Sheffield Wednesday aren't too dissimilar. Forest won the European Cup twice in a very short period of time and they could be considered 'big' but other than a very good period of two decades, again haven't done too much for some considerable time. I'm not saying they are small, far from it, but certainly not in the league of Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, City etc. They're not big clubs, in my opinion, but they are housed in big cities. -

I think Stuart that we have a pedigree that puts us in the top 25 in the country at least. Can't just find the info but aren't we something like the 17th most successful English club of all time. All clubs have their ups and downs over the years. We're on a downer at present but we'll bounce back as and when Venky's leave. Folk think clubs like Forest, Wednesday, Sheffield United, Leeds (I ferkin hate them!) etc are big clubs. They aren't. They aren't small clubs by any means. They're just decent sized clubs that have the good fortune to be situated in large cities and, because of that, get decent crowds when they're doing well. Based on :- Founder members of Football League, Founder members of Premier League, Winners of 10 Majors, Years in European Competition, Size of Old Ewood, Size and Facilities of New Ewood, Facilities and Size of Brockhall, Record attendance 63k, Fan Base (albeit partly dormant/sleeping at present but will return).... ....we are at least in the top 25 -

See North End barely managed 11k in their home game v Reading last week. Beginning of season and all that. Some folk call Rovers fans fickle but that lot are something else. Still, only four 'majors' in their entire history, no notable games for decades, apart from their few play off non events, so I suppose the people from the town (I refuse to call it a city) with the lamb on its crest have become a bit bored with football. -

A great watch. British players everywhere and some meaty challenges going in. Today's Carlos Kickaballs would be crying like little girls and the refs would be stopping play every two minutes. Good to see the wingers getting round the back. None of this sterile, chess-like cr*p being played, you know, across the back, opponent facing you, turn round, back to the keeper, roll the ball out, opponent facing you, so back to the keeper, roll it out, down the left, across the back and repeat, repeat, repeat. Thank you Venky's.
