  1. If he is our main goalscorer and his goals keep us away from trouble this year then his signing will have been worth more than just a few million profit. 100% in agreement it was too much money for a single young player for a club in our position, however spending the transfer fee across the board on 3 or 4 players means wages and 2 or 3 year contracts for for 3 or 4 players rather than one Brererton isn't on big money, he didnt come with a wage that a more experienced player would want or what 3 or 4 players would have cost us
  2. I would disagree that he was a "class" striker his career before and after here suggests otherwise.( He was class for us agreed) but iv got my doubts he would have been performing at a similar level if we denied him a move to the Premier League A player is worth what someone is willing to pay and for Gestede it was 6 Millon. He had wanted out a while before he was eventually sold.We didn't sell him the minute he told the club he wanted out. If we were to look into it I'd wager players who have been denied moves when they made it clear they wanted out didn't play at the same standard as they had previous.(plus most players who get their moves when they tell clubs they want out) Many many pundit and professional in the game agree that it isn't helpful having an unhappy player in the dressing room ,only have to look at the talk when Kane wanted out in the summer.
  3. He was already sulking that we were taking our time selling him.We undersold Raya and Cairney agreed but imo we got a fair price for Gestede.Prior to coming here he had done nothing, we paid 200k ,got decent service from him and sold for a decent price imo. Keeping him was never going to work out.
  4. Brereton had hardly any senior goals before this season. Butterworth has looked dangerous, and looks a player that would provide a threat.
  5. Agree he shouldn't be false 9. Butterworth has looked dangerous and has gotten shots off when called upon this season.Khedra has also looked dangerous. We still have players capable of chipping in with goals even with Brererton and Gallagher out
  6. The same things were said when Dack got injured and then when Armstrong was sold. It only takes 1 goal to win a game. Maybe whoever replaces Brererton , Butterworth or Khedra they may provide a goal threat
  7. Agree with Chaddy, Buckley was our best player in the last game.He should not be dropped. And as for where are the goals coming from..you said the same when Dack got injured and the same when Armstrong was sold.Players step up
  8. Mate let's not pretend our fans are different to many others, like other clubs we have idiots who do stupid things. The Dwight Yorke incident being a prime example. If my posts have come across that I'm saying it's a large portion of the crowd who were on his back then apologies but when getting beat on a cold Tuesday evening and Brerertons number comes up the groans from the minority and the utter rubbish being spouted could be heard. Maybe I'm a sensitive soul or maybe I'm intelligent enough to separate the footballer from the man or should I say kid as he was only 19.The move came out of the blue for him ,leaving his mates in forest not long after being hailed as the next big thing at the club. His confidence was clearly shattered ,he was being mismanaged. He had played for Forest in the division, Warburton started him every week who was wanted by some on here to be our manager I am not arguing that he was poor but the manager did not help matters and SOME fans were on his back from day one due to the fee and that amount of money being spent on him On the Birmingham incident I don't know either way just find it odd that someone would say they saw it happen
  9. Most deals do have sell on clauses these days to be fair but like you say hopefully not as high as 40%
  10. It depends on the circumstances. If a loan player is undoubtedly better than our own and if that player being selected meant we had a better chance of putting points on the board then I would select the loan player. At the moment though I wouldn't be favouring any of the loan players over our own with the exception of maybe Khedra in place of Gallagher. Like Harwood Bellis and Elliot were top notch ,kids you could see instantly were comfortable at this level and they would contribute more than our own. Foolishly on deadline day last summer I believed we had put a squad together that could at the very least challenge for the top 6 throughout the season but in reality we were never in the mix, Douglas was awful as was Trybull.Trybull did nothing apart from taking minutes away from our own young players. I don't think every single under 23 will make it and was an advocate of us bringing in loans due to depth of the squad but are this crop of loans going to guarantee more points on the board than our own I don't think they are. I take your points on board but for me personally I have written this season off .I don't think we will go down due to the number of poor sides in the division and I don't think any chance of promotion either.Plus I want a clean sweep in the summer, a new management team and someone brought in to replace Waggott. Of course I want to see us win every week but in reality no matter if It is Khedra or Dolan ,Poveda or Butterworth, Clarkson or Buckley, we will win some and lose some. I think the likes of Buckley ,Dolan , Butterworth(would loan him out to play every week if we sign a forward in January),Carter , Wharton and Rankin Costello when he is fit should be seeing plenty of minutes this season. We need to know if they can take us forward IL give a shout out to Carter he looked completely out of his depth when he was first brought in, the loan to Burton worked wonders and if Costello can stay fit and they can find a position going forward I think he will be an asset My main argument to you is you seem to suggest everytime a Buckley or Dolan have a bad game they should be dropped the game after.I don't agree with that like ,if their form continues being poor then that's a different conversation but I think they have shown enough to not have to be dropped every single time there performance drops as that happens with nearly everyone in our squad
  11. The players im on about are first teamers now.Brererton won't be dropped And in my opinion Buckley shouldn't be dropped either, agreed he has to start stamping his authority on games more but for me he is worth persevering with because the talent is undoubtedly there. I think the fans would rather lose games with our own contracted players playing rather than lose them with loan players. I'm not against the loan market but I don't think the manager has used it well at all this summer.Poveda, Khedra and Dolan all similar types.Clarkson again seems highly rated at Liverpool but was he what we need?No too similar in stature and style to Buckley a more physical midfielder should have been targeted. The players we have brought in as yet do not look any better than our own. The players you mention are key players so no I wouldn't drop them.Still hopeful Lenihen will stick around, think the ship has sailed with the other two so if an acceptable offer comes in for either in January then I would look at it I 100% do not think we will go down this season so I would rather we planned long term rather than short term and if we are going to be even more reliant on the academy then I would be giving our young players more opportunities.
  12. IL let the fella who said it earlier on here that he seen it himself respond to this.
  13. We will not get relegated there are far worse teams than us in this division even when we ain't at full strength. So I take it you were in agreement with Mowbray tail end of last season playing the same faces that wouldn't even be here this year rather than giving some of the youngsters an extended spell in the side? Players need consistent spells in the side.Does absolutely nothing for the likes or Buckley or any other young player having one start in ten. Dolan and Buckley should have been starters last 8 or so games and others like Pike should have been given oppurtunitys . We clearly weren't going to have much of a budget this summer something the manager would have known. It will be mid table or top end bottom half again this year .
  14. IV never said it was the vast majority.Im countering " he never gets it at the ground" and some other poster said earlier he seem Brererton crying at the Birmingham match. Why would said poster make that up?He is saying what he has seen, yet others who didn't see it are saying he is lieing? I'm not doubting Brererton was poor, but he was highly rated within the game. when he was brought in here.People involved in the game felt he had great potential and in all fairness they would know a lot more than me, you or anyone on here with seeing him a lot more than us. He was poor but mismanaged also, if he was a project signing and the manager felt he wasn't up to it in the early days then he should have spoken to the supporters, explained that Brererton wasn't ready yet and Brererton should have been sent on loan. He was never getting any better getting the 15,10,5 minutes off the bench when the team was usually up against it and his confidence looked shattered. When the manager gave him an extended run he started to grow into that role left of a 3 Pre Chile and has looked a far better player for it
  15. His second appearance for rovers the guy behind me stood up before Brererton had even kicked a ball screaming obscenitys at him.Calling him useless etc when it was his second game ffs.Iv also heard/seen it at other games.Brererton did get it from day one largely due to the fee granted but the fee had nothing to do with Brererton. Ben Brererton will play in the Premier League or another top league if he moves abroad and id be willing to take bets he will do more than Jordan Rhodes did when he got his oppurtunity in the top division. My point with you is you never look how a player can develop.Young players need oppurtunitys to grow into the side and become more comfortable at this level. They will have poor games but it's not like we are challenging for promotion is it, in any of the previous seasons. The more Brererton played(starts) the improvement have come.Buckley has been a lot better this season now he is getting regular starts
  16. There are not many midfielders Rice's age that play such a pivotal role for their club and country. The lad will play for a top club I guarantee it. On Mount I'm on about the things you were saying when he first broke into the Chelsea team,it's easy to say now he is a talented player but at the time you were suggesting it was his relationship with Lampard that was getting him into the Chelsea side and at the time you were also critical of his inclusion in the England set up. On the 7 million, I'm on about Forest sticking to their 7 million valuation, they obviously felt he had the potential to push on,they needed books balancing after bringing in high cost foreign players. In all fairness the forest staff would know a lot more than you or I.Mick Rathbone for example said it was his opinion Brererton had the potential to be a £30 million pound player. And again you are telling me what I have or haven't heard at the ground.Iv told you this before I heard the moans ,groans and abuse thrown at Brererton with my own two ears. We had people on here claiming his career would end up in the lower leagues for Christ sake. His improvement since the covid break has been vast.Last season , certainly pre injury he was one of our better players and has now added goals to his game.
  17. He had made 56 appearances and done enough for Forest to hold out for a 7 million fee they were adamant at the time they would not be selling for anything less. He won young championship player of the year in his breakout season and had been linked with moves to Liverpool and Spurs.Played for England under age. Rewrite history if you want but there was a few on here who said they could see a player in him. Ain't you the guy who doesn't rate Declan Rice, a permanent fixture in the England side and a man coveted by big clubs. You also reckoned Mount was only making the Chelsea team because of Lampard. These are young players, they only get better by playing something you don't seem to understand
  18. The manager paid 7 million for him, your rightful critique of Brererton reflects badly on the management and club in itself .He did not get immediate starts.Im going off the stats .He was poor which I agreed in my post but off limited starts and 15,10,5 minutes. He had made 53 appearances for Forest in this division before coming here.
  19. He was poor in his cameos but he was mismanaged also. Mowbray paid the 7 million fee for him.He had made enough starts at Nottingham Forest for the manager and club willing to shell out 7 million to know what that were buying. 15,10,5 minutes was doing nothing for him only draining any bit of confidence the guy had left with the groans of the crowd etc. Regular gametime in a settled position has brought his game on.His involvement with Chile has taken his confidence to another level but his improvement started after the covid break .I think his movements off the ball and dragging players out of the box was underestimated in the way it aided Armstrong and we looked a much better side with Brereton in it although his form did dip after he got injured. He isn't an elegant looking footballer but he does look to frighten defenders a little in this division with his power and awkwardness,he wins us a load of frees and I like the fact he is always in the refs ear and he gives it back when he is getting it from the opposition.
  20. Mate he didn't start a lot of matches when he joined he was getting 15 minutes here and there 9 starts in total he made that season
  21. I agree he looked poor in the cameos more often than not but I'm also a great believer that a player needs a run of games and continuity to show what they can do. Brererton and Buckley look a lot better after longer spells in the side.I think Buckley would be further along if the manager could decide on a position for him and stick to it rather than it changing regularly. In his first couple of seasons you could argue Brererton's cameo didn't warrant an extended spell in the side, but we had paid 7 million for him and even when the season was all but over and just dead rubbers left to play Mowbray still didn't give him a run and continued to play players that weren't even going to be here the following season
  22. Isn't Brererton represented by the agency favoured by the Venkys whenever a management change is made? If so would it not work in his agents favour to get him signed to a new deal, you would imagine his agent would receive a percentage of any future transfer fee.The bigger the fee the more the agent will receive. A new contract should have been on the table when he started to show form early last season
  23. Being linked with Sevilla Not the most reliable source granted https://www.teamtalk.com/news/sevilla-ben-brereton-diaz-transfer-en-nesyri-arsenal-tottenham-exclusive
  24. It's Rothwell who sees himself as a central midfielder. He wants to play as an 8.When he first joined Mowbray brought it up In many an interview that Rothwell was on at him to be playing centre of the park. Even last season on occasions on the games on ifollow you could here Mowbray screaming at Rothwell to play further forward
  25. He doesn't do what is right for the club though Gav and many examples of this. Wasting money by giving out extensions to players who didn't play a minute during first covid lockdown. Last season he would have known the situation regarding the soon to be out of contract players yet instead of giving some our younger players valuable experience he kept playing the players who wouldn't be here next season to fix them up with other clubs Those are just two
