  1. He is a decent player but another one who is riddled with injuries. We already have too many who spend a considerable amount of time on the treatment table
  2. Mid/lower placed championship sides in for him. He had had a poor 6 months at Bolton in the championship prior to joining us in on loan in league one and he wasn't anything special for us at the time either. Agreeing to 40% was too much and I'd be saying the same if we were fielding 30 million bids for him now
  3. Did we not sign Brereton not long after that ?And were bidding for Freeman and the lad at city? People weren't banging down the door for Armstrong at that time, the interest would have been minimal and from mid table /lower placed championship clubs
  4. Agreed, very rarely in England anyway do you see a player with a 40% sell on ,it's usually 20 max. Was stupid to agree such a clause, it wasnt like Newcastle were over run with bids for him at the time. He had had a poor 6 month spell in the championship with Bolton, and a decent (not brilliant) spell in league one for us
  5. Yeah nobody can say they haven't backed Mowbray, they have given him more than enough money,we should not be in the mess we are now. But once again instead of just removing the manager and the rest they go silent and will let us fester till he is out of contract
  6. Well we have spent decent money whilst Mowbray Has been here and only sold one first team player in that time, a player the manager didn't rate. The owners will spend money in the transfer market if ffp allows The club needs Money brought in.Be beyond stupid to just let our most valuable asset to run his contract down.Armstrong is the only player we currently have that would get a fee of 10 million +.
  7. I rate Armstrong so not having a go at him. But if we kept him on for the season can you really see him getting similar numbers as he did last season. No Elliot for a start and earlier in season when Holtby was playing well. Most of Armstrong's goals came when the team was creating chances,a lot of those 28 goals came when we were the dominant side, how many goals did he get when we won twice in 17? Of course we ain't gonna be able to loan in a player as good or worth as much as Armstrong, but the whole squad could be improved even if only a fraction of Armstrong's fee is reinvested. In my opinion it is beyond stupid not to sell him for a fee of 15 million.Under no circumstances should we be letting him leave on a free
  8. Not sure if mentioned, Nixon reporting that West Brom have an interest in Reach
  9. Are they having a laugh with a 15 million offer? He has one year left on his contract, and the fact Is he has been performing at a high level for only 18 months and not tested or proven in the Premier League. I know Ollie Watkins left the previous summer for 28 million but he was under contract for longer and he was and is a better all round player than Armstrong. Not over reacting to the result today as such but we seemed to be trying to play the same way as last season that had us finishing bottom half with a worse squad than last year . Armstrong will not score 28 goals or anything like those numbers if he is to stay with us this year, absolutely no chance imo, plus in my opinion a player in their last year intent on moving on just won't give the same effort and will most likely have a move sorted way before the current season ends. If true that we need to bring money in before we can sign players then we need to start being realistic with a fee for Armstrong. Not that this would happen in a million years but say clear 10 million for Armstrong then use some of that money to sack off Mowbray and the rest and bring in competent people.Even if we only have to use the loan market and just do enough to stay in this league until the rules allow more investment on the field,we can use the year to clean up some of the mess left behind. Either way if no new deal for Armstrong, then he has to be sold and nobody will go as high as 25 million for him players included in deals or not.
  10. Are you sure of this?As even going back as far as Mowbrays West Brom days he spoke of playing a possession game? And it was him repeatedly saying he wanted to change from knocking it long into Graham to a more possesion based game?
  11. No stream today according to lancs live
  12. Yates signed a new deal with Blackpool
  13. I don't agree in anyway that the fans are to blame for what's gone on. What I will say though If supporters want new signings and our current players to renew contracts then the money has to come from somewhere. Not digging you specifically out but on the pre season thread I noticed your dissapointment at the pricing for the Leeds friendly, amd although I agree it seems steep I can understand the club charging it with 4500 Leeds fans expected. If the tickets were cheaper I don't think it would generate as much income as it will priced at £15. Our wage bill is 140+% compared to our turnover and although I don't claim to be a ffp or finance expert I was of the understanding that the owners are putting in the max they are allowed under the current ffp rules,?Happy to be corrected if wrong. If correct then the club needs the supporters to play their part to avoid any sactions.Another transfer enbargo would be absolutely disastrous
  14. If we do get off to a bad start at least the fans displeasure will be heard, not that I think that would make a difference to Venkys when it comes to making a decision but if Mowbray is getting it from a large section of the crowd he might walk away .Only way I can see him leaving before season end .I am of the opinion he is delusional and thinks he is doing a good job. The scary thing Is looking at other social media he seems to retain a quite a bit of support amongst supporters
  15. Not talking about you and appreciate totally that many fans have stopped going due to the ownership. However Unsall is correct many fans stopped going because we lost our place in the top division. When we have played big clubs in the cups, United and Liverpool then the stadium was a sell out
  16. True but with what we likely have to spend we will be most likely be gambling anyway.I don't think we will be in the market for in demand players.Be either cast offs who failed at their current clubs or loans from premier league acadamies.
  17. Two of our better performers last season in Harwood Bellis and Elliott had hardly a senior game between them either. Granted it is not ideal and a bit of experience needs to be added but it needs to be the right quality too which is going to be difficult as it looks like we don't have a pot to piss in.Id rather see short term deals than giving out longer contracts to older players who are either coming to the end of their careers or injury prone... Ayala, Johnson etc The link is probably nonsense anyway
  18. Exactly, so reading that it's most likely complete bull that he has been offered to us as part of a deal. Is there actually an article stating he has been offered to us or are people working themselves up in to a frenzy because someone has guessed it's McQueen that has been offered? Just had a look and he is out of contract so it can't be him who has been offered.
  19. Nothing confirmed they have offered McQueen? I think it is complete bull considering their manager said it will be a struggle for him to play again. Hopefully not, be an awful shame to see Mowbray being given any of the Armstrong money to make permanent signings. The man should be gone and no way should he be getting more money to fritter away giving 2 or 3 year deals to players because they played well for him or against him a couple of times
  20. You said the same the last summer and summer before and they did invest in the team. The club haven't come out and said signings are dependent on an Armstrong sale.
  21. Is Howe actually that good? Getting to the Premier league with Bournemouth was a great achievement but he wasn't anything special with Burnley and spent millions at Bournemouth when in the Premier League. Quite a few jobs in the premier league have come up since and he is still without a job. I'd take him over Mowbray obviously but just not convinced he is as good as the media made out.He wouldn't come up north for the Rovers job anyway.
  22. Either way Butterworth hasn't played enough for you to be so sure he is not up to championship level.
  23. Mate he has been involved a couple of times. You say things with such certainty, you have no idea if he will be up to championship standard or not.He has not played enough to make a judgement. Last season you had the same confidence that Brererton (not saying he has been spectacular) would end up in league 2 or Conference and he ended up playing in the Copa America. All I'm saying is you can't be so certain. Agree a loan might be the best for him but until/if we sign players we can't be letting any forwards out
