  1. Yeah but we have a budget I'd rather 1 decent addition like a styles instead of 2 mediocre/poor signings. It's not an insult ,it's a fact the management see them daily and may feel 1 or 2 of them can play a part and don't need to bring in the numbers you or I feel we need as they have more insight and expertise than we do. We wouldn't be the only club in the country not buying a senior player for a certain position as the club feels a player is ready to step up and play senior football.
  2. Or the management who see them every day feel Garrett or Wharton can play a part. Sharpe is guessing what we are looking for there anyway.
  3. I'd presume the fact Brittain has spent the last two seasons in the Championship one extremely good season the other poor whilst the other 2 had never done it at this level
  4. Good stuff Glen.Much appreciated On this funding under special circumstances one wonders why this wasn't sought last January when we were sat second in the table a bit of money spent on 1 or 2 bits of quality and promotion could have been achievable
  5. Presume Davies with his wages and fee Could have been Cantwell?
  6. Deadline day should be before the season starts. Looking likely he will start the season with us but still think some team will panic and match the asking price, especially if he starts the season in goalscoring form. As deadline draws closer there will be someone in the Prem desperate for a forward and to a lot of those teams 15/20 million is nothing. I won't hold my breath but a club that is well run would have already agreed on a percentage of any sale that could be used for a replacement and clubs sounded out showing interest and discussing possible fee etc.Hopefully now Broughton here the club has a plan and the owners will let that plan be put into action Think it will have to be at least £15 million before Venkys will do a deal.If we are only recieving offers 10...11..12.. mill I don't think they will sell him
  7. Would be over the moon with this one.Joe who
  8. Styles would be an excellent addition. Can breeze past players like Rothwell but doesn't go hiding always looking for the ball and to be involved. Be dearer than £1 million now though after his international appearances.
  9. He is but Kompany and Burnley would have given assurances to City over Bellis already and along with the fact they have a bid in for another centre half doesn't suggest they are targeting Van Hecke
  10. Burnley have agreed a £2.5 million fee for a centre half from Metz today. They have already signed Belli's(who they will have given assurances over playing time) and have brought in another player from city too on a permanent who can play RB or Centre half
  11. I know it's only Nixon so take it with a pinch of salt but he reckons the majority of our money will go on centre half and the centre halves we apparently been chasing back that up,if it was correct that we were in for Davies and Anel. The way things should be done building from the back.
  12. They play with 3 at the back. But they also have Duffy(I rate Van Hecke better than him) who Potter gave quite a few minutes too last season and they haven't moved him on.Veltman was also played as part of the 3 at the back left season so if they sign another then Van Hecke will have his work cut out to get in. If I was Potter I'd be giving him an opportunity, was superb last season, got player of the year.He couldn't have done anymore to make an impression. But he is 22 and if chances are going to be at a minimum at Brighton he will probably push for a move himself. I reckon £3-£5 million will get him .They sold another 22 year old centre half to Napoli this summer for £4.2 million who had loan spells
  13. You are probably right that they will have some sort of option on his contract as protection. Apparently Brighton had a bid in for Bassey at Rangers but he decided on Ajax .If they are going to buy another centre half then I don't think they will keep him around as Webber and Dunk are 2 guaranteed starters and Van Hecke strikes me as someone who will want to be playing week in week out. If he is being let out on loan and it's another championship loan I definitely think we would be in with a shout of getting him here. His low wages means we can't be blown out the water by another club and his demeanor and things he said suggested he really enjoyed his time here last season.
  14. He only has a year left on his deal though. If Brighton don't plan on using him this season then surely he will be sold.He was immense for us last season but at the moment I wouldn't expect his next move to be a premier league club so I wouldn't totally rule it out if we were prepared to pay the fee for him ,according to reports he is only on 4k a week
  15. If a midfield 2 Buckley will be playing there.I don't see him being played as advanced like TM did last season going forward
  16. For what it's worth Nixon (who did break the Brittain story) reckons we do have money to spend and is saying we want 2 centre halves and thinks it will be 3 at the back with wingbacks as the system going forward
  17. Welcome Callum. Good signing On to the next one
  18. If he was only offered 4 or 5 k per week that is ridiculous tbh.He was a first team regular in the championship playing most weeks whilst guys who rode the bench or in some cases Davenport not even making the match day squad earning 10k per week granted he has now left but after Nyambe's service he would deserve better than that I don't rate him as highly as some others do but paying your first choice RB that sort of money it's no wonder his agent ceased talks
  19. None of them deemed good enough by TM.Even the previous season when we had dead rubbers he didn't have a look at any of the young players.A different manager may see things differently. We need signings in but we do have 2 or 3 young lads that could make an impact this season
  20. It's irrelevant to me ok.If it isn't to you that's fine but it is to me. The post I quoted was more or less saying no reason to be excited about the signing because he got relegated last season.A comment I don't agree with
  21. And the season before he played a regular part in getting them into the top 6. Lenihen and Nyambe got relegated when here. It's irrelevant when rating the signing. The tone of the post I replied too was ..."why are people getting excited over signing a player who has just been relegated ".A relegation doesn't make him a bad player, good players do play in sides that get relegated.
  22. Deal expected to be done.1.5 million reportedly.Barnsley media expect the deal to happen.Sharpe said earlier that a medical had been scheduled
  23. And the season before he played a big role when they finished top 6. Him being relegated as a Barnsley player is irrelevant he is a good player
  24. Sharpe saying in his telegraph piece that a medical has been scheduled for Brittain
