How is Brittain a league one player? When was the last game he played at that level?

True but I don't see anyone offering Styles anything close to 20k per week ,Bowler maybe. And if there is a wage of at 20k+ per week for a centre half then someone decent could and should be found.

If true we were offering Davies 26k and Lenihen was offered 22k then surely a defender of decent calibre can be found for that sort of money. The likes of Styles and Bowler won't be on fortunes at their current clubs either

Yes but we did have a budget pre pandemic when we brought in Brererton and Gallagher and countless other players without selling a first teamers except Raya who we sold for an initial £3 million. Other clubs in the championship didn't make cut backs? So far this summer we have brought in Brittain for around a million and Smzodic with reports suggesting that deal could rise to 2.5.Its definitely more than a million as Fry said they had turned down bids of over a million for him. We also bid the money for Anel at least £3 million. You act like Venkys have never ever allowed money to be spent which is a load of waffle.They have spent on the team it's just always inconsistent

Centre back needs bringing in before Saturday can't be starting Phillips 3 games in a week especially after a hiding if we don't bring anyone in before Saturday JDT will be putting Pickering centre back and Edun in at left back we will get murdered if our midfield don't get some sort of hold on the game

Even though Pickering was poor I can kind of understand why he was left on the pitch as injury to one of the centre halves and nobody to put in there. But why Buckley was left on is beyond me?Very very poor surely Morton could have come on with Buckley clearly not at the races. Phillips isnt ready yet. We need players in and I sympathize with JDT over our failure to make the squad stronger but still have to question wether it was necessary 5 games into the season to be resting Hedges and Gallagher after a 2-1 win a game Gallagher scored in

If freshening up the attacking side I would have hoped Dack would have been given a start,he needs a start and are we going to have a better opportunity than this game in the next few weeks? Maybe JDT just doesn't fancy him.Dissapointed if that's the case a fit and firing Dack puts our attack up another level.

He had a decent league debut on Sunday but it was well marshalled by Ayala and he picked up Grant for the majority. Id argue both Jones and De Ligt bodies had grown out more than Phillips when they both made there debuts. Suppose we will see but in my opinion and that's all it is JDT will want a bit more experience and strength back there. Still see VDB and another coming in

JDT plan was never for Phillips to play a major role this season. I don't mind Phillips learning and making mistakes at another club whilst on loan but if we are serious about going for promotion then I don't want him having to start many matches for us this season

2 centre halves we want and centre back isn't really a position you rotate.Lets see but I don't believe he will play a big role this season

He is only getting minutes here due to injuries and our failure to bring in any players tho. When we do bring in a couple of Defenders and Carter Is fit the Phillips won't be seeing much first team football for us this season imo. Even with Carter out , Sam Barnes was preferred to him. Really don't think JDT expected to have to play him at this stage

Ideal situation imo is we sign a couple of Defenders, Phillips signs a new deal with us and he goes on loan to a league one club and if his performances merit it he becomes a fixture in our first team squad from next season

Whilst he is still a rover then if needed he plays of course. My initial post was if he does join Spurs then I don't want him back on loan this season. Barnes and Carter were ahead of him and he was only in the team the other day due to injuries. It's quite clear to me that JDT is playing Phillips out of necessity at the moment. 2 centre halves are being targeted.Phillips won't play a big role here this season even if he does stay here

When we had defenders fit the Phillips wasn't in the match day squad. Add that to the fact we are in the market for 2 centre halves that suggests to me the MANAGER doesn't feel Phillips is quite ready to play a pivotal role this season. Wouldnt you agree?
