Now that Kalinic is finding his feet up top Benny is the perfect partner in the supporting role. Di santo isn't, Roberts isn't and Beattie isn't. They are all centre forwards with not a hint of creativity about them, in fact there's more support in a pair of tights than in that lot put together. Lazy / frustrating / overweight yep but the other side of the coin is that Benny will always make chances for others and is lethal if he gets them for himself. With Dunne knackered there is no proven replacement for that role. -

I rem a programme about the great Liverpool teams under Shanks and Paisley and the first job on each and every Monday morning at 10am at the training ground was to stand on the scales and be weighed. Anybody over the weight that they were supposed to be had to do extra training and wear a bin bag with holes cut in next to their skin to help em sweat the surplus weight off in training. Maybe time to introduce that again? Might also be time to introduce proper training methods too. All I see on the TV at various training grounds around the country are players in 3 layers of clothing and the now customary pair od gloves, chatting to each other and doing nothing more strenuous than the occasional tap up's. I'm sure that there must be tougher training but somewhat perplexingly I never see it. -

At first reading this story seems awful but scratch the surface. Benny owes it not only to BRFC but also to SA and his own reputation and himself to get into peak physical condition for the World Cup. If he plays a starring role he will be forever remembered all his life as a hero, if he bombs in the heat through being in poor physical shape he becomes tomorrows chip paper. I'm damned sure that Allardyce has made him fully aware of that even if Benny did not mention it or the reporter chose to ignore it. Allardyce is not Old Nick he is a football man who feels the need to crack the whip over Benny's head. If he's given him until Christmas to get into shape and he hasn't then what else can he do apart from have his gums wired? -
Best cheapo TV for the masses that there is in the opinion of me and mine. Just about the only reallity TV (if that is what it is) that we all watch. Problem is they are in danger of selling their souls by selecting participants based on controversy rather than personality/ability. Is the narrator Harry Hill cos if it isn't it certainly sounds like him? In last night's episode (Sun) the Iranian woman prepared about the best meal that I have seen on the show to date. As for a good Thai meal I'm still mourning the passing of the Little Elephant in Darwen.

Big clubs seem to value big players don't they. We need to be very concerned if Benny goes in Jan. He's not as fit as he should be but he's the only one with real ability and who looks like scoring most weeks. -
Might be wrong but do the same people have the Eagle at Barrow?

I was playing down at Pleasington fields that afternoon. It was the first major promotion match after years of decline and the town was buzzing all week. Worst bit was missing the match and the best bit was that we could hear the crowd roar each time Rovers scored. Believe me the crowd noise previous to that match had not been big enough to have been heard at the Brown Cow never mind Plessy fields.

I think black armbands are easily enough to mark his passsing. Minutes silences are way too frequent nowadays and as such become devalued. Don't want top speak ill of course but Don wasn't a Blackburn lad, he wasn't leading scorer or regular captain and he didn't stay around here when he left.

I don't dispute that. Many managers with limited finances would build a team around talents like Benny, Dunny and Tugay. Unfortunately I think it's possible that Benny and Tugay have been their own worst enemies in terms of attitude and application. Like it or lump it there can only be one manager at a club. Without knowing any inside info I do know that Allardyce is no fool and would not let talent like theirs go without a lot of thought. Rem he is the manager who built strong Bolton sides around the extravagent and precocious talents of Djorkaef, Okocha and Campo. -

Are you sure Abbs? Rush worked very hard up front on his own in Lpool's 4-4-1-1 (btw does that sound familiar?) by running down opposing defenders when they were endeavouring to build from the back. I rem he was frequently referred to as Liverpools best defender. I must admit though that he was not the same player when he came back from Juventus. -

Strongly disagree! He should have come on instead of Roberts. I don't think Di Santo and Roberts complement each other one bit. -
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/blackburndarwenhyndburnribble/4757488.Blackburn_dad_of_five_heroin_user_jailed/ Until people like this are dealt with properly then the problem is never ending. 'a social security loan' ultimately to buy drugs. This bloke is worse than vermin whose ultimate demise will be a blessing on the rest of society. 1. I suggest the person who signed off that loan needs to be given a final warning. When will it be repaid? If the answer is as I expect never then should it not be deducted from said persons salary? Harsh? Maybe... but it would prove the best regulator os such idiotic profligacy possible. 2. If the state has to provide drugs then a compulsory vasectomy should be the trade in.

Duk is also right next to the drop off point for the park and ride service from Walton le Dale.

From their site.... Steak & Burger Company Blackburns First Premier Steak and Burger Restaurant serving handmade premium burgers and the finest British Beef Steaks. All Halal and Fresh. Complete Coffee and Tea Lounge serving Illy Coffee. Hallal eh? So thats that then. As much as I can do I avoid eating animals slaughtered by inhumane and primitive methods. In this day and age and especially in this country there is absolutely no need or excuse for such barbaric practice and any religions that promote such killing namely jewish and muslim should be exposed and condemned. Best way to reward this restaurant for their stance is to avoid it!

Finally called in today Paul. A proper shop. I drive past lots of times but never seem to do so on a Fri or at weekend. I bought a big lump of lamb fillet for Sunday and a bigger lump of beef brisket for midweek. Just over £13 the pair.... not very dear at all for quality home reared meat imo.

I think he'll stick with the formation but I'd not rule out a change of striker. Just as Roberts usually starts a spell as 1st choice up top brightly and then suffers a dip in form it appears Di Santo is doing the same. A spell on the bench can serve to refresh and re-invigorate. Also managers must not be seen to 'make fish of one and meat of another' by displaying favouritism. ........... It's not impossible either that BM might be on the team sheet as a starter either. -

Tris etc....... I like watching Benny. He is a very naturally gifted footballer and can make the game look easy. BUT his is frustrating and if I dared to think how much he gets paid DIVIDED BY MINUTES HE SPENDS ON THE PITCH IT WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY OBSCENE!
