From that BBC article........... "What about football in Spain, France, Holland, Portugal, Germany and, of course, Scotland? Do we see a scramble of eight or nine clubs chasing the title every year? Not a chance - it is same teams almost every year. Real Madrid have just claimed Spain's La Liga for the 31st time, while FC Porto, PSV Eindhoven and Olympiakos have all retained titles won last season. Inter Milan are on course to top Serie A for the third successive season, a feat emulated by Porto in Portugal. PSV and Olympiakos have won four domestic titles in a row while Lyon are set to make it seven straight titles in France." They are all bloody boring. Champions League has turned every European League into a tedious replica of the annual procession of the big two in Scotland. Avoiding relegation is the priority / measure of success for 80% of all european clubs in the top divisions. That numpty should pay attention to the excellent cut and thrust situation of the Championship.

No waggy, (just like me) Hughes thinks that RSC is a better finisher, Benny has far more ability and Roberts makes more things happen with his physical presence. I must say though that personally I would have expected Matty to convert some of the glaring chances that Roberts missed v Derby. But ultimately with the current strike force I believe Derbs is destined to be a sub saved for the for the last 15-20 mins to worry opposing defenders with his pace, movement and enthusiasm and prevent them venturing further forward to support their attack. As for putting him on the right wing? When it's a tight situation in defence with no easy pass to a teammate the best option for our defence is to hoof toward the opposition corned flag. Puts defenders on the back foot and opposition goalkeepers in two minds. -

Although they say that it will not happen they could square a chunk of that up by selling Ronaldo ..... but then maybe one or two would begin to question the cost of admission. Whatever with a severe recession looming close on the horizon those figurs must be making a few people (starting with their bankers) a little nervous. -
We can only try. Keep it up folks.

Souness did fine until the penultimate season. In fact if he had been tempted away to a bigger job 15 months sooner than when he thankfully departed for the mags we would have afforded him legendary status. But the issues that rankle with me is the strong suspiscion of him having his sticky fingers in our till. Sure he brought us Berko, Tugay, Brad etc BUT the deals involving Grabbi, Baggio and the two from Rangers leave a strong stench of corruption in the air imo.

BBC reply below ........... "Dear Thenodrog Thanks for your e-mail. I note you were unhappy with the panels analysis of the match between Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United during 'Match of the Day' on 19 April. I also note you feel bias is shown to the top four clubs. Football, being football means that the team don't necessarily agree on every issue regarding the game. Part of the joy of football is its subjective nature, illustrated three times a week on 5 Live's 606. We believe football should be a healthy mix of skilful commentary, first rate sports journalism and opinion; opinion that is challenged and whilst it can be passionate, should be respectful. Anything that puts these elements at risk in the eyes of our audience is taken seriously. Furthermore, all our programme contributors are appointed on the basis of their experience and talent, and we do not engage any presenter unless we consider that he or she is the most competent and possesses the necessary ability to meet the considerable demands the particular programme or broadcast may make. Having said that, it is a rare TV personality of any kind who meets the approval of everyone in our vast and varied audience, and from the heavy correspondence which we receive it is clear that listeners' opinions on them do vary considerably. Please be assured that your comments on this matter have been registered and added to a daily log that is made available to senior editorial staff and programme makers. Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us with the strength of your concerns. Thank you again for taking the time to contact the BBC. Regards J D BBC Complaints Finally, I have attached an invitation, from the Head of BBC Information, asking you to participate in our customer survey. We would welcome your views on our service. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So there you go.

Second most powerful man bucky? Good grief! That he even held that position for a second is a sad indictment of Blair's government. His appointment was simply Teflon Tony's means to satiate the left wing of the party but it has turned out to be a walking disaster area for the entire Lab party. A confirmed serial shagger, hypocrite and street brawler and that is before this latest embarrassment. He is rarely out of the news for all the wrong reasons. Why he has never been made to fall on his sword reflects awfully on the entire party, He is the best long standing party political broadcast that the Tories could ever have. -
That's just about the best post that you have ever made on here Colin. Well done. You really should stick to the messageboard and not be tempted into posting on ICBINF.

I wonder what waist size he would have been if he had not kept chucking up! -
He frequently puts us down. I often feel that he thinks of his time at Ewood as a regrettable piece of his own career hisrtory. For my money his gripe is that looking back he regrets not choosing to sign for Man Utd when he left Soton.

A vast majority I'd wager.

Just complained to the BBC about the MoTD coverage ........... "What horribly skewed comments from Messrs Linekar, Shearer and Lawrenson. So much ‘in depth’ analysis about the penalty decisions during the match with them all ignoring the fact that 1. Rooney was mildly clipped and not hindered by Reid but then unashamedly dived and should have been cautioned! When he was finally cautioned for a viscious hack from behind on Samba he committed a bookable offence on David Bentley! That should have reduced Man Utd to 9 men part way through the 1st half but that would never do would it? 2. The inference that Vogel just about ‘got away’ with what was probably the best tackle of the match to deny Ronaldo a clear shot on goal. 3. That Emerton was guilty of handball. This was the nearest claim to a penalty granted but the ball hit Emerton’s UPPER arm (not his hand) which was by his side! What do those three goons think is needed to avoid such incidents? Amputation perhaps? Worse was no mention of the more obvious penalty incident and ensuing sending off that was denied at the other end in the opening minutes when Kuszczak took Roberts out when he was clear on goal and 99% certain to score. Furthermore the 'corner' for Manchester's equaliser was a goal kick but I guess that the gushing, slavering weekly worship of the top 4 clubs obviously need to make no concession for fairness and accuracy do they! I must say the bias continually shown toward the Champions league funded ‘Big Four’ clubs is wearisome and aggravating. Why do the BBC hierachy assume that the entire nation are fervent supporters of 4 clubs? Professional football would be healthier if those clubs would clear off to some world super league and allow the Premier league to take over from the Championship as the most competetive and enthralling division in the country. "

I'll bet you are dying for the govt to legalise cannabis so that you can finally try some Bucky! Problem is that smoking cannabis usually goes with furtive impoverished and inarticulate people smoking a few spliffs in somebodies scruffy flat. Not a form of social intercourse that I find an attraction. But hey if you are skint then I guess it's OK .... just not as good as the real thing.
-
How do you have definite insight into that bucky? Or are you just mischief making with Fife as an easy target?

I liked GS most of his time with us. He did well to sign Brad, Tugay, Ped, Neil etc but it was all soured by the Ferguson sting. I'd wager Souness made a fortune out of BRFC over some of his dodgier dealings. Grabbi, Baggio and the two dealings with Rangers have left a very bad taste.

Just transferred that to excel and divided points total with games played in order to level out relegation years. We have averaged 1.48 points per match which equates to =5th position (along with LUFC) and leapfrogging both Villa and Spurs! Maybe something for the perrenial whingers to bear in mind. btw Pompey are in 25th position for anybody who may admire them ...... -

So given the news about Beckham and the media hype to get him to 100 caps wouldn't it serve our purpose better for Hughes be pulling Bentley from the squad via some fabricated injury? Or do we really need him to become an established England senior international before the transfer window opens? Who knows eh? -
