N'Zonzi given a straight red for competing strongly for the ball as any midfielder should whilst Vidic yet again appears to be completely immune from being shown the red card. -

And this is why..... http://www.nonsenselondon.com/work/sweemo-fish-slap/ Fish 7 400 quid! Price of a season ticket! Mind you if the recipient were called either Rao, Anderson or Kean and the salmon had eaten a brick just before it was caught it'd be bloody cheap. -
Not good of course but that isn't life threatening is it? Personally I don't really expect that the John Taylor issue will make one jot or iota of difference to people who didn't know him or witness it. I mean these things only happen to other people don't they?
-
"But lawyers representing Mr Taylor's family want to know why the bin was not already permanently secured to the ground and why there were no stewards or police officers in the concourse at the time of the incident." Leeches! Hardly much of a case for negligence here is there? It was tragedy but there are lots of them in the papers everyday. In this case substance abuse and high spirits leading to loss of responsibility and stupid behaviour by John Taylor and the goons who were chucking stuff in the concourse. Have any of those been identified btw? John Taylor won't be the first and he won't be the last. Move on. Just as an aside, has behaviour improved markedly at subsequent BRFC away matches?

Just guesssing and I might be wrong but the usual suspects in the posse were ganging up on him pretty heavily in what were obviously organised attacks. I've a feeling something similar must have occurred with Blue Phil. -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12682897 This daft pillock is right up there with Dougie Smith... the scottish ref who booked Gazza for the very serious charge of being funny on a football pitch! http://www.onthisfootballday.com/football-history/december-30-gazza-books-the-ref.php These blokes should have a four letter slang word for a vagina tattood on their foreheads before being deported to somewhere deadly dangerous at the very least. -
I'm quite enjoying the furore Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and cronies are creating about the fishing industry laws. It should have been done years ago and the fishing laws are the finest case for getting out of the European mad house that there is. It's a scandal and a sin that fish which have just been caught and obviously killed in the process are thrown back because of a quota system. It 'one flew over the cuckoos nest' thinking. Also very funny to see Tesco cop it for buying tuna from unscrupulous sources that admit to killing turtlea and dolphins in the process. I hope the two black chaps don't get in bother for innocently spilling the beans but the Tesco chappies face was a picture of stunned shock. I guess other than line caught Tuna it must be almost impossible to not net dolphins, turtles etc and that the only way forward is to make all but rod and line fishing for Tuna illegal even if we all have to pay significantly more. Lets be honest, we can afford it and food is way too cheap in this country, europe and the USA anyway.

I heard yesterday that it (sirloin) has shut. Billy Nelsen who owned the pub (not Thyme) passed away a couple of months ago and I understand that is the root cause of the problem. Whether illiquidity or something else I dont know.

I only buy meat at Spout House if I rem when passing and it's open. Best thing Frank could do would be get his meat n stuff into Head o'th Marsh shop cos thats open all week. btw you Chorley / Leyland types.... Best fruit and veg in the area by a country mile is at Pauls Farm just off Dunkirk Lane about 300yards past the turn onto Longmeanygate. Difficult to see from the road but well worth finding.

Lovely surroundings, traditional dishes, lamb cooked on the bone etc, local and cheap. Perfect for them. Great range of sausages too! Try as I might to like lincoln / apple / cumberland / spicy etc etc the traditional pork is the best. Other side of town and the sausages in Mellor Post Office top the lot in these parts! Tasty and hardly any fat in the grill pan when they are cooked.

I think that needs better publicity. I've dined at Stanley House but I haven't been to Mr Freds yet but I will. I've not heard anything but good reports about it. Also I'm about ready to move on from the Clog as a 'nothing on so what shall we do tonight' fall back now. The menu is becoming tedious.

I don't agree with the majority of stuff you post but I do with this. Very good value if you want filling up but most of the dishes become a little too 'steamed' imo.

When I said 'I was there' that was the City game with apparently 42000 on in 67. I was responding to Jim's comments about Whittle Blues piccy of the Lpool match in 58 and the match in 1929 and wondering how so many could get into Ewood. I gave a bigger Blackburn End 'mound' before the stand was built as a possibility. Does that make more sense?

I've not eaten at the Traders for a long time so I cannpt comment, but the Millstone bar snacks are about as good as it gets. Whether you can organise a big family table I don't know as you have not indicated numbers. The restaurant could accomodate you but the prices in there are normally steeper than the bar snacks despite the food being similar and cooked in the same kitchen.

Daft decision if I can say that about a manager who won the World Cup. Alf may not have known it at the time but Keith Newton was equally good at either left or right back. A utility man like that is very valuable cover for any squad as it would allow managers to name another type of attacking player. Must bear in mind here that subs were only allowed if players were injured and were not allowed for tactical reasons.
-
I was there that night and I've always wondered how many more could have squeezed on. It was ram jam full. However I may be wrong but I seem to think that the Blackburn End stand might not have been built in 58. Building that would prob have reduced capacity somewhat.
-
Well done Ivan Ponting. Now there's a bloke who knows his stuff.
-
Probably. Ronnie by then was 30 or so and getting on a bit. Stiles wasn't special on the ball but he did a magnificent job of simply marking the opponents top players out of the game. For Styles think a dirtier, harder and more determined Robbie Savage..... and note I've highlighted Robbies strong points!
-
Small wonder Kelbo, according to Duggie himself that was a cruciate ligament injury in the days when they could do nothing about it.
-
Rebound or squared ball, yes it is. It is. Odd thing is that the Lpool defence certainly weren't waiting for any rebound. They appear to be playing a rigid offside tactic just over the half way line.
-
It is true sadly. One of my earliest hero's. I understand Ronnie died suddenly. One of life's gentleman through and through. A credit to the club, a credit to England and a fine Captain of both. The timing of his passing away could not be more poignant as the old regime is replaced with a new one at the club.

1. Every duk / pond / puddleduck is well worth a visit imo. 2. Curry for the middle classes. Bukhara just a couple of miles down the road is better food by a mile.... but rem no alcohol served or allowed can be consumed on the premises. 3. Thyme ... Good food, nice surroundings BUT take my advice and ALWAYS check the bill very carefully!!! 4. Calypso... I can't comment on the food but I would never ever contemplate having a meal in that restaurant.

That'll never catch on...... It completely does away with going to gawp at the barmaids tits!

Nice... Went to a birthday celebration there a couple of years ago and dined for the main event at 'La Petit Maison'. This place is supposedly Sarkozy's favourite restaurant and apparently a haunt of the rich and famous on the Cote d'Azur. An unusual dining experience, French Tapas would be the best way to describe our meal. Lost count of the number of courses that were served, all superbly cooked and presented. Mighty glad that I wasn't picking up the tab and whilst very memorable I'm not sure that I'd relish a similar dining experience again. Rather too complicated and too pretentious for us Lancashire wallers. Gastronomic overkill. More dining experience than celebration imo.... alternatively and before anybody else says it, I think I may just have described a case of putting pearls before swine.
