  1. We will soon have a bigger backroom staff than first team squad! Why does Lowe always survive any change to the set up? What does he know and does he prefer keeping his increasingly unnecessary job to signing a NDA?
  2. Or at least given the authority to make strategic decisions, in collaboration with a competent, industrious CEO.
  3. “Roll up, roll up, and see if our inadequate squad can grind out enough points to stay in the Championship. It’s better than watching paint dry, (but only just)”.
  4. “Yes, but we need Venkys and the club would cease to exist if they didn’t own us “🤮😡
  5. No matter who is behind the appointment there will likely be further disharmony, as the individuals battle for control. For any system to work and be conducive to success, everyone has to be singing from the same hymn sheet. The only semblance of harmony and stability since Venkys took over have been the periods without a DOF / whatever Shebby’s title was. All the role does at Rovers (under Venkys) is create more chaos and infighting.
  6. What his role is supposed to involve and what it will actually involve are two different things. From Day One, he will have Waggott briefing against him. Never going to work.
  7. You’ve just answered your own question 😉 The problem is, even if we do bring in a replacement, and even if he has pedigree, what chance has he got within this shoddy set up of charlatans? It’ll be another five minute wonder.
  8. I’m no “Nickoteen”, just making the point that what Nixon is saying essentially corroborates what Jackson has reported, ie nothing doing. Will Waggott want another pesky DOF disturbing his cosy little empire?
  9. Yes, but he's also unsure about the replacement, so evidently nothing is imminent.
  10. That's what we want to happen, Chaddy, but do you really believe that is what will actually happen? From what Jackson has said, we have no immediate plans to replace Broughton. It's more about him being out of Waggott's way and us muddling through.
  11. For me he was just another typical Venkys appointment, ie a blagger who could talk the talk, but woefully under qualified for the very difficult job at hand. As with anything else, it all comes down to.the owners. As much as I didn’t like or rate him, I thought the way the club announced his departure (Waggott’s work for sure) was disgusting.
  12. I think we’ll see him standing for parliament at the election 😉
  13. Agreed. I’m afraid the club is in the hands of disgusting people, and it’s sickening. It’s time for the fans groups to stop appeasing Waggott. They should simply tell him to do one.
  14. What is the latest regarding the DoF? Will it be Rudy Gestede? My understanding is that nobody is primed and lined up to jump straight into the role. For the time being, Rovers have John Eustace as head coach, Sean Kimberley who is Head of Recruitment and the existing team that was under Broughton. Chief Executive Steve Waggott already took a role in the negotiations with other clubs and players so he will continue to do so in the meantime. I wouldn't rule an appointment later down the line but there is nobody ready to jump straight in, as I understand. Gestede has been working with the club and is interested in a role on the sporting side, as he told The Lancashire Telegraph in an interview last year. However, he's not ready for the top job yet. Whether he could have a part in a wider structure, let's see ⬆️From Elliott Jackson’s Q & A He might be wrong about the delay in naming a replacement but , if he’s right, doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know about the slap dash haphazard way the club is run. You either want a DOF and take the role seriously, or you don’t.
  15. I’m not missing the point at all. Eustace will have had no effect on attendances, which were well and truly baked in for the season before he arrived. People read far too much into throwaway comments made when a journalist pokes a microphone in front of a manager. What will determine sales for next season is pricing and ambition in the transfer market. Im sure Eustace would love to sign some quality players and play more expansively, but we all know the powers that be will likely deny him (and any new director of football) that opportunity. You can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. It will probably be a case of Eustace having to wear his pragmatists hat again and aim for survival, (which is unacceptable). In that scenario I'd have more faith in him than JDT. That will lead to poor attendances again, but isn’t his fault. As for Broughton, I think Rich Sharpe’s piece was pretty accurate. He didn’t convince me at all and we can do better, but again the new guy’s hands will probably be tied.
  16. Typical of the poor communication we’ve become accustomed to. An information vacuum, which only invites speculation and conspiracy theories.
  17. Waggott is definitely part of the problem, for sure. Eustace has got nothing to do with it. It's fourteen years of poor ownership to blame, not a few months of having to grind out results to stay up. It was pretty grim, but still better than watching regular defeats under the previous head coach. Imagine what the attendances would've been had we got relegated. As for Broughton, you're not seriously suggesting his departure will have a negative impact on season ticket sales and attendances? People need something to believe in and that's pretty much impossible under Venkys.
  18. If we were a big enough fish I'm sure McGuire would be prepared to forgive us for what happened in January. The only chance we've got, (if we're still interested), is if we're the only dance at the disco.
  19. Is that you saying you’d be unhappy with this appointment, Chaddy? I’m generally not bothered about my posts getting likes, but am gutted no-one likes my new chant. I didn’t know who Txiki Begiristain was either, but googled “Manchester City Director of Football” 🙂
  20. 🎶🎵Rudy Gestede, Rudy Gestede, we wanted Txiki Begiristain, we got him instead 🎶🎵 It had crossed my mind they might do this, but I didn’t think we'd be that crazy. Seems I was wrong!
  21. Correct. We stayed up, end of conversation.
  22. Agreed, but I think we all knew it would be another five minute wonder before another goon was hired. All having a DOF under shambolic and chaotic owners achieves is to waste more money and create more chaos. Mr Nixon, (“Burn the witch”), says he thinks our target might be under contract elsewhere. I was beginning to wonder if the plan was to pretend Broughton was still in post until after the court case in August, and then appoint his replacement after the season has started. Wouldn’t put it past this Lot.
  23. Re - the first bit,, beat you to it with that theory, (see Page 31). Re - the second, you mean his Brother, Craig,
  24. Well given that Elliott Jackson is reporting that Broughton left at the end of last week, I'm wondering if they hope to announce his replacement at the same time as confirming his exit.
  25. “Boss John Eustace and Broughton have been aligned on the direction of Rovers but Broughton has been unable to find common ground with the club”. ⬆️From the BBC report on Friday. Might be incorrect, of course, but I found it interesting, even before today’s speculation re - Broughton and Eustace’s relationship.
