I thought that at one stage-15 minutes to go?-they were just looking as though they could stretch us: Oster attacking down their left and was not picked up, someone else down their right was also not picked up. Nothing came of that either as neither player was picked out by the pass. Just after that the Rovers fans seemed to really pick up "Barmy Army" to a new level which they seemed to maintain for quite some time. Walking down from Higher Croft,I thought Burnley fans seemed to be making more noise but inside I thought the 2 ends were much more equal. One point the Burnley fans do not seem to have picked up on is our contribution to their financial cup run.An attendance of 50,000 and 1 game on TV must have produced the bulk of their £1,000,000 income from the cup.

[Archived] How About A Thread On Ryan Nelsen?

We don't all rate Todd. Nelsen looks a good defender. -
I think Burnley performed well, but if we had scored our 2nd earlier, all ifs and buts, we could have won more handsomely as they appeared on the point of cllapse after that.
-
Do you know them?
-
I guess if we could have played Duff, Shearer and Dunn we could have won by more.

Hyde appeared to score 2 goals-I thought he was a class player when he played for Watford in their 4-3 victory against us. We really were poor- too many players to mention.Savage got booked after 3 minutes for a disgraceful, unnecesary foul. Burnly, without creating too much, stuck to their game plan very well and should take a lot of credit out of the game-yes there were Rovers fans in the JW Upper applauding them when they came off.On the other hand, they looked as though they could have collapsed after the 2nd goal.I guess that brings us back to Emerton!

The other matter arising is what is happeneing about the coin throwing individual? If he is a Rovers fan, he must be given a long ban.
-
The first thing that struck me about the the front page of the LET which carried the story of the man who has been jailed was that he had already been banned from all football grounds. The second thing that struck me from the photo was-"he's wearing bloody Evisu jeans". And I aplogise for the language!

"He was brilliant-he ran Rangers' midfield"- a caller on 6-0-6

Last time we won a cup pre-Uncle Jack was 1987. And we haven't lost in an LDV final.

As someone else said in a recent post, Burnley are doing remarkably well given all the financial problems they have had and maybe having sold their best two players is producing Everton like success. I hope the arrogance shown by many Rovers supporters doesn't come home to roost.

[Archived] Amoruso Would Love Rangers Return

Will he be like Ferguson and only want to go to Rangers? -
He's gone back to one of the clubs in the top twenty-slightly below Celtic-if you saw the financial leagues today. He was never as good as the hype about him-but that was mainly from Souness who over paid for him. It's a shame we lost money on the fee and the wages for the 6 months he didn't play. It's a shame he didn't say thank you to us.

I'm sure Amoruso missed more than 1 game towards the end of last season. Some people might say his lack of professionalism in getting sent off against MU helped cost us 2 points. -

Amuroso's return to the team coincided with a change of tactics by Souness-he went more defensive. This is why Amo was not the disaster of earlier in the season. He didn't last till the end of the season as he got injured again. -

He encouraged fergie to come down here.Maybe Fergie can encourage him to go back there. -
But aren't there in the region of 500 fans banned from Turf Moor?

Simon Garner was a great servant to the club.He gave us some great goals, some great times and he was brilliant for us especially in the 80's. However, in my opinion, his 179 goals in 503 appearances in the old 2nd and 3rd Divisions is not a good enough return to merit a place in our team of greats.

And yet Johanson seemed to perform a lot better than Matteo has been performing.

People who have met him say he's a real gentleman. As a footballer, he's a disaster. -

What a tragedy it would be for such a fine footballer to return to Scotland. Now, where were we.........we must get our money back,we must not be held to ransom............etc. -

Their fans and players were a delight. Remember, that was our 3rd home win of the season. To improve the crowds, the team needs to play quality, winning football. -

What's his goal scoring record now? -
Remember, though, that Andy McEvoy played quite a lot of lot of games at wing back. I'd thought about Dobing but considered that his not winning much in the way of major competitions and not playing for England counted against him.

Longsider-keep up the good posts and don't be put off by people who slag you off. 1977 would have been much better if Fear had not missed the penalty:0-4!
