  1. No i understood but the other deals Ayala,Johnson ,Holtby werent really free transfers over the terms of their contracts and whatever signing on fees involved were expensive deals, Brererton is on a reported 4k a week here.Ayala ,Holtby and Johnson on 20+ at their previous clubs. No return on investment coming from that outlay and commitment unless promotion
  2. Yes but giving 2 and 3 year deals to the likes of Ayala,Johnson and Holtby and then the shorter term players , Rodwell and Downing, these fellas were on more money at their previous clubs than our highest earner, logically they would have been compensated with significant signing on fees.Johnson isnt walking away from a lucrative year at Derby to come here for a lot less.
  3. His agent was drawing up the contract and allegedly practically running the club at the time
  4. How do you know it was Balaji who wanted Brererton?Have you evidence for this? Not according to Mowbray when he was waxing lyrical about Brereton when the signing was done. Gallagher was on 20+ at Southampton, he took a reduction to sign on here so he will be on 17/18 a week and will have got a nice signing on bonus too
  5. We have a limited budget though.A manager will want to make his own team.Would you be happy if we spend in January and then no money available for the next guy? If pre contract signings are made it only points in one direction and thats Mowbray being here next season. We were linked with Hedges before Park even joined the club.
  6. Plus the league is incredibly weak this season. We are doing ok but a couple of defeats in a row would put us mid table/botton half. Mowbray isnt the man to take us foward but like you i worry this ok start in a a very weak division will lead to a new contract for Mowbray
  7. In the summer maybe but midway through the season with the current manager having only a few months left on his deal?If he is to be replaced then we should be keeping what money we have available for the next guy.
  8. Yes but they have just paid 16.6 million into the club for it.For it to be something underhand i presume the owners would be making a significant profit on that 16.6 million if they were to sell it on?
  9. No it isnt the owners could have sold it externally at any time. They own the club and all its assets. At the time it was done the club needed that money for ffp reasons. If the owners sell the land on how much are they likely to get for it?I presume with your theory it will be a lot more than the 16.6 million they have already paid for it? Whats changed from last year when they pulled out of building housing on it due to the locals opposing it?Is it likely housing will be built on that land? If you can give an answer to these questions then maybe il start believing these nonsencical theories.
  10. There is absolutely no evidence to support the thought the owners are planning on putting us into admin or selling the club If any of that was a remote possibility at this time then they wouldnt be trying to work around ffp by selling the STC.They would have taken the points deduction and the transfer embargo which would have given them an excuse if they had no plans to spend in the transfer market
  11. They own the club and all the assets that come with it so at ANY point they could have sold the STC
  12. Mowbray is on record saying Pickering is number 1 left back.It will be fitness/illness related
  13. Pickering must not be fit enough. Its the only logical reason for him not being involved
  14. He has a 12 month option, like all the others had
  15. Sharpe says the club have confirmed it to him Presumably the reason it hasnt been triggered is the club have offered him a new contract and are hoping he will sign it
  16. He cant go for free this summer the club have a years option
  17. A few weeks before that conversation with Paul Mani a poster on here was saying that Waggot was around saying that Lenihen was close but Rothwell and Nyambe are proving difficult. It was the matchday prior to Poveda being brought in.
  18. You used the word boring, you have pulled chaddy up a load of times when he has referred to Houghton and Mcarthy as boring.
  19. Aint you saying on another thread it doesnt matter what way a manager sets his team up its about the result. A world cup semi and Euro final would suggest results havent been bad
  20. Tan knows Mowbrays contract is ending and didnt want to pay compensation
  21. Lampard out of the running for the Norwich job
  22. They have a load of midfield players and he is likely to have a much bigger budget at Villa.Cant see Gerrard taking Rothwell
  23. I agree we have made those losses but apparantley its a massive assumption to think FFP could be an issue
  24. Guess he must have been in london for talks then and not for commentary work
  25. According to roversfan ffp isnt an issue as the owners havent put in the max allowed over this cycle and they dont have to put in 20 million a year to cover our losses. If its ffp related like you and i both believe then we wont be able to make significant signings in January anyway
