  1. I got it from somebody who knew last weeks team on the Friday.
  2. I heard that Bennett is starting at left back, Rothwell in midfield and Gallagher and Brereton up front.
  3. That ship sailed some time ago Andy ??.
  4. I refereed him whilst he was at Sheffield United Andy and struck up a relationship with him after I told him my dad was from Offaly. I could smell the alcohol on him but he was like a Rolls Royce amongst Renaults. Another time I was in the players bar at Villa after a game and Nigel Kennedy was there. As Paul McGrath walked in Kennedy was shouting across the room to him and all heads turned towards McGrath. He left immediately just not wanting any attention whatsoever.
  5. When we played Burnley in the league cup a couple of years ago he said he didn't know Rovers and Burnley were rivals. For a supposed football man I thought that was staggering.
  6. I have never heard of a playoff bonus though there will certainly be a promotion bonus but as Smallwood was contracted for the promotion season he would be entitled to it irrespective of his contract ending on June 30th. And Rovers should have budgeted for potential expenditure. Some promotion bonuses though are based on appearances of which Smallwood has none.
  7. After reading that guff how can he not offer Smallwood a new contract. When Mowbray says good in the dressing room I can only think he means Brockhall because both Smallwood and Hart haven't been in the match day squad for the months. Poor from Mowbray in my view.
  8. We were without Bell and Williams on Saturday and JRC played left back. Hart wasn't even on the bench. My belief is that it's Uncle Tony looking after one of his players again. Notionally that's fine but we are on the bones of our arse according to the recent communication.
  9. We also appreciate your understanding of the financial issues the club have and are currently facing, as a result of being unable to host supporters inside Ewood Park. The above is taken from the club statement on June 11th and less than two weeks later the club is committing around £50k on two players (Hart and Smallwood) who will bring absolutely no value to the club. I find it insulting that the club are trying to send fans who want some form of reimbursement on a guilt trip and then commit to waste a large amount of money.
  10. That reminds me of the best analogy for the whole sorry mess I saw. They have put us on a life support machine and we have to be beholden to them because they are paying for the electricity to keep us alive. Kind of sums up the mentality of some.
  11. There is conclusive evidence that they were told at the time which they ignored. In fact the people who told them were all gone within months. They bought a well run, sustainable, much admired business and turned it into a laughing stock. I find it incredible that they get any credit whatsoever.
  12. The old badly advised excuse rears it's head again. There is a letter in circulation signed by John Williams, Tom Finn and Martin Goodman which was sent to them telling them exactly what was happening and they ignored it. They were the then incumbents and wrote the letter in the best interests of the club and Venkys. That was probably the best advice they could have had and it was ignored. A turbulent decade later we are £175m in debt, have had some real dubious people in positions of power, two relegations, 10,000 lost fans and many, many other things and we have to thank them for paying the bills? You can give them credit if you want to but don't insult me by asking me to.
  13. Were they taken down just after half time because to my knowledge they haven't yet stayed for a full game ?. It appears to be a silly stunt from somebody at Ewood.
  14. I watched Soccer Saturday and Jeff Stelling said we have dropped 25 points from winning positions this season. Just hanging on to half of them would have put us challenging Leeds and West Brom. Merson was full of praise for us and said what we all know that we have goals in us. It's the other end that has worried me for a few years.
  15. Always happy to win but today is sweet because of that odious little Bristol City manager who caused a ruckus at Ashton Gate earlier this season.
  16. A lockdown baby? ??? Congratulations.
  17. Pleased for Evans after his horrific injury in January.
  18. Just seen the goal on Soccer Saturday. No pressure on the ball out wide, free header in between our centre halves and marzipan wrists from the keeper. Shocking all round defensively.
  19. And that riles me more than anything else about this farce they are now calling football. I know supporters who never miss games, one in particular hasn't missed a game of any description since 1973. But Waggott and the other suits are there in all their finery.
  20. Smallwood not even amongst nine subs and he's taking around £20k for an extra month. And the club are reluctant to offer refunds to ST holders.
  21. Pass my thanks to them also.
  22. Well done once again Herbie. If there was a BRFCS award like Luminary of Lockdown I would nominate you ☺️.
  23. It will be interesting in the cup competitions still to play if any games go to extra time. They changed the rules recently so clubs could make an extra substitution in extra time over and above the permitted three. So potentially for any games that require extra time there could be twelve changes across both teams. That 60% of outfield players for each team. In my view that is bordering on farcical.
  24. Great picture Gav. Three special trains from Blackburn and costing three and tuppence return.
  25. When the Stoke manager found out he had tested positive he was actually at Carrington where his team were due to play Man Utd in a friendly. The game was called off and he went into self isolation but how did it get so close to the game when he found out. Had that call come an hour or two later the infection could have spread like wildfire around Carrington. My understanding was that this couldn't happen in the protective bubble they have around football. Had it spread Operation Restart and the 'protocols' would have had to be rewritten. Whilst precautions have been taken it only takes one player to slip through the net.
