  1. Of course we can win games without Tugay. It's just that when he doesn't play, we don't have any guile in the team.
  2. Derbyshire has now returned to Ewood.
  3. When I read of Bolton's interest-which someone on the board had speculated about- I wondered if any move might turn out to be one of the failures, as the last 3 moves from us to them have turned out to be: Richards; the right back in the youth set up some years ago who later went to Blackpool and a rather nice left-footed player who I suspect has left the professional game. Or might he turn out to be the new Johnny Byrom?
  4. According to the LET today, the chairman and Jansen's representative will meet on Wednesday and according to the reporter, Jansen's wish to leave the club is likely to be granted.
  5. No, but maybe his not scoring against Burnley and missing other chances in other games suggests his level is not premiership level.
  6. Be careful-Vinjay might pick up on that.
  7. I'm sure she isn't.
  8. He also missed some chances against Burnley.
  9. Nevertheless, it's a generous offer.
  10. Kuqi works hard. Dickov moans hard. recently he has worked harder but he is not a hard worker. Bellamy is a class striker, not only for his ability to score but also the way he plays other people into the game. We still need another class striker if we are really to go places.
  11. It's a huge game. Not for the first time are we coming up against a team we should beat and anybody remembering the Newcastle and Everton debacles should be aware that things can go wrong. Agaginst Newcastle we showed no class and against Everton we missed chances and gave a poor goal away before Todd was correctly sent off. It should be different tonight, let us hope it is.
  12. Well done Mr Whelan, it's a very nice gesture. Similar to the one when the club, years ago, stopped giving ex-players free tickets and you invited them into your box.
  13. He has performed better since he's come under pressure from Bentley playing in his role. He doesn't drift out of position like Thomson. But his position, like left back, has a number of people who can play it, without anyone doing it totally effectively. I think there must be better players "out there" for both positions.
  14. Ewood-bound Mark Delaney scored for Villa today. 369059[/snapback] Hughes has denied in the LET that we are interested in him.
  15. "So, Savage has been playing crap, I dropped him and he had a good game, so now I will start praising him"
  16. It looks as though you might have written the review in the Daily Telegraph! My wife, who has never been a Doctor Who fan, really enjoyed the last series and was quite impressed by last night's episode. David Tennant was good in the excellent series " Blackpool ".
  17. I am not a Savage fan but I can imagine he will be motivated to get a winner's medal again-I think he won one at Leicester. There was also an interesting interview with him on Radio Lancs since the win at Boro in which he said being dropped him had done him a world of good and that they were finding him a better position within the team whereby he could play further forward and use his energy to better effect.
  18. In the LET a few days ago there was an article about Jansen's future at the Rovers. There were suggestions that Jansen might want to leave if he were not to be involved in the first team squad, but the article said he would not want to go out on loan after his previous experience at Coventry.
  19. My impression at the time was that Savage played them onside for their second goal as he appeared to be the deepest player back in our left back position. I will never be a Dickov fan but I thought he played well on Saturday. In retrospect, the other thing I remember about his performance was his lack of moaning-maybe there is a link here.
  20. What is worrying about the Academy is the style of football they play-which is I am told a hoofing of the ball to the strikers and cuts out any potential skilful play -as well as a total failure to produce any Premiership quality players since the Uunn era. I wonder if a big shake-up is called for.
  21. The story I heard was that Le Saux told the club at the beginning of the season he would be leaving the club later that season. He was going to get married and his bride did not want to live in the North West. I don't know if the story was true, but at the time I felt my source was reliable. It also meant I am more sympathetic to him than are some other supporters.
  22. I think Tugay plays his best football, and is most effective, when he plays further forward as he did towards the end of the season before last. I also think Mokoena is the best defensive midfielder we have-I don't know how the Georgian would fare in that role.
  23. Lee has said that 5000 Huddersfield fans attended. That means there were nearly 7000 Rovers fans. Although that might not seem many, I am sure there would have been a lot fewer if the tickets had been full price.
