  1. Actually think the upturn in Buckley's form coincided with the arrival of Thomas. With Thomas playing there was an outlet ball alongside it allowing JRC to offer assistance coming into midfield from RB. Buckley seemed to benefit from this. Losing both Buckley and the seemingly loss of form from Thomas I feel has combined to cause a lot of Rovers problems since the semi

I would expect that, having already got a place in the play-offs, a guaranteed home tie in the second leg as well and now no chance of an automatic promotion, that Luton will be looking to not risk some of their first team players. I can't imagine that they want to risk Carlton Morris picking up an injury on Monday and putting him out of the play-offs. To a certain extent all their players will have that in the back of their minds on Monday. I can imagine that 5/6 of their squad who have been in and around the first team but primarily only making sub appearances would be a much better bet to play - they have something to prove and a desire to get into the team.

I'm not sure whether that helps us much - I have no idea who those players are, but I can't see them playing a full first team at least at kick-off

Or they don't playing the mighty blues over two legs in play offs and go for it against us and stops us now. Then they can rest their players on the last day of the season.

Right at the moment it happened that’s what I said. He pushed it towards goal with his hand and then ran with it taking out Pears in the process.

He didn’t handball it into the net but he did use his hand to control it. He saw an opportunity and took it.

Also I’ve seen goals disallowed for far less on the goalie.

I don’t want to see Brereton in a Rovers shirt again for that offside prior to it, combined with standing there doing absolute nothing for their corner.

Like many have said our defence of the corner Pears should have was shocking. No one took control either that be defenders or keeper. To me  Pears should have demanded a good header of the ball on the front post as all there previous corners came to that area. Once the ball comes in then in the six yard box the keeper should take control and come for the ball. If their keeper comes into contact with Pears in mid air the ref would blow for a foul and hopefully their keeper is injured.

Yes I know its handball but Im afraid its another case of Rovers being bullied. Until we learn to stand up for ourselves then we will always be nearly men.

Not only did we pass Swansea coaches at one the services with a bridge linking north to south there was a big scrap over the motorway

both my brothers were on a coach that stopped at the services and the majority went across to confront the jubilant Welsh

There was also Widnes Rugby League fans also in black n white going the other way at Hilton Park which were mistaken for Swansea fans. Im presuming they were on the way down to Wembley for the Challenge Cup Final.

  5. I too remember the 4-2 game at Ewood. He was one of the few centre forwards that gave Colin Hendry the run around.

I think Martin O'Neill when manager of Leicester took the edge of him. After he took over when a defender went near him he went down to win set pieces. He definitely never fulfilled his potential but was still a good forward who on his day was hard to handle.

Weak hands, should have saved it.  A good goalie saves that

And if the ball hadn't been lost in midfield, if the RB had closed down the break on the left, if the defence had got out and closed Doyle down quicker.

It was a good shot and yes possibly a better keeper would have saved it but lets not blame him for putting out the cup. It wasn't a mistake.

Kaminski was making mistakes regularly so he may have saved it but also he may have passed across his back line to a centre forward as well. Swings and roundabouts.

Is what he said particularly controversial? Kaminski is our best keeper as is proven over a period of time, he has kept us in numerous games this season and his form this season aside from that last few weeks prior to injury when he was carrying a knock has been excellent.

Pears is our second choice and it is a position that managers tend to revert back to their first choice as soon as he is fit again. rigger praised Pears and acknowledged his good form, I think it is a tough decision either way but to suggest putting in Kaminski hardly warrants the response you gave. If Kaminski does come back in, it means we can at least trust that should Kaminski be unavailable again, we have a reliable back up.

Kaminski was also badly out of form. Im afraid he should wait for his chance as Pears has done nothing to warrant dropping

Today has totally murdered me. It's made me think of the times that rovers have really brought me low.

Palace eighty nine George bloody Courtney, glad all over and going into second leg with a healthy lead. Just absolutely unreal

Sheffield Wednesday cup semi in ninety three. We'd just signed Anderson and I was hopeful of a trip to Wembley

Leicester at home in ninety two or was it ninety one. I can still remember Russell getting that lucky bounce off mimms, all these years later. We needed a win to get back on track but we lost again

The champions League campaign, the first portent that we were on the slide. Trelleborgs at home was a dead rubber. Great expectations come to nought

Thecup semi against Chelsea, Morten missing An easy header

Defeat against Burnley always hurts of course .

    think that's it

Oddly you mention the league cup semi at Wednesday but the quarter final replay at Sheff Utd in the same week sticks in my throat more than that. It hurts just as much as this weekend's episode.

I’m loving Travis at the moment, dribbling past players and bringing the ball forward rather than going backwards.

He’s starting to make more cute passes like the assist for Szmodics v QPR. You can see that most of the playing squad are improving under JDT’s management. Long may it continue!

Having the full backs come into midfield does allow the likes of Travis to venture forward rather hold in front of the back four but likewise when we get caught in midfield it does allow the opposition to counter down the flanks more easily.

I'm talking specifically about being in their central defensive position and the possibility of advancing to or beyond the half way line. We don't move teams around enough. Our sluggish and predictable passing at the back simply enables opponents to keep their shape.

Totally agree in what you saying and the example I gave was a case in point.

What I will say there were cases in the first half where Wharton got pulled into midfield and got turned. It left a huge gap in defence which a better side than Wigan would have exploited. Having defenders who can come forward is fine if you have midfielders or full backs that are quick enough mentally and physically who can get into a covering position. Im sorry but we havent got that so this maybe the reason they are being told not to leave their stations.

I sometimes wonder if there are restrictions on our centre backs. Yesterday (and for the umpteenth time this season) there were lots of opportunities for Wharton and Carter to advance and stride out with the ball as Wigan weren't too interested in pressing. But on nearly every occasion they opted for a safe sideways or backwards pass and we retained the ball but in areas of no threat at all to Wigan. I sit in the JWU so I have an elevated view and lots of people have been commenting on this. I don't know if it's as apparent from ground level.

Although Carter did appear on the overlap and crossed from the byline in the second half
