  1. Don't the sponsors have links with Scandinavia and wasn't there talk that we would be shown on tv over there?
  2. According to the LET< MH has held talks with Todd yesterday and has told him he wants him to fight for his place. In any event, Rovers have not received any offers for Todd since the week-end.
  3. The LET today says every pub in Blackburn is to receive a letter from Arab Radio and Television (AR TV) Network, one of the most popular providers of live football. Authorities believe the move will stop landlords from using a defence which has helped 14 out of 100 licensees prosecuted fight off legal action. Prosecutions rely on proving the landlord acted dishonestly-but the 14 got off because they were found to be unaware the practrice was illegal. Police say the letter would leave the landlord in no doubt it was illegal and therefore with " no excuse" for breaking the law. Officers arenow planning a crackdown on the companies which are selling subscriptions and leading landlords to belive it is legal. PC Andy Duxbury said, " The letter from AR TV clearly says they don't allow people to use the decoders in this country. So the landlords cannot say it is a grey area or that they did not know it was illegal any more. We will be monitring what happens in the town after this letter has gone out and seeing if any pibs are still showing games. We are also going to be targetting the suppliers of these cards. The AR TV card comes with warning saying it is illegal to be shown outside their country but we have heard of companies covering this up with a sticker which says "do not remove or your card will be voided"."
  4. Sorry to make this a double posting, but according to the LET, although Hughes was interested in Mido, the clubs could not agree a fee.
  5. I think this is a good idea as well. It has been done at some time in the past but when the matches have been close to each other in time.
  6. He got a good write-up in either the Daily Telegraph or the Sunday Telegraph. McCarthy said he had now paid back his transfer fee after scoring the winning goal in 2 matches. He also made a good chance for another player, who missed it.
  7. I have to say I quite like this as an idea, Hannah. I would suggest it should be offered in the first half of the season , with even the option of 2/3 monthly payments. This could then lead either to a half-season ticket, or even a slightly discounted half season ticket. As someone else suggested, the full season ticket holders must get the best treatment/discount, but it might be one way of getting more fans into the habit of attending matches.
  8. Another player who dropped down-2 divisions in his case-was Neil Danns who is now at Birmingham. It will be interesting to see how he does. Neither player looked as though they could cut it at Premier level.
  9. I'm not going to criticise anyone for not going to Ewood, but how about not going to Sheffield, saving that money and going to some other home game in the future as the club get the revenue from that match, whereas they get nothing from the Sheffield match.
  10. The paper I read today suggested the police are investigating because some people have made complaints which they have to follow up.
  11. What I mean is the club-BRFC-make and keep the profit on the DVD rather than having to share it with the shop.
  12. I think he was a full back who came through the youth system and didn't make it.
  13. Presumably it means the club keep all the profit on the DVD.
  14. The home game I was thinking of was one when he came on-I really have no idea which one. When you get to my age......
  15. Mourinho must be under pressure-I'm sure his boss wants to win both the European cup and the Premiership, both with a bit of style. And it's the first time he has really come under pressure since he's been here. He must get his team fired up to win, but also to win well. That way he would get back some of his pride from the loss last year.
  16. I was recently very kindly given the Harry Berry book featuring all the players for the first team since 1945. It's quite interesting to see where players have gone, and it mentions that some have died.
  17. I thought Aaron had 1 game last season when he came on in midfield and played really well-I was surprised he didn't play again. Is Hughes likely to bring on an untried youngster in the premiership? As I doubt it , I think putting them on the bench will have limited use.
  18. Those slagging off Savage miss the point. He's not meant to be a creative player. He's a workhorse who's job is to close down the opposition and break up their attacks, something he did well all game. Although it was a tad embarrassing to see him, with two minutes to go, on the half way line in acres of space and not have a clue what to do with the ball. OK Scotty so I can accept that Savage does that- we tend to see it as Savage playing tag: endlessly running round to no purpose. But we also think his ball control is poor, he can't pass,he can't head,he can't tackle, his dribbling skills are limited, and yet he seems to be given carte blanche to go anywhere on the pitch, often to the detriment of the team. I have a friend who is a Leicester fan who used to really rate Savage when he was there-and he did seem to do particularly well for them. I wonder if 3-5-2 is the best system for him, which gives him more flexilbilty to work to his strengths.Last night Reid played in the defensive midfield role. Very little came to the strikers in the 2nd half from central midfield, especially as the strikers tired and nobody arrived from centre midfield to help them. I just think that having Savage in the midfield is part of the problem, but not everybody agrees! May I jus point out that the quote above is from Scotty's excellent contribution.
  19. I have to say I agree with many of the points you made. It's either an age thing, or the advantage of seeing the match live.
  20. Gray was also poor defensively, but not much new there either. Many posters on here are Savage supporters. I think we paid too much for him and although many people enjoy the "pressing" role he brings to the midfield, I see very little positive he brings to us-can't pass, shoot and has no positional sense etc. Very little comes through the centre midfield for the strikers and I continue to see this as a problem, although Hughes seems to rate him. Bentley appeared to contribute very litttle from where I was sitting and Pedersen, for whatever reason, is nowhere near the form of 12 months ago. He was also very fortunate not to be sent off. Some people thought he was unfortunate to be booked initially-having caught their player arguably be accident, he appeared to deliberately catch Neville from behind in the 2nd half. Todd was very poor, as many people have said-he might now be 4th choice-but I really could not understand what was going through his mind when he did the "shoulder charge" that led to his 1st booking.
  21. Emerton had a good game, but I think it's early days to make him number 1 choice for right back.
