  1. Jimbo - if you like Greco-Persian wars what did you think of Troy? BTW Mel Gibson may have starred in Gallipoli but he had nothing to do with the direction or screenplay.
  2. Here is some more background information regarding the producer of 'The Great Climate Swindle'
  3. Most Australians of his generation grew up watching Craig Johnstone score in the FA Cup back in the mid 80's. Perhaps Lucas is smart enough to realise that he'll never make at a 'top' club as a player, so he's better off earning the cash to run his own club to make his other football dreams come true. If he ends up bankrolling an Australian team that wins the Asian Champions League in 10 years time, does that mean he is ambitious enough and you'll all forgive him?
  4. Was that after he scored the match-winning goal with a superb volley into the corner of the net in injury time If Lucas was so bad as people think.. Hughes would have unloaded him along with Amoruso, or stuck him in the reserves like Matteo. But instead, he was first name on the team sheet every week and was even given the armband. Cheers Lucas.. try not to break the legs of any Rovers players please!
  5. Personally, I don't understand this line of thought. If you leave during the middle of your contract for a big club because you're a glory hunter, that's OK. Move to a 'small' club at the end of your contract and you're just a greedy b***** with no ambition.
  6. Lucas is only in it for the money and he should have joined a big club like Liverpool. Should Shearer, Sutton, Ripley, Flowers, Hendry, Sherwood et al signed for big clubs instead of signing for a smaller club who paid good wages? Obviously they were just mercaneries with no 'ambition'. Answers on a post card please...
  7. Has anyone stopped to think that perhaps West Ham want to put in the relegation clause? That way they won't have players draining Premiership wages out of their coffers when they are living on a Championship revenue stream. And another point, shouldn't we applaud Lucas for not succumbing to the usual 'big-club' glory-hunting syndrome? We all bag the fans and media who jump on the bandwagons of big clubs.. so Lucas wants to play for a small club in London... who in some ways resemble a small club in Lancashire... lots of history... good solid support and reputation.. yadda yadda.
  8. I think his agent has led him by the nose. But then again you've only got one life so why not move clubs/jobs again? Thanks for all your years of service Lucas. You had some ordinary years in the Blue'n'White as well as some absolute blinders. How many games did Lucas miss in his time here? He was a good player, an honest professional and I'll miss him. I think he'll enjoy playing for Curbishley. I do find that attitudes of some people here rather bizarre to say the least. He told the club one year ago that he wanted to move to a new club. He's still pulled on the shirt and played week-in, week-out and has always been amongst our best. I'd save the vitriol for the Chris Suttons/Grahame Le Sauxs of the world personally.
  9. I actually think he'd be better off at Bolton anyway. Big Sam has a good reputation with 'troublesome' players and he'll be under far less pressure.
  10. Emerton has played in the midfield of a 3-5-2 under Guus Hiddink.
  11. I think that all the 'green' hysteria in the UK at the moment is cunning plan to distract people for the disasterous state of their energy infrastructure... ie since privitisation average household costs for gas and electricity have been skyrocketing... ..mainly to increase shareholder value of the multinationals who now supply your energy. But instead of looking like the greedy self-centered corporations they are who are all taking us for a ride, they start telling you that you must reduce your household energy bill to save the planet. The government is of course happy to go along with this because it distracts people from realising what a complete balls-up the idea of letting private companies sell you energy really is.
  12. There is no point in showing long-range temperature data without the corresponding CO2 data. Nasa webite which sourced the picture Argue your way around that one. BTW Den - thanks for the Royal Society Link.
  13. How many goals did we score from corners the season when Emerton was taking them? About four wasn't it?
  14. Just letting you know that I'm going to the game so we are certain not to win. My record of attending Rovers games is one draw followed by four losses... a record Jonah himself would be proud of.
  15. So if Amoruso or Matteo clapped the fans after every game.. you'd make them Captain? Conversely... if the club signed Gerrard from Liverpool and made him captain.. would you get on his back and demand that he get stripped of the armband if he didn't clap the fans every week? I admit it is nice when they do clap the fans.. but at the end of the day the club pay Lucas (and his mates) good money to win football games, not to be nice genial chaps who you can take home to your grandmother.
  16. Guus gave the armband to Lucas Neil on several occasions for his country. Mark Hughes should give the armband to the player who he feels is the best captain on the day.. end of story. Obviously he agrees with me!
  17. Emerton crosses for Gallagher to make it 4-2.. yibbida yibbida.. that's all folks
