  1. Davies is a better player than Lenihen. Lenihen last contract offer that he turned down was 22k per week.
  2. I still don't believe they are paying him that much. Liverpool ain't daft.He was on less than 20k at Preston. Why would Liverpool pay a player who was never going to play much 3x+ his wage? It's not like other clubs were offering 60k a week to a 25 year old CB who had never played above championship level. Iv seen other places suggest his wage is £30k per week which is far more likely
  3. Well he does have a point . Not many non parachute payment clubs have spent decent money since the pandemic. Similar with the loan players every club in this division uses loans.Like Forest promoted last season with 5 loans in their starting line up
  4. Is that true that he is on £60k a week? Very surprised if so.Why would they pay him that?No chance other clubs were offering him that sort of money surely. He would have been on 20k at max at Preston and I doubt they were even paying him that much
  5. He is better than anything we have at the back and Is one of the better defenders at this level. Only worry is he is left footed and so is Wharton
  6. They bought Brererton for close to £8 million and let his contract go down to a year. You protect your asset.Well could be argued he wasn't an asset at the time but still 2 season ago he was showing a bit more promiseYes he was poor when playing so it shouldn't have taken that big a rise to get the player interested in extending his deal for a couple of years For the second summer running we have been backed into a corner with our current most lucrative asset.
  7. Totally agree about FFP and I do actually think they would spend more on the playing side if FFP allowed. But even if they gave Tomosson unlimited funds we would probably still struggle to get deals over the line with the farce of a boardroom we have.Hopefully Broughton can help with this but again that will all depend on how many hoops he has to jump through to get permission to close a deal. I don't have a problem with how much money they have put in to the playing side and I genuinely believe last couple seasons been penny's in terms of transfer fees is largely down to Ffp. We couldn't have run a wage bill as big as we did with the income we have for years and not be sailing close to the wind with FFP. Sadly we are stuck because thus far hardly any effort has been put into driving income into the club, only alienating more of the few supporters we have left by making a season ticket unaffordable for many. They won't shell out for a proper CEO or nobody of any stature will come here as they won't give them the authority to make club decisions on their behalf. We should have some leeway this summer as I don't believe JDT would have come here after all those departures if he had to rely on loans and free transfers.Fingers crossed this is the beginning where we protect our younger assets with contracts, stop giving out silly contracts to the "men" in the dressing room ,start being a whole lot smarter when it comes to selling a player.
  8. They never sell players or get full market value for them though. Like letting Armstrong run his contract down to a year.Similar with Brererton. The 3 that have gone on a free this summer 250k outlay on Rothwell, they all could have been sold last summer for some profit. Turning down the 15 million bid from West Brom for Dack the January Darren Moore was in charge of them. Rhodes when he was here wanted out for a long time, bigger bids were turned down than what we got for him in the end. Mowbray was here 5 year...2 players of any value sold in that time. There was bound to have been other interest in some of our players, Lenihen to Sheffield United being one. They definitely don't look after their investments that's for sure.
  9. I have never once said that FFP is the ONLY thing stopping them. Iv also agreed with you more than once the lack of money being put toward stadium and pitch maintenance is a disgrace. But they have loosened the purse strings and spent decent enough money on the playing squad more than once. Up until the pandemic Mowbray was given plenty of backing for wages and transfers. That is fact. And never having to sell a player till Armstrong left ,4 years into his reign.(in discounting Raya as Mowbray was looking for another keeper before he even left and blamed him for our defensive frailties the previous season) I also don't think JDT would have signed up here without the guarantee of having some money to spend.Only an idiot or a desperado has been who is in the last chance saloon would take a job on who had lost 6 players from the starting 11 that finished 8th the previous season
  10. Based on the fact pre pandemic they were spending money on players I'd imagine. I doubt anyone is saying there would be a massive spend but more would have been spent. Our income is minimal. We ran our wage bill at 180% to turnover for years.I don't see how FFP couldn't be a concern and restricting us.
  11. It's not £10 million. It could reach £10 million but with add ons that if reached he would probably be worth a lot more than £10 million international caps etc. They paid £3 million for him
  12. I can understand people not going anymore due to the owners but could never agree with changing to another club to support. Used sicken me when I lived in London ,the amount of lads who grew up a stone throw away from a club but walking around with Manchester United shirts on
  13. Will you be publishing any minutes from your meeting with Waggott?
  14. I put the question to Sharpe on twitter yesterday and have had no response
  15. What choice do we have though? If Phillips leaves us is it really a stick we can beat the club with?Legally he couldn't sign a new contract, now he has come of age all the power rests with him. If he features next season and does well I don't see us taking a 6 figure compensation fee from whichever club he joins. Let it go to tribunal and point toward the fee Liverpool had to pay Fulham for Elliot.
  16. We most likely won't get Davies but I very much doubt Liverpool will be loaning him out. Another loan wouldnt make sense. They will want him off their books on a permanent deal.
  17. Ourselves and Sheffield United want him on loan and Anderlecht are interested on a permanent
  18. JDT isn't a yes man if they don't back him he will be off. Liking his demeanor and the things he has said.He is well aware of what we have lost from the side of last season and doesn't seem panicked that we haven't got anyone in yet. Didn't go the game today but nice to hear a few of the younger players did well
  19. I'd agree with your second paragraph and it is a worry ,I suppose they could be taking him away and playing him today to try up the compensation we would recieve by claiming he close to first team.Fingers crossed the deal has been done be sickening to lose him for a pittance. Although now he is 17 and the last contract took him too his 17th birthday?Wouldn't that mean he would be out of contract now?
  20. If he was on the verge of a move to Spurs then why play him today? Why take him to Portugal?
  21. Why would he be playing today if a move was agreed? Not sure Waggott can be blamed if it is the case as he couldn't sign a pro contract till 17
  22. Nothing is obvious.Nobody on here can predict what they what they are going to do. It's not like they have never opened up the purse strings
  23. Be we have fuck all else to argue about when we ain't being linked with anyone
