  1. How do you know this?Could it not be that Reach decided to go to West Brom instead of us?Not seen anything anywhere were it was said the Venkys said no to the deal? Also if we can't make any signings at all why did the owners allow a new head of recruitment to come in? And on Carter yes he did well at Burton but that was in league one Chaddy.I think he is a good prospect but last time he played Championship he clearly wasn't ready.Id like to see him get opportunities but wouldnt want to go into the season with Lenihen, Ayala, Carter and Magloire as our only options until Wharton is fit.
  2. Big if that though.Last season we were riddled with injuries
  3. Losing most weeks and potentially getting relegated won't be good for our youngsters either. It's not ideal, and it isn't the way I want things but if we can find loans that are better than what we have then they need adding . Carter although a good prospect and did well in league one last year he was totally out of his depth when given the chance last time. It's similar with the other young players we have, agreed they need chances but we need a few players in
  4. What about staying up?We have already lost our main creator Elliot and are likely to lose our only consistent goalscorer. If we could guarantee that everyone would stay fit then I can see us staying up as there are worse in the league. But if we have a season like last year with injuries we will end up having to use the youngsters who are nowhere near ready.
  5. The squad finished 15th last season with the highest assist maker in the league in Elliot and the 2nd top scorer who most likely won't be here either come 31st of August. Mowbray won't be here next year with any luck so I don't want him being given the money to bring in permanent players but the squad definitely needs adding too. Although I think we have some very good prospects, the loans Elliot and Harwood Bellis are a class above to what we have and I'm more concerned about staying in this league next year so we will be able to attract someone half decent rather than starting again in league one.Our youngsters will get chances to play next season regardless of who we bring in anyway
  6. I wouldn't give him money to make cash signings but feel with the way our players get injured every other week we could do with a few coming in on loan. I'm with you that he shouldn't be given the funds to bring in permanent players when fingers crossed he will not be here next season and the new man won't have to spend his time trying to find new homes for whatever ageing ,injury prone player Mowbray decides to hand a 3 year deal too
  7. So you are satisfied to go into the season with the squad we have?
  8. 2.5? All the reports I seen suggest it's 5.5?
  9. Clarkson from Liverpool is a target according to Sharpe and Cooke. Garner did well at Forest if they are keen on taking him back then I'd say they will be favourites. Whowever we bring in on loan let's just hope they are more like Elliot and Harwood Bellis than Trybull and Braintwaithe
  10. Then why agree to ridiculous contract extensions and transfer fees in the first place? I'm not taking away from the fact they are shit owners but they have been stung many many times when it comes to signing players. They know nothing about football, they trust the people they put in place. If you were the owner of a football club and the manager and CEO who you trust kept asking for player contract renewals( Mulgrew,Bennett, Smallwood etc)then after a month or two those players hardly play anymore then would you not be sceptical about agreeing to future demands? It isn't the owners who decides who gets a new contract, who we pay a transfer fee for they just sign it off. The biggest issue with the owners is they won't put competent people in place not because they are penny pinching and tight with finance because they have been far from tight with finance. Even in the early days..etuthu, best, Murphy, the Portuguese contingent, these were expensive deals for them and us and we got badly stung with them. Even in the summer and with the state around the ground I refuse to believe the owners wouldnt have signed off on the couple of grand it would have cost to give the surroundings at the ground a tidy.I find it far more plausible that it was the people on the ground trying to keep outgoings as minimal as possible to show themselves in a good light to the owners after the failures on the football pitch.I don't think the venky family have any idea that around the ground was full of weeds and is in need of general maintenance, they leave that sort of stuff to the people on the ground
  11. Well they should have invited offers for Armstrong last January then instead of deluding themselves we had a chance of promotion or that he was going to sign a new deal
  12. Derby are under a transfer embargo as are Reading. Derby will most likely go down due to it. I'm correct in thinking you want Mowbray out?So why do you want him to be given more money to get us even into more debt? Your last paragraph is correct it is mismanagement by both the people on the ground and Venkys. The club needs to become more self sustained, we can't keep running our wage bill at 180% to our turnover. One of the main reasons we are in this mess is because we have given ridiculous contracts to ageing or substandard players with little or no resale value so I don't see what value there is in giving Mowbray more money to spend when most likely the players he brings in will be ageing journeymen with no chance of them taking us to the next level but we will be left stuck with them for 2 or 3 years or end up paying them off.Paying off player's has cost us a scary amount since in the championship The club's you mentioned in your second to last paragraph, don't spend the money we do on transfers and don't have the massive wage bill either. If we were spending similar amounts to them and finishing in the same position as those clubs then you would be on here moaning that ,"our billionaire owners" don't spend enough
  13. Southampton will come back with another bid when Ings gets his move
  14. Can't see anything from Sharpe on that?Saw a tweet by Crooke saying he was writing a story on it
  15. You have said the same every year for 5 years . I think they are downscaling it but I do not see them putting us into administration but maybe it will be 5th time lucky for you
  16. Reach got a 3 year deal at West Brom Would have been happy to see him come in but not on a 3 year contract
  17. They sold Eze for big money last season
  18. Yeah we were allowed to bring in players on frees for a max 10k a week but not an unlimited amount of players.Just making the point there was no need for Bowyer to go to India to discuss budgets when we couldn't spend . We ain't under an embargo this time but if we don't want to enter one then cutbacks have to happen or we need good money being brought in by selling
  19. We were under an embargo when Koita and Delfouneso were brought in
  20. Won't be anyone decent if they are willing to wait 6 games and after the closure of the transfer window If any substance to this rumour
  21. Not saying they would spend it anyway but we wouldn't have been able to go out and make massive signings with ffp regulations. Like you other teams have spent considerably more but they have brought money into club by either selling players for profits and reinvesting part of the fee or have had parachute payments. Those clubs are bringing more money in through sponsership or bigger crowds. If the Venkys had given the same level of funding as they have done in the Mowbray era to say a Wilder or anyone competent we wouldnt be in the mess we are now
  22. Ayala might not have been bought for a fee but his signing on fee would have been significant probably more than what we paid for Pears and Kaminski. The loans wouldn't have been cheap either. The deals for Johnson ,Holtby and Downing in previous seasons wouldn't have been free we would have been giving them signing on fees to bring their wages down. I think our owners are useless, but it is the team on the ground, Mowbray and Waggott etc whose fault it is for the state of the squad. The owners obviously know nothing about football, they give a budget and let the people on the ground run it.It wasn't their decision to hand out multiple lucrative contracts to ageing and substandard players or spend multi million pound transfer fees on Brererton and Gallagher when the money should have been spent better. And on the embargo they trust the people on the ground to keep us within the rules. We are a tiny part of their business empire, they probably don't think about us from one month to the next The people on the ground have got us into this mess the owners have been signing the cheques and agreeing to nearly everything Mowbray asked for .Owners too thick and pig ignorant to make a change when it's clear the people on the ground ain't up to the job .
  23. Exactly he won't be on the same money as he was at Wednesday. He is the right age ,has over 300 appearances at this level and isn't a bad player. I dont think he is brilliant but with our budget are we likely to get any better ? Looks like no signings until the prem clubs let their kids out, lets hope they are of similar quality to Tosin, Elliot and Harwood Bellis who were 3 of our better players whilst here. It might not aid us long term in the development of some of our own young players who I think will get opportunitys regardless next season but the squad needs some quality and depth adding big time as short term it looks like a bottom half battle ,we need stay up and hopefully once his contract is up we will see some new faces in dugout and upstairs next season.
  24. Joe Rothwell age 26 111 apps(Championship) 7 goals ,8 assists Adam Reach age 28 306 app(Championship) 31 goals 42 assists. Reach got more assists and goals than Rothwell last season too
  25. I'd agree if the club didn't need money being brought in in the next 12 months to prevent us being sanctioned again. If we don't sell Armstrong and let him go on a free who are we selling for 10+ million next summer?
