What side was the lineman on ? I’ve seen plenty of cock ups when play has been right in front of them by the touchline. You can find yourself too close to the action.

The linesman was on the Riverside and should have seen Wharton offside. Even if he thought Wharton hadn't touched it, he is interfering......but who cares?

The ref was spot on for the penalty that was never was. Hedges clearly plays the ball first then there is contact.

One correct decision, one incorrect we would still have won one-nil.

Bye Bye Mowbray, please never darken our doors again.

By the way, Corry Evans lasted longer than his occasional 70 minutes he used to put in with a Rovers shirt on.

Think it's more of a confidence dip as someone suggested. He played very well in the first couple of matches but faded badly afterwards (as most of the team).  Also think he put pressure on himself before the season to become the main man in the midfield and that looks to have had an adverse effect on him. He'll come good again, no doubt. Morton and Wharton has deservedly gone ahead in the queue, but the season is long and form will fluctuate.

Would also like to see Garrett get an opportunity esp with Travis out. He is competitive, but has all the composure and passing that Travis lacks in that role.

Confidence comes and go but it can be influenced by not playing in your best position.

You’d think he’d be ok playing deeper from a skill set point of view but in reality he’s struggled there.

He does not get time on the ball playing deep especially when teams employ a high press. Up until yesterday Rovers have deployed a midfield two against a three which usually allows two to hunt him down and maybe the three may help him although he is low on confidence

With 2 youngsters guaranteed to start, I’d say Buckley will get the nod on the last spot, purely on experience.
On the other hand I wouldn’t be disappointed if it was Garrett!
I just hope JDT doesn’t revert back to starting Szmodics.

Personally worried that Buckley struggles with the deep lying midfield. He is prone to lazy tackling hence his booking at Cardiff where he just stuck out a foot. A team playing a high press down not give him time on the ball. His best football is when he plays in the gap just behind the forwards.

We have seveeral players who can play in that position including Dack but if are to employ a deep lying midfielder Im struggling to think of one in the squad, although Ive not seen Garrett.

I'm not going to waste any more time on you. All the points have been made before. When have you ever had any criticism to make of the Club? Ever? Supporters aren't people who just suck up any old crap, they want their club to be the best it can be.

    That's positive not negative.

Anyway seems like you disagree with Broughton so square off that circle!

Be interesting to see how Broughton deals with Brereton who seems to me like he is running down his contract

I thought this, but I was watching some highlights on the Rovers twitter of the last time we played Rotherham (I think) and Dack looked exactly the same then. He gave up when he lost the ball, he made a token attempt to press and didn't make any runs in behind.

He's never chased down balls, he's never covered lots of ground in a game, he's never been especially quick. What he did then and still does now is be capable of playing a killer ball and have the unteachable ability of being in the right place at the right time.

To be honest I have to disagree in the fact one of my main complaints in the past was that he used to back track too far looking for the ball and would be in midfield or defence when midfield or defence were looking for an out ball

I just think the system is a load of garbage, i was hoping these bizarre formations with no strikers would have been out of the door with Mowbray.

Why can't we just get one of the strikers central and play off him a bit? We can still play out from the back if we must persist with that, but it's no coincidence that in the last 3 away games we haven't threatened at all bar a last minute missed penalty.

Diaz does seem to be at his best coming from the left to be fair, but why can't we get Dack playing off Gallagher/Hirst and see if he can recapture his old form? Hedges out on the right.

Simple reason is that neither Gallagher or Hirst can hold the ball like Danny Graham. Im presuming that Hirst would be the extra body in midfield because as others have said we are already over run in midfield with two in there.

Just to add that weeks ago Dack stated that he was in peak fitness, fully over the injuries and as fit as he'd ever been. He does look in better shape.

He may well lack match sharpness and the reason for that is he's not being started in top level games for I suspect non footballing reasons.

To start Szmodics ahead of Dack is proof of that.

Szmodics may well be a willing runner but that is about it as far as his skill set goes.

To be honest, to me Dack still does not physically fit enough. Ive said it before but before his injuries he looked unfit and he still does.

Still play him over Szmodics though

We once played Huddersfield at home at Christmas or new year - In the 80’s it was a shockingly bad game far worse than we have seen in recent times and is to r only time I have ever whizzed a scarf to the floor I was so disgusted having travelled half way across the world to watch it!🤬🤬🤬

Bobby Saxton's last game in charge

The worst Rovers games I had been to were the 5-0 loss to Coventry in the 1995/96 season, a dull 0-0 draw also against Coventry (I think we were in a yellow kit with CIS as the sponsor), and the godawful loss in the Charity Shield in 1995.

Wasn't Flowers sent off as a non-playing sub?

    Team I'd like to see....

                         Kaminski

             Hyam     Ayala    S Wharton

    Brittain     Travis     Buckley      Pickering

                             Dack

               Hedges              BBD

Just think Hedges links up and offers more of a goal threat than Gallagher up front, while Buckley will be more incisive than Morton. Harsh to drop Dolan but we need to give Dack a go in this formation.

Dolan and Gallagher to come on around 60 mins for Dack and Hedges, and we shift to 343.

I'd rest Gally for this but who has scored more since Hedges has been here Gally or Hedges. If Gally plays down the middle he will grab a goal if played wide he wont.

Jack used to over rule managers all the time, no one seemed to complain then as it was his money and he could do with it what he wanted. He purchased Kevin Davis without even discussing it with Roy and several others as well.

It happens all the time with owners and even more on the continent.

I think better examples were Geoff Thomas where Walker overuled Dalglish or Zidane where he over ruled Harford/ I was under the impression that Hodgson wanted Davies, but as an up and coming player and was not consulted on the deal and was as shocked as everyone else when we paid the fee we paid.

Whenever I am reminded of him one thing springs to mind. Penalties. It felt like he scored a penalty for us every game during that first season post relegation. I don't know how many he scored, but it felt like a lot. I liked him, good player and was one of very few positives in a dull season.

Disagree. Used to say that if ever a player should be used as a Specialist player in American Football then Carsley was it. If you could bring him on for penalties then take off him straight after then he would have been great. Other than that average at best.

Craig Skinner is one of those who came in at a similar time to Lenny Johnrose, Jason Wilcox, etc. Left as part of the Walker revolution I guess.

Can't remember what happened to him after he left Rovers

Went with Keith Hill to Plymouth when we signed Nicky Marker.

I don't really think he counts but Dwight yorke came with so much promise.  Souness tried to get that spark back he had with Cole but yorke was a lazy baxtard. He also fell out with Souness if I remember correctly

Listen to Michael Grey on Under the Cosh podcast tell the Dwight Yorke v SOuness training story.
