[Archived] International Call Ups
thenodrog replied to Ricky's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Eh? Does anybody know or even care what Beckhams current form is? Just a messy and unecessary distraction to feed the media and corporate circus with his 100 caps rubbish. He'd have had the buggers anyway if he hadn't got sent off in the WC and gone on to engineer an unecessary suspension years later. -

Miserable looking buggger without doubt but I didn't dislike Graham Kelly. Apparently a rovers fan too by his own admission. -
Yeah quite right Jim... That Jeremy Clarksons too rich by far! I save my money by texting whilst I drive ..... oh and the best bit is that no one can get a piccy of me doing it either.

Just the same with alcohol Bazza. Some people get happy, some morose and some irresponsible and frequently violent. The latter being the reason for the drink driving laws imo.

[Archived] Hooligans Yet Again

I take that as not so much an appraisal of Coventry but more a vilification of what this country has become in my lifetime. Hannah the blame for the appallling development of kids nowadays lies squarely at the door of the law makers who do not allow the members of your profession the proper tools and support necessary to discipline the young nor do they punish irresponsible parenting hard enough. The welfare system is in short paying the social underclasses to breed at the expense of the more valuable members of society. Even if everything was changed tomorrow we will unfortunately continue to reap the rewards of our folly for very many years. -
Storm in a tea cup. Picture the scenario. A short conversation via with some media man........ Pressman "Hiya Dave. Hey I've been meaning to ask you....... do you think Walcott would be better leaving Arsenal to get regular matches in the Prem?" DB " Dunno, it's up to him but leaving Arsenal for BRFC hasn't done me any harm has it? Anyway I'll see you around mate" And that's then turned into a full blown attack on the methods of Wenger and arsenal.
-
Fairly similar talent wise but I'd certainly have him over Bert at left back should the need arise.
-
I guess cos that is when whoever in the press asked him for a pre match interview. Pretty pointless angle otherwise duffy.

Thanks Shillitoe. The closest comparison I can make is a 'divorce' situation. The irrational reaction to rejection frequently causes many people to profess hatred for someone that they once worshipped. It was far more understandable when Shearer spurned our declarations of undying love than with Lucas Neill. Lucas was no Roy of the Rovers like Big Al but simply an above average, athletic defender who was rarely injured and who obviously possessed enough qualities of character to prompt our unanimously respected manager to name him team Captain. To foment so much hatred is weird and probably accounts for biblical stoning, lynching and the witch hunts of human history.

Hardly his fault. More his management team ....... and WHU's dodgy owners. Also who the hell would take a home in the Lpool area over one in London? As for this 'boyhood club' thingy.... it's bollax. As a teenager I 'supported' Don Revies LUFC in the early 70's and Lpool in their golden days of the late 70's early 80's. Most kids do this but if either ever played BRFC though in a cup competition there was only only one club that I wanted to win. If I was a pro footballer and BRFC did not want to sign me then I would now have no allegiance whatsoever to Leeds or Lpool. I would go where I thought I would fit in best and where I could earn most money.
-
I think that was accepted by all eons ago. What I want to know from you Andrew is what is wrong with that? We all would do the same. If Lpool had wanted him enough they'd have matched WHU's offer. They didn't so he didn't sign for them. Anyway why do people speak of Liverpool as if they are every footballers shangri -la? Hardly setting the Prem alight are they?
-
I'm greedy then. I'd like to earn more money too. Anybody disagree?
-
Just like Chris Samba and for that matter Ryan Nelsen too then eh Simon?
-
99% of em probably are dishonest. Who cares? Fact of the matter is that WHU simply made him an offer that he could not refuse (prob after he's spoken to Brownie). What is wrong with him doing that? Am I misssing something? If something similar happened to a mate in 'real' life we'd all say "bloody hell! Doubled your salary? Ya jammy bugger... you can't miss that! Anything said after he signed is simply the usual platitudes uttered by every new signing and is solely intended for the new clubs supporters. I simply do not understand this ludicrous and continuing witch hunt of who imo is a fairly decent and basically honest guy from half way around the globe who is simply trying to do the best for himself. Christ almighty the nearest thing that I can align this to is the emotions involved and displayed in the divorce courts! What t f IS going on with everybody? Move on ffs.

Why should the govt even get involved? 92 other clubs (+FC United) hardly constitutes a monopoly. I can't see the govt bothering if we get sold.... or is that just the usual BRFC supporters ingrained persecution complex showing itself? -
Such is your ire that I'm rather suprised that you didn't include the word 'only' in that sentence.

Hand gun? bowlox... I mean a 12 bore shotgun! Vermin probs in the past and I just used to borrow one. Now borrowing a shotgun for a day or two to exterminate damaging vermin is considered on a par with hijacking planes and flying em into buildings, 1st degree murder and driving at 35mph. -

Shot one today but must have only nicked it and when I went to find it it had gone. Much as they are vermin I hate doing that but unfortunately I do not live close enough to an inner city slum to be allowed to possess a 'proper' gun. -

Before you young uns take the p1ss......... this lad would've walked into the team now. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/...ice_assault.php -
Plenty of criticism for Hughes and calls to get rid of x y and z. But can any of our armchair managers inform us all of exactly how to motivate the players when most of whom will prob have had their agents on the blower during the last month or two saying that if they can get out of their Blackburn contract in Jan they can do a Lucas and earn far more at other more desperate Prem clubs? I've said it before and imo financial unrest will be at the root of it all.

Sounds like a right mickey mouse league Ricky. Also sounds like you lot are in the wrong division. Winning by miles (I assume) each week is hardly an enjoyable situation imo. -
Philip..... You are being really naive and embarrassingly dated in your views! Cocaine is widely available in Blackburn AND to the best of my knowledge we don't have many swiss bankers in our town. Come to think about it 'working class' people are getting scarce too!
