  1. Very, very, very easy to be cynical. The fact is this is a positive move which will undoubtedly save lives. Pompous? ... Maybe, but I dont care.
  2. And for balance... 'Rovers to offer cheap tickets for the Birmingham game'
  3. Re. Band Aid 20 - starts well but just gets lost trying to please everyone. (Won't stop me buying it though!)
  4. Le Chuck's match summary reflects my view on the game. A solid performance - win your home matches , draw your aways! Couple of surprising positives- Matt Jansen- looked back to his best and Mark Clattenburg- looks like a top ref (said it before the penalty), along with Peter Walton the standard of new refs appears encouraging!
  5. You're just not getting this are you. I wear Von Dutch, I have friends who wear Aquascutum this isn't the issue. Choose to attend a football match looking like you've just spent £300 in Originals wil I'm sorry to say associate you with the hoolies. It's your choice!
  6. Couldn't have put it better myself I have a friend who wore Burburry (including the cap) years ago. Then it became synonymous with the hoolies/chavs. Since recognising this connection he has stopped wearing the said attire. I put this down to good judgement. Anyone not making the same decision must be completely happy with being associated with the morons.
  7. I saw the same programme (the bloke was in his seventies!) and agree it is an illness which will not be cured by 2,3, 5 years in prison. These people will reoffend because it is a basic instinct that they find hard to control. I'm all for the chemical castration.
  8. Whilst at the match on Saturday, I heard that there was a lot of unsubstantiated nonsense posted on messageboards up and down the country. Only a rumour, I may be wrong
  9. Go on the TD, whats all this about then No , seems to have slipped my mind, sorry
  10. Scotty comes clean about receiving messageboard award.
  11. Top venue. Should be a top gig. I've deen Doves twice, and they were outstanding both times. Can't go to that gig as the girlfriend has paid for us to go to her office Xmas party
  12. Think of The Stone Roses, then remove any shred of originality or invention. Hey Presto! you are now imagining the sound of Kasabian. Sorry, but that is just a lazy view of what is one of the albums of the decade. Also one of the finest live acts I've seen in a long time ( and I've seen the lot!) Radaghast - i agree about RJD, in my opinion the finest Rainbow and Black Sabbath contained the poisoned dwarf's voice
  13. However, I have sent dozens of emails to people at the club and the ONLY people that have ever replied are Lynsey Talbot (On behalf of JW and Lyndsey has responded to every email, promptly and efficiently) and Lee. Only Barbara McGee has failed to answer a written letter (and failed to return phone calls and forward requested information). So go on, write now, right now ! PS It was intresting just how many sections of the Charter the club has managed to break in the last few years Presumably there will be a better chance of receiving a reply if the email is sent to whoever and copied to John Williams. Failing that copy it to the LET. They are up Rovers arse for obvious reasons but they also struggle to fill the paper every night. As for that twit John Newsham...... what a ferkin jobsworth he is! I had caue to bollock him a few years ago when at his insistance and for no goo reason the gates at the rear of the Riverside were kept closed at the end of games. It must have done some good cos it wasn't long before they were opened again. BTW Dunno if its true but somebody told me that when the ground was being re-developed Newsham (who lived locally) was one of the chief objectors and main organiser of the local residents opposition to the plans and that he was given the advertised job to shut him up and control him. Newsham was already on the staff before Ewood was redeveloped. He started as a perimeter steward on the Riverside close to the Darwen End and was promoted by the ex-copper who was the first Safety Manager. Tis true. The former being Mel Highmore
  14. You make some good points there Phil. The opposition to standing could be directly linked to the increased difficulty 'big brother' would have in monitoring people.
  15. Saw Kasabian at Warrington's Parr Hall on Tue - they will be massive!
  16. Colin! For such a reasoned, intelligent Guardian reading debator, how can you be so blinkered. We are arguing for the choice of weather to stand or sit. We don't want to be herded into the seated or terraced areas. We just want a choice of buying a ticket that either says standing area or seated area, nothing too complicated there. Finally to all the safety nanny's out there, I'll say again. Standing is no more dangerous than sitting if there are suitable controls in place i.e. limited tickets, anti surge barriers (on every row!) etc. Stand up if you want to ... er ... stand!
