  1. I was just thinking about him, superb signing and contribution. Wonder why you don't see many others look to skip right across the edge of the area looking to a slide a ball through or win a free kick. Gave defenders absolute nightmares.
  2. When you look at that bench then yeah i'm inclined to agree there'd certainly be non of our defenders or centre mids anywhere near it that's for sure.
  3. Definitely a similar impact him and Speedie are the types that grab games by the scruff of the neck and drag everyone else along, he did similar at Cardiff to what Speedie did here I think. Oh for a signing along those lines now, a bold inspirational punt but players of their mentality are few and far between now sadly.
  4. Best player I've ever seen in blue and white, did it consistently over 4 years i'm thinking more short term signings.
  5. Have an old VHS of it somewhere and i'm sure Lennie Lawrence was doing some co commentary and came across as the only one giving any credit to Rovers from start to finish. By the way Speedie 'won' the pen he conned the defender into helping him over... What a player for us he was not sure we've had anyone since made such an impact in such a short time with the club. Proper Rovers cult hero.
  6. Either Olsson on a free and 10k pwk would be a big improvement on our left back situation I reckon.
  7. Getting Rhodes, Gestede, Hanley and Marshall back and promotion is sealed ? Funniest thing I've read on here in a while, I must've missed the last time they got us promoted ?
  8. They didn't get on allegedly, what a disaster of an appointment Ince was but at least they quickly realised it. Who'd have thought worse was to come...
  9. Just wait until he's installed as player manager next season...........
  10. There was rot around the whole club then though with GB keeping it together best he could. Robbo was on the wane no doubt but he was still better than Steele and that isn't vilifying him he started shaping up ok after a while but was never going to be a good keeper that's a fact that's been born out I think. I can also think of several clangers in his early days and his kicking was the weakest I've ever seen from a pro keeper which caused us all sorts of bother at times. We needed a good solid experienced keeper there and then to replace Robinson and keep the chain going but it was broken and has never recovered until Raya gave hope. Still 50/50 with him whether he's flattering to deceive or just hit that point all rookies do and stalled a bit.
  11. They got rid of Robinson for non football reasons and replaced him with Boros no 3 Steele for non footballing reasons. One they wanted off the payroll and rid of his influence the other came much cheaper with a view to resurrecting his career and making a few quid out of him in the long run. It would be really nice to bring a keeper in for footballing reasons this time if there is to be a change and it's not just the usually empty words to calm a gathering storm, you know something along the lines of he's better than what we have !
  12. Correct as the emergency back up / stand in is already in place and he only likely got those games at the end of the season so TM could have a look at him and let his next 12 months kick in. If he's satisfied that we could go through a successful season with him as no 1 if Raya left or was out for a spell then i'm as worried as I was when he stated he was happy with the defenders mid way through the season. My thinking is if he sees sense and brings in a direct challenge to Raya he'll loan out JL, he likes looking after his ex Boro lads after all.
  13. The Steve Kean of politics. If he opens his trap there's a 90% chance a lie will fall right out of it.
  14. Wonder what happened to the bone heads who came from the midlands was it ? to put some intimidation on certain people ? Are they still loyal hardcore or where they on a payroll as well like kung fu pandas Bolton rent boys and the like ? What an unbelievable time but it's all been nicely swept under the carpet....for now. I live for the day something turns up in public non Rovers related regarding Dastardly/Mutley and all their crew, some who turned rogue when they were supposed to be loyal to the club, and sets off a series of events that lets it all out. Time is wonderful at throwing up that sort of thing just when it's least expected. Scum !
  15. This is a good point otherwise it gives the perfect excuse for money to disappear and any old bodies to be brought in just to make numbers up. Proper way to upgrade is bring a better one in and move another out otherwise it's just sell to buy and that doesn't always work out well in these parts.
  16. Did he not spin a lie to cover the fact he didn't know ? He's made a career out of it after all !
  17. Depends if they are going to have a real push a promotion and aside from a big one off every five years Venkys have tended to prefer sanctioning wages rather than lots of big fees AND big contracts so you never know. Not saying it's right or wrong but it does fit in with the way they've done things in the past.
  18. Not unless he brings his gloves.
  19. Which one will benefit the team most and where it wants to go in those three years though ?
  20. Might have been although I thought it was a few years later, maybe both of them got told to ditch the bucket seats.
  21. You'd be surprised what physios and chiropractors advise and the basic everyday things they take into account. Didn't we have a player who had to have special car seats made to help stave off a few persistent niggles ? Think it might have been Duff.
  22. Disclaimer : Ted is a fictional character created for message board purposes only and not intended to offend ?
  23. I'd only find it odd if it was two different reactions to the same piece of news from the same person a week apart. Other than that it's just standard message board stuff surely. Red blood/passion and a tad of fickleness thrown in for good measure, it's a heady brew ?
  24. Ted can't post on the internet without his usual touch of arrogance and assuming he knows better than everyone else. Ted then wonders why people find his tone a tad annoying. Ted doesn't know anything better than anyone else. Don't be like Ted he's a bit of a helmet.
