The need to play Sam Gallagher whenever possible and him putting player development before promotion is a big issue with him imo. Putting Giles right so he can stick Gallagher left because he's marginally less useless there than on the right. In his own mind he'll be trying to add another string to Giles bow and get a pat on the back from Wolves. Then Buckley again as false 9 when he clearly isn't whilst he has a hole in his backside. It worked briefly months ago and hasn't really since but stubborn old Tone persists because in his mind he's developing BUckley. In truth he is ruining both and wasting their best attributes and disjointing the whole side but on it goes. A development coach by his own admission and not a promotion driven one.

v Coventry City (a) - 2/4/22

We are quite simply throwing games away in first halves and it was the same last season. Set up like oddjob has picked the team and play like strangers up top disjointed and all over the place. Second half come out and set up to have a go and make sensible subs. Just WTF is Mowbray on with this caper ? Because he's played his part in blowing the second half of the season wide apart with this nonsense. -

Never understood the narrative about him the injuries have just clouded over how not up to it he is. Seen him in the U23s and out of all our youth genuine prospects who've stepped up he is the most over rated by a long way and it isn't through lack of effort. -

Over the past 3 games we've rarely looked or set up like a team fighting for top 6 spots. We have though for 3 halves of 3 games looked like a side fighting to wrong tactical and individual errors and get back into a game. Now if we actually approached them as a bullish team looking to get as high up as we can and sod everybody else we might be a bit better off. See Forest and Huddersfield, no better than us but taking up the mantle when it matters. Still think we are capable of a good little winning run again that will see us right. Approaching games as they do though it'll never happen. Standard win, lose, draw 1.3 pts a game approach isn't enough Tony just like it wasn't enough to keep us up once over nor win a league. -

We blew that game with another tactical inept no show in the first half. Draw fair on the balance it was a game of two halves however cruel it was. Nothing more needs to be said. -
The main point of all this is when he worked half an hour from home at his boyhood club the same things happened. And he got sacked so distance has jack shit to do with it and his managerial methods have all to do with it.

Any sign of a Derby style mutiny at half time ? There fecking well should be. -
I agree they should have enough respect for him to tell him where he stands but i get a feeling he already knows. It really sounds like both parties need to sit round a table and air their differences and if there isn't an offer on the table there's a reason for it. Maybe they have concerns as well, they should have and maybe he wants a bigger better deal than they are prepared to offer. Possible even hes already made his mind up and is just riding out his time. Many scenarios and too easy just to fire it all at the ownership as like iv'e said a thousand times it's a collective thing. They are all in the melting pot but predictably it'll probably drag on all summer and the club/team fans will suffer whilst the egos clash upstairs. Shite state of affairs but giving him a bumper new deal right now might not be for the best either in the long term.
-
Can't blame him for having short break but he sounds anything but revitalized and ready to have a real go. His Coventry comments were odd as well, didn't have a budget, ended up with the youth team, it was 3.5 hrs from home so he thought he'd step aside and let someone else have a go. Well that was noble of him after no wins in 10 !

We've seen before how his narrative changes when things fall away, more they/them and less we/us. That isn't nitpicking it's just plain fact and of course he won't be the only one doing it but he has a certain way about him even the most in denial should be able to pick up on. Very crafty old bugger is our Tone hes been playing this game a long time but hes done it too many times here now to be able to hide it. Next up will be the honesty and integrity lines again whilst bemoaning how far Blackburn is from home. A leader he isn't but a man who can detach himself from it all he's an expert in that field.

The infamous spring collapse 1992

Newell at top level was always a hardworking but pretty run of the mill center forward back then i thought. Dropping down a league though his quality simply stood out like a beacon and he retained his workrate thankfully. How good would he be now leading that line. -

Whilst he hasn't had budgets to match a lot of clubs there are managers out there who would give their teeth for the backing, facilities and Academy Mowbray has had here. It shouldn't have taken 5 years to have one good tilt at the top 6. Look around at all the clubs in with a shout of it and who have been in previous seasons. Having a good go at it isn't all about budgets and never has been. -

That second half fight back v Derby should have been a Tranmere moment but we quickly reverted to recent type. Can't think why.... -
That's the problem by the looks of it - take as long as you want Tony then let us know. Or we'll let you know when and if we are offering you anything. Either way the club and fans are in the dark yet again and we'll probably end up cobbling a side together.
-
We all deserve to know where we stand and so does he. We never have though under this ownership its always been toe our line we do what we want when we want. We pay most of the bills so be grateful *insert Bury/Bolton/Sun'land etc * if you're a telerag or faceache poster.

The infamous spring collapse 1992
tomphil replied to BRFCS.com's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Certainly would but it's unlikely whereas back then we knew it was just a blip that would could be put right. We have these post Christmas depressing runs every season now despite league positions and low expectations. The team was toothless and out of ideas up top before Diaz got injured and they all knew Chile was on the horizon anyway. The much needed help didn't materialize and there didn't seem much desire to get it either. This is more akin to the Saxton era - aside from the small matter of billionaire owners of course and a manager with the means to sign players mid season. -

There are still no real parallels to be drawn between then and now. -
Doesn't really help the situation if they are trying to re-sign or line up players. I suspect though that this might be down to him and himself deciding if he wants to carry on rather than there being no hint of an offer. I've thought for two years now the fella needs a break from football, he knows it but can't put it down yet every mid season he looks a beaten man. Needs to put his own health first for a bit.

It'll be Dolan false 9, Gallagher wide one side and probably Giles the other - right seeing as Tony has decided this LWB is now a right wide fwd. He'll wait till we are 0-1 down then start throwing the big guns on. -

Exactly this, we've had an unexpected good first half of the season but something tells me even if we hadn't and this season mirrored last nowt would change. -

Another nearly 7 million shares allotted for covering the bills and what not. Mowbray is the luckiest manager in England to work for this lot. -

Free pass in a lot of minds because the glove fits as does the club going nowhere most of the time. In other minds he is genuinely a messiah because of the ownership issues. -

If he can't select a team tomorrow to be competitive for 95 mins he should step down or be sacked with immediate effect. I've maintained he should be allowed to see this season out regardless of what if anything is planned in summer. However the recent slide away is more than just a small young squad not being able to keep up the pace, it is a classic Mowbray death spiral. So for me tomorrow it's all about the attitude and how the game is approached. A manager of his vintage should know exactly what he's going to do and how he'll set up and how to motivate and instruct the team. Somehow i suspect he'll be caught in ten different minds as the game approaches and end up hands on head bawling out the usual players then throwing the towel in and hiding in the dug out. Coventry 2 Rovers 0 Prove me wrong boys.... -

He ain't daft if he was offered 20 million and told go for it he'd say no give it to me over 5 years because of FFP. In fact i suspect that was the cut of his jib after promotion,
