According to the LET, who have been in touch with the premier League, the team finishing 6th would qualify for EUFA even if Boro win the cup as MU won the League Cup and they have already qualified for the Champion's League.

On Radio Lancs today Hughes was quoted as saying a scan had been done and it was not good news. A decision would have to be made as to whether an operation was necessary.

Remember everybody that the deal is only open till the end of April (Sunday). -
It struck me recently that there is a lot riding on where we end up; Hughes has had a good season up to now but I think it is very important we end up 6th. I think we have quite a poor squad and to end up 6th would be a good performance. It would also help generate extra funds because of the league position and would encourage a slightly better quality of player to the club. If we end up lower than that, it would be harder for Williams to justify allowing the same amount of funds for transfer fees, as we would not be in Europe and Hughes would not have proved his ability to get the best out of the players available to him. Hughes has done some good deals in bringing players to the club, but I would argue that at £3,000,000 we paid too much for Savage so there is no guarantee all his deals would be good. I also think that ending up below 6th would be quite disappointing on Hughes' CV. If he is ambitious, he will want to win things, and maybe move to a bigger club (if I were a Director of MU I would want to appoint a manager who had won a lot of leagues etc, with possibly a European title) even if he can't get the job he probably wants. So I think Hughes really needs to get us 6th position for his own reasons as well as for ours.

I think you're only allowed on this site if you moan. -
Arsenal only failed to equalise when Senderos put his free header over the bar. Todd was marking him!

I noticed that Douglas only made the bench on Saturday- he has been playing most games this season. -

I thought in the Liverpool match MGP did about 3 relly good crosses in the second half, including the one leading toDickov's amazing miss. -

I think that overall Pedersen had had a reasonably good 1st full season for us. Yes, he is underperforming at the moment and at times he has looked "tired" which might offer some explanation for his current performances. One of the problems Hughes has is there is very little competition for places. This is one of the few places where there is real competition and maybe that will eventually tease better performances from MGP. -
The rumour I heard at the Liverpool match was that Tugay is out for the season.

Were you successful and what did you come up with?

I read an article, probably in the Sunday Telegraph, about B C suggesting they have defensive problems because Cunningham defends too far away from his partner and it ends up with the partner having 2 players to mark when Cunnungham is cut out. On the bsis of their defensive frailities we should be able to score, but defensively we have not been great recently at stopping the other team from scoring. I fear a lot of nail biting to look forward to.

Sorry, it was not meant to be a criticism.

Even Scott's was not the first comment about the situation.

I found this an interesting read................ www.telegraph.co.uk/smith about the chairman's reaction to yesterday. I apologise if I haven't been able to do the link.

I really hope we do finish 6th, but at the moment 6 points seems a big call.

Liverpool have had 21 clean sheets this season and the only club who have conceded fewer are Chelsea. It sounds as though it will be tough to score.

Sunderland have done their bit now.

All this takes us back to 1966. After we signed Gilliver from Huddersfield and he turned out to be a crock, we got compensation from them, not in the form of cash but another player. I presume the football league ruled that we were to get some kind of "compensation". I think this is why much more onerous medicals have been the norm since. The question for me is, did we not do a full medical or did we sign him because the brand new manager wanted to bring him in and the hierarchy went along with it, despite knowing the (potential) problem. I guess we'll never know! -
