  1. TM has this new possession based style in mind but he's forcing it on players who are neither good enough nor confident enough to apply it effectively. That's why we get caught out dawdling or asleep time and again it just doesn't suit what he has and what he's signed. No manager in their right mind would sign the likes of 6'4" Gallagher to play wide right forward in this system. You need a right sided Armstrong to balance it out and either a competent target man to spearhead it or a competent shoe in for Dack when you play that way. I think one of the reasons behind the Tosin signing was because he wanted a ball playing center half as back up. Yet it was negated from the off by letting go the keeper best suited to playing it out from the back so straight away it's being muddled up again. I don't think it's wide of the mark to say some of the best bits of football since Kean relegated us have come under Mowbray. In terms of swift countering and passing and pressing yet he completely shies away from it as our main style. Prefering a regular mix and match set up to accommodate his players and a dull insipid core style. Some of the most frustrating unbalanced stuff in the last 8 years has also being regularly foisted upon us and the team also. It's absolutely infuriating to get themselves in such a good position only to follow it up with the manner of tactics and performances we've seen over the last 3 games. To not just have a go at it when there is absolutely nothing to lose really doesn't send out a good message.
  2. That's the main point for me as we know we aren't spectacular. We know we are missing the talisman but it's the approach to these games that gets the hackles up. In a good position nothing to lose just have a bloody go. Not this guy though not in his DNA unless his arse is on the line of course.
  3. 3 on the bounce. Perish the thought anyone might be angry.
  4. The thing is sell Dack and Armstrong and he's covered it for them. That'll strength his hand even more with them.
  5. To be honest despite the flop this season i still believe Gallagher and Brereton are both capable of better than they've shown. However under this manager i doubt they ever will because his handling and use of them has been abysmal. He's done great with Armstrong and Dack but the fact that one is quality and one actually has natural goal scoring ability really helped him on that level. If the owners don't want to write off most if not all of those investments - because that's the only reason they funded them - then they need a manager who has some nous how to use them.
  6. Well brought up point there just why is the goalkeeping coach instructing outfield players ? Why does Mowbray put so much stock in the players sorting things themselves and why are there so many so called seniors so influential ? Mulgrew, Bennett, Smallwood, Graham seem to run the show at times if you listen to some of his interviews. Just what do Mowbray and Venus do ? Too many cooks might explain the hotch potch tactics, too many having an input no wonder it all looks so confusing. I'm beginning to think uncle Tony is a very weak manager.
  7. In rebuilding the inside of the club it also means it's pretty much stitched up in the managers favour. Only India trumps his word and only India can trump him. Dangerous turf because it makes change without fallout very difficult. Football clubs in the main are and should always be structured in a way that allows big change within because the nature of the game makes it inevitable. Not here though they want a group of people running it like a franchise sponsored by them.
  8. Basically he's good at getting players in cheap for a league 1 job. If there was no pandemic and he got another budget that allowed room for a 5 million spend this summer i'm as sure as i can be he'd completely waste it again.
  9. He and the team have treated these games like pre season friendlies after the first sprightly game back. We were ONE point off the play offs for crying out loud. Absolutely nothing to lose just have a go at it but no he has to have them bumbling along like rabbits in headlights. Yes lost to a good side today and some fighting for points but we are supposed to be fighting for a top 6 spot. If you can't motivate your team in such a good position and just go for it or go down fighting then sorry but what's the point ? Those who remember when we were last similar to what we are now will recall that under Don Mackay this is when we stepped up to the plate. Didn't make it through the play offs because we weren't strong enough the best 11 picked itself. I can cast iron guarantee that he'd have had this lot getting into the play offs are at least die trying. I can also guarantee that this fella taking over a Mackay side in similar situation would end up with us 12th. This lot now exist just to look after each other. ENOUGH !
  10. What for 12 month extensions ? because that's the only reason he'd be calling them in. He must keep this group together it's so important they are all kept happy and in good wages. As we've seen recently !
  11. I'll be amazed if Mowbray doesn't look after this lad.
  12. Good old Arma this manager should only be allowed to sign forwards under 5'10"
  13. They've already done something they sanctioned 12 million signings for this manager. They've already been burnt, again, by those signings.
  14. Johnson is a waste of space just another he for easy street. Yet again the money wasted on non scoring right sided forwards stands out like a flaming beacon.
  15. Crowd are on his back though it would so much easier for some of these lads if the critical home crowd wasn't there....
  16. It was somebody else's name used to scaremonger last time TM was getting a bit of stick. Once Brown gets another gig it'll be back to that kids coach bloke who Singh tried to get in. Or Sreve Kean the return, it's Mowbray or No way for that poster.
  17. There needs to be a special branch of that squad dedicated to football investigations. Boxing has always been bad for that sort of thing but football will be 100 times worse.
  18. And every manager is a cloak and dagger off shore 35-1 shot appointment. After a host of other names have allegedly been in the frame. The they go for there is no need whatsoever for the secrecy. Other than maybe keeping the odds long .....
  19. The last 3 managers all have a Prem promotion on their CVs albeit a decade ago or near enough. There'd be another dour 35-1 shot for sure but there'd be no Phil Brown.
  20. The one's i'm on about get their generals in the dressing room and get their allies on side. Those types most of the players will run through brick walls for although some end up detesting them. As a fan who cares as long as you aren't turning in insipid performances all the time. Most of the players clearly play for Tony as they did Gaz hell some even did for King rat but do they run through brick walls for him ? Do they bust a gut every game in pursuit of a goal or target set by the manager and club ? Not that you'd notice. The team reflects the manager - honest triers who follow his instructions but all too often neither party shows the real desire to go that extra yard. When they don't there's a set of rehashable excuses and a casual shrug of the shoulders, a why do today what will wait till tomorrow attitude it strikes me as. Not enough urgency in simple terms.
  21. Was he ever really here for the long haul though ? Very much another of Balajis mates throwing up another cheap name who was on the dung pile but had a promotion on his CV. Verdict was we'll have a look at each other there's nothing to lose we get a few months cheap management again whilst those behind the scenes line up players to sell. He gets his name back in management, a few quid and ready made excuses as to why it didn't work out. That's the way these lot work it would have been exactly the same with Mowbray had we stayed up. He'd probably have got no money and till October the following season then got shunted out in favour of another low end gamble if we were floundering. Relegation put a different more desperate angle on it and promotion straight away gave him untouchable status pretty quickly.
