On reflection, it was a good result away at Newcastle. It's just frustrating to be the better side and yet lose a lead again through our own making.

It's worth remembering that Joselu and Kenedy alone moved for almost £12million between them in their last transfers. They may have made changes but they weren't putting all their youth side in.

Travis is proving.to be a diamond in midfield. I thought the whole team closed down better than we were doing last month. Same again in the replay and we have a cracking chance of going through to a next round which will feature Burnley, Bolton,  Stanley and maybe Preston in the draw as well as all the big guns.

Rovers keep the prices sensible for the replay.

Not many draws yesterday , could well be on box !!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the game today and very pleased with the performance.  Travis was outstanding, Evans was solid, as usual in midfield, and Graham worked like a Trojan in closing down and winning free-kicks when needed - Brereton should just watch and learn from him if he is ever going to have a hope of winning a starting slot.  Mulgrew's goal was a bit of quality and the second was a superb move and excellent finish from Dack.   I thought Bell had a better game today and offered a bit more defensively than he has of late and Armstrong offered more today than he has for some time.

Looking at the table I just don't see us getting dragged into a relegation battle the way things look.  Lambert is working his relegation magic at Ipswich who seem to have one foot in League One, Reading are in freefall whilst Bolton are looking in serious trouble both on and off the pitch.  Wigan have taken just one point from the last 18.  At the moment we have 8 wins, 8 defeats and 10 draws - very much mid-table form and a platform on which to build.

I find Wigans fall down the league funny but surprising , a complete non entity of club with a manager who is a  prick..

But one thing they could ala Burnley is not give goals away ....

Maybe both will be relegated , that would be a laugh but unlikely !!

Given the run of form we are in I believe that is our best result of the season. Plenty of positives today and although it wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination today isn't a day for too much criticism. Along with nearly every Rovers fan I thought Travis was excellent. He tackled, he intercepted, he ran forward, he tracked back and got several important blocks in. He was well supported by many others in a real team performance.

Well done to the players and staff today. It was good to walk away from a Rovers game with a sense of pride (and relief) instead of traipsing out feeling angry and frustrated.

The way Travis played today , made a mockery of the selection of Smallwood all season !!!

Indeed he did. You can take the boy out of Burnley.............................

He was nasty in the Hawthorns match and that should serve as a massive incentive for some of our players to beat West Brom today. And if somebody could smash him in the process that would be a bonus.

Didn't he get sent off over Xmas ??

The problem is that Dack makes a heck of a lot of goals for this team - including winning free kicks for Mulgrew to take.

We don’t have any alternative and we have no successful Plan B. That is down to recruit to an extent but also down to Mowbray’s distrust of the likes of Rothwell and Travis - until yesterday.

If that’s because we don’t have good enough centre backs, then don’t play two uber-defensive midfielders to cover it up, get new centre backs.

In the Summer I said that we needed to bring in players to go straight into the first XI. Mowbray decided to stick with his League One team and hope that our legendary team spirit would be enough. It hasn’t been. In January he has to change that - before it’s too late. For starters we need a brute of a CB with Championship experience. £7m would have bought a lot of those.

We need more physicality in midfield and up front !!!

I find it Incredible that Mowbray (a very capable defender at this level ) cannot see it !!

We are soft all over the pitch ..

    AGAIN

Been saying it for months. He must be kept on the pitch or we have nobody else who can win balls up top and get us playing in their half. Ball just ends up constantly in our half with everyone getting sucked deep. It happens time and time and time again.

Brereton looked like a lost schoolboy when he came on.

It wasn't Breretons fault that Raya had a brain storm ....
