  1. Mowbray said he is going to focus on the negatives ??.
  2. No. In my view flippant isn't disrespectful but 'high handed approach' is. Having a different view is fine by the way.
  3. What gives you the right to have a go at anybody who you deem to have 'high handed approach'? Your attitude has been flippant about this pandemic since lockdown was announced but many, many people have a completely different view and attitude. You should respect that.
  4. On your second sentence I remember Rovers playing some excellent spoiling football at the Emirates and not letting Arsenal have their own way. Fabregas approached Hughes at the end and said "didn't you used to play for Barcelona" in a disparaging reference to how we played. Hughes went after him and Fabregas later apologised. Sorry just seen Herbies response.
  5. I guess this news of promotion and relegation would massively change the way some clubs wanted to end the season. Clubs who will be promoted using PPG will say end the season and the relegated clubs will want to play on. Ultimately it will be down to the safe, mid table clubs who will decide and once again the financial side could well be the deciding factor. Realistically from a Rovers perspective the outside chance of a playoff place has to be balanced against the costs of testing, putting the games on, travelling etc.
  6. It's a question you've asked before and I don't think anybody has a definitive answer to. Of course plenty of clubs will struggle and even go to the wall which would be sad but the same can be said about any business which won't survive. In many ways football will have been the master of its own destiny with so many clubs living beyond their means. I welcomed the news of a potential salary caps in Leagues One and Two which is sensible but there was no mention of the Championship or Premier League which are the real demons in the financial mess football finds itself in.
  7. It seems like big changes are coming for Leagues 1 and 2 with salary caps being proposed. In my view this makes real sense in light of the current situation many clubs find themselves in. And it seems like they want more of a level playing field with a ceiling of £2.5m for League One and £1.25m for League Two. Significantly no mention of the Championship. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52738597
  8. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11990864/manchester-united-to-refund-fans-for-remaining-home-match-tickets Man Utd to refund season ticket holders for the remainder of this season.
  9. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11781/11990125/celtic-crowned-scottish-premiership-champions-and-hearts-relegated-as-spfl-end-season SPL call it a day for the season.
  10. You are right Andy and insiders say it seems from Ferguson not taking Alan Hansen to the World Cup in 1986. In a live interview Dalglish was asked a question about Ferguson and he indicated towards his baby daughter in his arms and said 'ask her, you'll get more sense out of her' or words to that effect.
  11. This is my last word on the subject to you as you are either being deliberately obtuse or just missing the point several people are making completely. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18456564.watfords-troy-deeney-questions-inconsistency-testing-players-not-nhs-staff/
  12. So in your world that's alright then when far more deserving cases can't get them. FFS this government can't hit their own testing targets but football, with all its riches can jump ahead and pay for them. But it fine because you will be able to watch PL football soon eh?
  13. Please tell me you are not trying to justify this just because they are paying for them?
  14. I haven't seen anything about groups travelling but I guess it's a bridge they will have to cross in the near future. I think the fear of litigation is driving a number of the current directives where football is concerned.
  15. I don't know what will happen in a few weeks but the training protocol now includes players and staff travelling in separately, arriving already changed and not entering the building, training in small groups and all equipment (balls, cones, hurdles etc) being disinfected. Physios just be in full OLD and only treat soft tissue injuries. There is a multi page document and players are being asked to sign a document to say they are understand and agree to the protocols.
  16. https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/help-and-support/coronavirus-travel-information Avant West Coast are limiting their seating capacity to enable social distancing. The luxury coach the first team use seats 37 in normal circumstances. Having to distance from each other would roughly halve that. With a playing squad of say 18 plus coaches and medical staff that in my book would necessitate two coaches. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/august/new-coach-more-than-passes-the-test/ I can't answer your other questions.
  17. Testing alone is going to cost Championship clubs £210k. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18454365.cost-coronavirus-testing-championship-clubs-revealed/ With Rovers having three of their remaining five away matches a considerable distance away I was wondering what the travel arrangements would be. For London games they travel by train and are met by a coach at Euston to take them to the hotel. Normally they book a full first class carriage for players and staff but they would probably need two now. Similarly they would need at least two coaches. I know they have flown to Cardiff in the past on a private charter but now that would probably need two planes given the planes are quite small. For overnight stops they will likely need more rooms for single occupancy rather that sharing. Post match there will be no showers available if the training protocol is to be followed and players will have to turn up at the ground already changed. All of this would come at a pretty heavy cost.
  18. I saw an interview with the Port Vale Chairwoman and she said immediately after yesterday's meeting and subsequent annulment they had a board meeting to plan for next season. The cost of testing and all other associated issues required to start up are simply out of their reach. It seemed to me that it has been a fait accompli for League Two for some time now. Darned if you do I suppose.
  19. In fluid play it shouldn't be too difficult but some set plays where players have to be managed from close proximity might cause concerns.
  20. Oliver Kay is a master at stating the bloody obvious. Of course it breeds 'brazen self interest' and surprise, surprise it's financially driven. This is the monster that greed has created.
  21. I believe that any referee who doesn't feel safe will not be forced to go out onto a pitch but my gut feeling is that none will refuse. I would have to give it serious consideration but based on what we know now I would refuse.
  22. I speak regularly to a friend who is still involved with Select Group 1 and the referees are in limbo as are most of the players as to when/if it will be back. Much like the players they have got individual training plans which have to be strictly adhered to. When and if it does start they will travel individually to the ground rather than in the usual people carrier. They will also be in tracksuits and not shower until they are back at the hotel post match. As far as their equipment goes nobody knows if the whistles, flags and head sets will be sterilised. I used to have to wash my whistle after every game did to the saliva build up. I'd be surprised if, when blowing the whistle particles of saliva don't spray out.
  23. The second part of Real Kashmir is on BBC Scotland. It covers David Robertson who upped sticks and went to Kashmir to manage the football team and it's trials and tribulations. It's not for the squeamish as the language is pretty choice but nonetheless it's very enjoyable.
  24. But did you sign to agree to them? Lots of measures have been brought in throughout all aspects of life but my point is you don't have to sign essentially what is a waiver to agree to them.
  25. Do you honestly not believe that it's an arse covering exercise by the clubs and the PL borne out of fear of litigation. As Parson says the slightest doubt about any aspect of safety will be enough for some players not to sign it. It tells me that the PL and clubs know there is a risk. Would you be happy to sign a document before going in Asda or in your place of work agreeing to their safety protocols?
