v Sheffield Utd (a) - 23/2/22 - Match Preview

This is spot on. The whole thing is just painful. We don't deserve to be anywhere near promotion candidates. -

Loving your work! The beers are ready for the match. I'm hoping I will be, too...! -
v WBA (a) - Valentine’s Day 💙🤍
Devon Rover replied to rigger's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thanks very much, Sky and/or EFL, for giving me a huge, and quite perilous, Valentines Day dilemma: Whether to go with the previously-agreed plan of cooking a romantic dinner for my, currently injured, wife and watching a 'nice film' together, or to order a takeaway and watch the match in standard 'Rovers Losing on TV' sullen silence. Definitely a difficult decision to make, here... Chinese or Indian? -
Sorry if this has already been covered and I have missed it, but what might we most realistically read into the fact that Mowbray is now just a few months from the end of his contract, and an extension doesn't appear to have been agreed yet? 1. An extension has been agreed but not announced? 2. An extension is dependent on Rovers finish to the season? 3. Mowbray hasn't yet been offered (improved) terms he is happy with? 4. Mowbray wants to leave at the end of his contract? 5. Venky's have already decided to replace him at the end of the season? 6. Venky's haven't engaged in contract discussion, or shown any interest in the club? Whilst my view is option 2 is the most sensible, my money would have to be on option 6. But perhaps others know more about these, or other, options?

Oh, I had forgotten Giles was playing. Seems like he is brilliant everywhere except here? -

Van Hecke awful, there. At least we put in some fight second half. But we are SO short on quality. If only we had just had a transfer window to utilise. Really sad. And infuriating. -

Could we maybe try starting the next few with 10 men? May as well leave Buckley out and have the attitude of the last 10-15 mins. -

Great, now our fans costing us, too. -

Can't agree, mate. They've made us look like lower league opposition on several occasions. -

FFS Lenighan. Symbolic of the throwing away of the whole of this season. -

Bloody Rothwell. No need for that foul and yellow card, at all. Since the Bournemouth episode, it seems like he has totally lost focus - perhaps trying too hard. Really frustrated with him. -

So we are playing wing backs with two players who aren't wing backs, right? Great. Too many of ours are totally underperforming and/or not good enough. It is getting really hard to watch this, game in, game out - especially knowing there was such an opportunity here for promotion, and it's going to go begging. -
Any chance we could change the Thread title, now? Some people don't need their ego's further enlarged by seeing something in their name, even if it is appropriately critical! "Nicko's Thread" always seemed quite the ego trip that was enjoyed for much longer than it deserved.

v Swansea City (a) - 5/2/22

No, if someone scored 3 or 4 in a year then that clearly would be a very well honed skill and/or strategy. But for someone who probably hasn't scored one before (isn't based on any factual knowledge!), and hasn't scored one now, but might perhaps have done and might do sometime, perhaps, then I don't consider him unlucky not to have done. Just as Buckley wasn't unlucky to almost hit the target. Anyway, sorry, I'm just being mildly argumentative for no reason other than I'm so cross at that 'performance'! Have a nice evening. -

I'd take that right now! -

He would have been very very lucky to score direct from one. -

But should we be surprised? Buckley is a dreadful finisher and if all your other sitters fall to defenders who aren't used to great crosses coming in, then you're never likely to have a decent conversion rate. We look clueless. -

Or have Giles take them all rather than Khadra (or the ineffectual Rothwell) wasting everything. -

No guile or creativity in this team. Our only real threat has been crosses from Giles on the left. He has been our one bright spark. I'm totally downbeat about our season right now -

Not much of an impact on this one, for me. This is all on Mowbray and Rovers. -

The change has to bloody happen now. Hit them while they are reorganising and for 30 mins or so. If BBD doesn't have that in him then be shouldn't be there -

We are making one of the worst teams in the division look like they know what they are doing. It's so frustrating. -

v Swansea City (a) - 5/2/22
Devon Rover replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well that was horrible. Pro's: Giles promising and set pieces suddenly a threat, Hedges movement decent, Nyambe defensively, no-one sent off yet, Swansea are awful. Con's: Buckley, Rothwell, defending for the goal, lack of actual striker = no goals, Nyambe offensively, will probably have someone sent off soon, we look awful. -
v Luton Town (a) - 29/1/22

With that change we may have just convinced Luton they can win this.
