  1. Eventually…it’s been biting us on the bum for years
  2. I’ve been to one match since the ‘Kean Bolton debacle’ Sometimes I wonder if I still care but then I find my heart racing as we try to hold onto a lead or frantically refreshing to see if we’ve made a deadline day signing. Then the club makes a mess of things (I’m being polite) again and I wonder why I still care. I live in hope, but not expectation, that one day things will get better
  3. I think at this point the most surprising thing is that we’re still surprised when things like this happen. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me
  4. Only 10? - that will take some narrowing down. We’d be close to 10 if we only looked at managerial appointments
  5. I think a problem with modern managers is that they have their way of playing and expect the players at their disposal to adapt to this - I think this is the wrong way round because some players can do this but far more cannot. (Particularly the lower down the leagues you go) I think you need to work out the best system(s) for the players you have and then this can be evolved as and when you sign the players that fit your desired system/style
  6. That’s what happens when you wait 14 years to make your first contributions! (only been a reader until today)
  7. With our set up (coach/director of football) I don’t think we can use transfer windows to judge JDT - I think we have to judge him on performances and results on the pitch. When he said “judge me after x windows’ he probably, naively assumed that would be how long it would take for the club to provide him with the players he wants/needs. if my interpretation is correct, he may well need to add on many more windows to allow for the club’s incompetence ( although I doubt he’ll be willing to hang around that long)
  8. I’m not sure, but my thoughts are the club should be judged on every window. The intention should always to be stronger at the end than we were at the beginning. When did that last actually happen?
  9. Sounds like a reason not to resign - or at least to leave it until after you’ve done this!
  10. Is there a deadline by which you’d have to hand it in??
  11. Please do what Silvester should do rather than what he does do.
  12. Oh no, don’t get me wrong - I agree with you about the quality of the player and how much he could have improved us. I was just trying to suggest the incompetence isn’t related to whether or not someone would think he would be s good signing. That being said, clearly this failed transfer is going to have a much bigger impact on the rest of our season (than the Rochdale lad)
  13. To a point it doesn’t matter who the player was. It’s the sheer incompetence (and I include the statement in that) which is unacceptable (but unfortunately is not surprising)
  14. He’ll be fine, he’s already decided whose to blame (Silvester)
  15. I doubt they even know what they’ve done wrong. Even if they did, I doubt they will share it with us. Of course you’re right that they should do. (I was supposed to quote the post above mine!)
  16. The procedure is in black and white on the EFL website, if I can read it why can’t they?
  17. One last point on the statement - it includes ‘…the deadline for submission was late…’ The deadline wasn’t late - the deadline didn’t move at all…
  18. Maybe they should have asked there their legal advisors as to whether or not it was within their control. As to the ‘complex nature of the various agreements’ - would these not be the same as with the Brereton transfer?
  19. I hope that whoever wrote that isn’t in charge of the appeal! it’s almost as bad as ‘the dog ate my homework’
  20. For those surmising whether the club was unaware they needed to negotiate the players contract in relation to the permanent transfer - paragraph 47.3.1 of the regulations states that a copy of this contract must be submitted with the other requisite forms. The regulations also make very clear which forms are needed for each type of transfer and are publicly available on the EFL website. i can’t believe the club wouldn’t know what they had to do, it’s all there in black and white. Actually, given the people at the club, maybe I can believe it!!
  21. I’d omit the penultimate paragraph from your application if I was you or they’ll consider you to be overqualified!
  22. The forms have to be signed by the CEO or club secretary (paragraph 47.1 of the regulations) there is no rule on who has to submit them. that is entirely up to the management structure (ha!) to decide (and you’d hope to ensure takes place in a timely manner - again ha!)
  23. Inquiry complete, no further debate required…
  24. @JHRover - that’s what I was trying to say you’ve worded it much better!
  25. For those saying it’s not Waggot’s job, sure it is his job to ensure the competence of those who he entrusts with these tasks? I wonder what a Rovers performance review is like!
