Barry would have had a lot more caps if he had been a big time Charlie. His career has suffered under the fools SGE and Maclaren more than anybody. -

Give em chance Hasta there's not much time between finishing 2 nights homework and bedtime. -
That'll have the same effect on Arry's chances as manager as the last bung 'expose' did for Allardyce.

Good post. Gerrard and Beckham keep on and on trying to play killer defence splitting passes every tim they get the ball which rarely work. But because they are supposedly 'big' players it encourages the entire team to play the same way. The result of course and which was starkly illustrated the other night after Crouch had equalised when every time we got the ball we immediately gave it back to the opposition. In fairness Beckhams cross for Crouch was sublime but the rest was Park football at it's finest. -
Best to see if Ramos can render Huddlestone down a bit first.

The attacking midfielder with most genuine class for International level competition imo is Joe Cole. So best advice is to drop both Gerrad and Lampard. One of em is sure to retire in a hissy fit so the selection problem for which one gets in the 22 man SQUAD will be resolved. -
Sherwood would take the current team up another level.

The Irish being perfect in every way I assume Matt? Anyway good and hard hitting article. Paul Wilson should have quit 3 or 4 sentences from the end though. -
Anoraks scapegoats...........Tim Sherwood, Jason Wilcox, Lee Carsley........ ...... MGP?

I cannot rem how many times I've said this but Steve Gerrard is a damned good Sat afternoon club player and thats it. He can sign for us anytime he likes by me BUT the phallacy that has built around him being a 'world class international' is just that a fallacy and absolutely ludicrous to boot. .... But he just squeezes a place on the bench in 'my' England SQUAD (note not team) in front of Frank Lampard. -

What? How much experience do you need? Now I'm not backing Big Jack particularly but he's certainly experience of managing a 'small' team to and at both the Euro and the World Cup Finals! Anybody else on the list of possibilities other than Scolari that possesses that? Also and this IS THE BIG REALLY ONE he is his own man and does not give a flying flerk for the massed ranks of knownowts in the press and media and will select players to suit his game plan not cos the play for some billy big time media luvvy club. His rows with Eamon Dunphy were superb, he slaughtered him, if it had been a boxing match the fight would have been stopped. .... I guess the media know this and will diss him off but I must admit I'm warming to the posssibility of his appointment. -

Me I've said for years that Gerrard is not a quality international player. Good and consistent sat afternoon inspirational midfielder yes...... as good as his 'press' hardly, World Class? No bloody way. -

The point being that unbelievably the same people are being charged with finding the next man. Will the penny never ever drop at Lancaster Gate? Just a minute I've just had a thought that would explain it .......... Does the selection process involve writing all applicants names onto balls and picking them out of a black bag? -

I suggest they ask the SFA. The endless production line of quality Scottish talent dried up in the late 70's never to return. Maybe they can point out the reasons. I doubt that its cos squillions of foreigners went to play in the Scottish Leagues in the 70's. -

Has anybody thought that whoever we get will see the FA with 4 managers on the payroll? I imagine that SGE is prob out of the circle now that he is working for City BUT his contract was until 2008, Maclaren's been potted and will be getting paid off, ditto I should imagine for his useless Spiv assistant and whoever the new manager is will be. Heads must roll over this shameful state of affairs alone. -

His skill is all below his neck. Headless chicken on the pitch and a scouser off it. The entire team set off like the bloody Light Brigade when all we needed to do was play out a deadly dull draw on a difficult pitch against a team that had already qualified. The Germans and Italians will be absolutely p1ssing themselves at our ineptitude. -

Given the wealth of the clubs in the prem and the clamour from players all over the world to board the gravy train I dont think that that is a poor %age at all. In fact it's higher than I would have estimated. I hope this stupid argument about developing kids doesn't rear it's ugly head cos it is nonsensical and simply a press / media witch hunt to apportion blame elsewhere which we in this country are so good at nowadays. Talent and ability is in a person and no amount of coaching will matter. Our top players are playing with and seeing the standards needed every day in training and it will naturally bring them on. Our problems start and end with two factors 1. Leadership. 2. Attitude. -

Don't flatter youself I didn't remember it at all. I simply re-read page 1 of this topic to see where it had started. I thought your post was worth a mention given that you are such a conceited know-all. BUT .... Why diss me Jim? I didn't type that crap .... you did.
