  1. No just no, totally spent force and an expensive one. Edit : retirement confirms this.
  2. No pal, it's very convenient to say that but there is nothing obvious about it until they start doing it talk is just that, talk. Let's see them use it as their core style before we judge there's a difference between that and changing about in games or week to week to suit the opposition, let's have OUR style and impose it on them for a change. By the way ever heard the phrase 'revert to type' ? let's see how long..........
  3. There's time ! Interesting when a lot say about getting someone in to replace Graham but it'll never happen like for like he has a specific role he's grown into over the last few seasons. Hardly any around like him now and it's not the way he played when he was younger he's tailored his game to suit the lack of legs a bit like a watered down version of Shearer in his later Newcastle days. Takes a good player to do that so almost impossible to replace straight off that's why a formation change is inevitable at some point I feel, regardless of selling Dack. Seems they are front loading with forwards to prepare for all this which isn't a bad way of thinking but opens it up to many experiments this season I reckon from an already tinker obsessed gaffer. Agghhhh ...?
  4. I just think they look at each area or even position with investment/return eyes to be honest. A lot of young players in defence who came through or cost peanuts = Big potential returns with 1 old head propping it up. They won't spend big money there because it cancels that out. Forwards present different cash back opportunities so that aea gets investment as any one of them has a good season they quickly increase in value. Keeper, well one sold for modest money will likely be replaced by a free. Midfield, cheap recruitments are ten a penny and there's a few there already swallowing up wages but a few might be easier to move out.
  5. I'd prefer Gally out wide than say Samuel if that's the way it's going, he's going to have a hell of a pool of strikers to chose from.
  6. Exactly How many times did he bring on Brereton to replace DG last season ? Very rarely till the end plus Vs ain't going to pay 5 mill for yet another to sit on the bench every week. A change in formation would get more of them in but can we see him straying away from the tried and trusted starting formula of Graham and Dack ? Is he going to start subbing Dack every week and go 442 ? I think we all know it's going to be a striker on one or both wings most of the time although the array of attacking talent we might be assembling should get the juices flowing it's pretty damn impressive to be fair.
  7. Theoretically yes but you are conveniently side stepping how our managers does things going off what we've seen and there is no reason to think it'll be any different. What actual wingers do you refer to anyway ? Chapman - only likely to be bit part player, Bennett - great workhorse but probably worst winger in division.
  8. That isn't the way to build a good team though that's just signing players then trying to accommodate them i'm afraid.
  9. Really is a crazy situation when we are feeling positive that our club might spend 5 million quid on a young striker but at the same time equally concerned it's money down the drain because the manager won't play him in his position and we still desperately need a keeper and good defenders. Scattergun !
  10. Spending 5 million on a player from a Prem club should surely be seen as a bit of ambition and might get a few more shifted, it bloody should do.
  11. 'Flex' doesn't suit this narrative so it's swept aside....for now.
  12. Ha ha spot on, some clubs have an ambitious manager and recruitment dept whereas we have a mix of investment fund and retirement home spaces to fill.
  13. The longer it goes on the more attractive a signing it becomes, never a fan but to be fair his cock ups and wobbles have come at top level. If he's shot he's shot but we know how Uncle Mowbray loves these types I half think he's setting up his own football rehab academy here sometimes, However Hart wouldn't be facing what he was in the Prem at this level so if he has any confidence left surely he can cope. Having said that if they tie up tens of thousands of pounds per week in him I think i'd sack the lot of them !!!!
  14. Well the obvious answer to that is it depends how well it would be re-invested. However it's pointless because we know It wouldn't be Rovers idea of the moneyball system is very odd to say the least.
  15. 95 million to Newcastle or 125 million to Man Yoo....
  16. No although I think he could've been a cracking wing back in this league but yet another who ended up taking the piss here. Head not right whilst getting thousands per week knowing the club sniffed a fee and was selling anything not nailed down so helped him through the door so it should stay shut now. Football wise there's always a case for the likes of him and Hanley and a few others but character wise no, there's a reason they haven't prospered since they left and that's it so no coming back to easy street.
  17. Did Boeteng not leave ?
  18. Not theorising there's anything dodgy just assuming that's why he's always linked especially by Nixon. Think they use Rovers to publicise their man quite a bit.
  19. 2 to 3 billion remember ! Even though no ones hardly heard of them outside of a mile away from their front gates.
  20. Yes they could've come up with something a bit more imaginative to get round that like charge the 40 quid but make it a 2 for one or something for a lesser midweek game. Spaces will be embarrassing for these games in the supposed home 'end' and even worse if it's selected for tv. We know Cheston doesn't have a clue how to steer Rovers fan base so he just penny pinches now it seems Waggot is even worse.
  21. Given Gallaghers agent i'm always a bit suspicious of us being used in regards to him its happened every window since he's been here although i'm sure they'd love to get him here and if so we'll overpay. Question is does Mowbray really want him ( whether we get him or not ) ?
  22. As we've seen with Raya countless times and Nyambe and Lenihen young lads in defence learning their trade make mistakes and complete cock ups and it costs. it's to be expected of course. That's why there is clamour for experienced defensive reinforcements and that's why it would be wrong to expect Magloire to just step up and solve the problems. There's a whole two seasons process to go through for these lads and yes we want them in but relying on them as regulars will inevitably cost the team so a loan spell would be best in the long run. Do we want to just blood youngsters and sell them on whilst sitting in the middle of the division comfortably lining peoples pockets with little pressure or do we want to kick on ?
  23. Because imo this seasons similar budget still has to have the follow up payments for AA & BB from last summer taken into account therefore he's no headroom hence why the Brereton deal has hamstrung us a while longer. Very unlikely thee'll be anything for defenders that's why Mowbray is always moving the goalposts and skirting round that one.
